  1. It all depends on whether anyone breaks out this season. You're assuming it's going to be the same team as last year, plus Horford and Law. If MW is going to break out, this is going to be the season.
  2. Quote: If you are going to give up the #5 pick in the draft for a veteran player, you might as well go all out in one direction (winning now) rather than having a roster of young, developing players matched with vets in their prime that don't have the talent to win it all. I agree. When they traded for Allen I thought, what's the point in pushing for a 7 or 8 seed for the next two years and then being back where you started? This trade allows the Ray Allen trade to make a lot more sense.
  3. Quote: I'm not sure if you realize this, but you can go to your user preferences and make the threads collapse i honstly didn't, thank you. in that case, flame on.
  4. and that wasn't directed towards you, gsuteke. just realized i replied to your post.
  5. This thread is a bunch of middle school girls arguing what the term draft "capitol" means as if there's a murder trial verdict at stake.
  6. this thread is ridiculous and takes up half the main page, stop.
  7. Quote: i thought anthony johnson was supposed to be a good defender. Im not saying hes not since I never saw any of the hawks games on tv this year but i thought people usually gave him credit for good defense. AJ is a good situational defender. He can't really stay with the most athletic PGs, but he's a porker so guys can't really go through him.
  8. Quote: In case you were not aware of it, a sports bookie's goal is to balance the bets on a particular game through odds or point spread, so that the bookie's risk is minimized. That's generally true, but sometimes bookies will move a line to get more bets on one side than the other. Big deal sports books get the true odds straight from the oddsmakers, so if they think the public will bet on a line where they'll get value, they will let the majority bet on a line that is a couple points off the true odds. The site www.sportsbook.com used to (and still might) have a live odds link where you can see what percentage is voting on each side. Sometimes the line moves in favor of the side with the higher percentage, meaning they're trying to do just the opposite of minimizing their risk by balancing their bets...they're basically betting on one side themselves. I'm not saying this applies to the Donaghy situation, but assuming bookies always try to balance the bets is a bit of a misconception.

I don't think the article is implying that a guy riding the bench in a Turkish League is ready for the NBA.
  10. Quote: Last time I check, Horford hasn't played a game. And in SL, I don't ever use that as any sort of basis... It's meaningless play.. Check my history. However, give it 20 games and then let's re-evaluate... That's what I say every year.. check my history. Still.. the fact that some of you are so excitable over SL games, I hope you hold Horford to the same standard. Am I wrong in assuming that you want Horford to be a flop?
  11. Great call on this post. Horford's the guy everyone on this board should be wanting to succeed.
  12. Quote: If every any body in the drafts defends better then Horford in your eyes you are blind. You said Noah defends better then Horford. Then why did Horford match up vs. Oden in the championship game instead of Noah ? Horford, Noah, and Richard shared the responsibility. I remember the announcers wouldn't shut up about how Donovan's strategy was to rotate the assignment to keep his big men fresh. This takes away from Diesel's agenda, though, as he likes to blame all of Oden's good game on Horford.
  13. so you picked out the leading scorer for each time that faced Florida and blamed it on Al Horford... good idea.
  14. It's impossible to make any definitive statements about who Horford is before he's played in a game.
  15. Quote: why dose Yi need a longer development time than horford? yes he is less familiar with nba,but he is talent enough to make up that deficiency within a short time span. if Yi have to adjust his game more than others? China's national league team just lost to the Grizzlies summer league team. Does that clear it up for you? That chair he worked out against probably wasn't much slower than the defenses he faced in the CBA.
  16. Quote: Quote: http://www.nba.com/summerleague2007/scoreboard.jsp enjoy "see yi suck live. "hahaha, some fans are pathetic! let's see how Horford could react, if he could score even close to 23 points, i will take back my mead words toward him. Let's see if Rudy Gay embarrasses Horford in a summer league game and if Horford plays matador defense the entire game.
  17. Oden's looking pretty depressed on the bench right now.
  18. you must not have been watching the game, he's not a monster.and BK labeled SW nba-ready. Every scout in the league would label Al Horford nba-ready. SW was about the tenth ranked prospect in a lesser draft, Horford was the third ranked prospect in the deepest draft in 5 years. How SW has fared in the NBA is completely independent of how Horford will fare in the NBA.
  19. Quote: Copy into WMP http://boss.streamos.com/wmedia-live/nba/9...ston_051201.asx thanks a lot. How are you able to get the address each time?
  20. anyone else unable to pick up the blazers game?
  21. Quote: Quote: Yi's footwork is QUICK! if he works on his defense, he could be a great player in the NBA. Yi is also the type of player, one with a culture and country on his shoulders, who will work harder than anybody to be great. This guy is going to punk us just like every other draft pick BK passed on. W haha is that what you gathered from this game? I don't care if Yi had 23 points, he looked pathetic on defense and couldn't keep position on Rudy Gay.The Hawks would have made a huge mistake in taking this guy over Horford. On a different note, has anyone else heard the commentators talking to each other in between breaks? They have no idea that their mics are still on. Hilarious.
  22. His feet aren't too quick on defense. I am so glad we didn't draft this guy.The announcers seem to believe he's 19. Bullshit.
  23. Rudy Gay and Yi matched up in the first half.First Half Stat LinesYi 5-11, 5 TOs, 3 Rebs, 7 fouls, 16 pointsRudy Gay 7-9 (2 for 2 on 3's), 6 rebs, 2 steals, 0 TOs, 1 foul, 19 points
