  1. Reverting to Iso Joe would only be an issue if we're doing it in the playoffs.
  2. Where's my "Bring in Keith Van Horn as a positions coach" option?
  3. I'm not sure Marc Gasol had 1% of his current trade value at the time he was traded. Other then that I agree. Just still don't know of a better alternative to resigning Joe, unless maybe Bob Sura was willing to come out of retirement.
  4. There's a big difference in an apple and horse s***. Let's see where a new coach can get us. And no one really mentions that Crawford and Mo are expiring and we have future firsts. The Lakers got Pau Gasol for a whole lot less than that.
  5. Yeah, not so much a backhanded compliment, but definitely a compliment. It was more making fun of the fans who are pissed we resigned Joe, as if we had any other options considering we're over the cap. I've never seen a fanbase angry at an ownership for spending money on an all star. Anyway, I suppose this topic shouldn't have been started, and I deeply, deeply apologize. It really takes away from insightful topics such as, "Hawks MANAGMENT Grabd your ***** and pull the offer" that had nearly 100 replies and over 1,000 views. That's some good stuff right there.
  6. Atlanta Hawks fans everywhere were enraged Sunday when news trickled out that the Hawks had successfully resigned Joe Johnson, a four-time all-star, to a 6 year max contract. The Hawks, who are over the salary cap, could not have signed any noteworthy free agents to fill the void that would have been left by Joe Johnson. When asked about this, a Hawks fan replied, "Yeah, I'm not stupid. I know we couldn't have signed any other big-name free agents like Carlos Boozer. But I still just can't escape the feeling that this money could have been better spent by the owners. You see, if they had not spent the money on Joe, they could have re-finished their mansions. Perhaps they could have each bought a new yacht. A fleet of new yachts could really help this team come playoff time. I just think it was a frustrating move by the ownership group to spend max money on an all-star player in his prime, when the potential benefit of spending the money elsewhere is so much more appealing to us as fans." Time will tell as to whether this move will pay off or not for the Hawks franchise. In the meantime, the Atlanta faithful are left shaking their heads at what could have been, if only the owners had instead chosen to support a slightly more extravagant lifestyle.
  7. At the very least, I don't expect to hear Drew yell, "Put da ball in da air, Joe. SHOOT IT!" ...Like we used to hear Woody yell. That's some high level coach s*** right there.
  8. I'm relieved we keep Joe and am excited to see what he can do under a new coach. 6 years at the age of 29 isn't that bad for a player like Joe, because he doesn't rely on his athleticism to be effective. Those type of guys can play at a high level through their mid-30s.
  9. Crawford has really quick hands on defense. I watched 2-3 Xavier games, and this stood out more to me than his scoring ability even.
  10. http://www.realgm.com/src_feature_pieces/864/20100211/trade_deadline_fantasia/ I don't like this trade at all, especially considering we could lose JJ in the offseason. We'd be left with a front-court that would benefit from a grind-it-out, half-court style of play, and a backcourt that is one of the worst in the league at defending (Bibby + Crawford). I don't see that combination working well together. Does anyone here actually think this would benefit the Hawks?
  11. One thing I noticed about that DA youtube video is that he doesn't keep the ball high when he's down low.
  12. You mean someone like Jamal Magloire? He's a huge step up from Solo. :no-no:
  13. The broadcast just started, and the atdhe link is working. Anyone know how to make it full screen? edit: double click on the video.
  14. Does anyone have a link to watch the game free online?
  15. I'm sure that if Josh Howard was paralyzed, in jail, or dead how well the Dallas Mavericks fared would be the least of his worries.
  16. Quote: Heck, even Jordan is on commercials more than Timmy. Even Jordan? He may be retired, but come on...
  17. Quote: This guy doesn't even live in Atlanta. How can the person in charge of the site not even live in the city? All he does is argue with people's opinions and doesn't offer anything productive here. OK, we all have OPINIONS, so quit pissing us all off and leave this site.Thanks.Gotta tell you (completely unbiased opinion here, by the way), what you've said in this thread lacks substance and makes you sound like a bitter, immature tool bag.I don't resort to name calling very often, but if you had made one halfway reasonable attempt at a point in this thread I wouldn't have felt the need to respond. It's also ironic that the people accusing dolfan of attacking them seem to be far more aggressive. This coming from someone who really doesn't care either way, and rarely uses this forum for more than just links to breaking Hawks news.
  18. Quote: I predict if Beasley does go to Chitown he''' eat Marvin or Smoove up has a rookie. My prediction is that won't happen.
  19. Quote: Yeah, I think it's entirely possible if he wanted Woody gone as bad as it seems and who knows when that started. It may not have been entirely (or even mostly) to screw Woody it could have been a big FU to the media who always dogged him about drafting SFs. I find it incredibly odd that a guy who is extremely thorough would give a guy a promise and not even look at anyone else the way that he did. It's not like we were talking about Lebron or something with the pick. It was a very questionable guy who most felt was a reach. You don't find that odd? WOW! There's absolutely no way a GM risks his own job to screw over the coach or to say FU to the media.
  20. And Terrance Morris from the Terps.
  21. Trajan Langdon's out there, too. Andersen just drained a 3 but then got subbed out for a breather. His current coach must be trying to get him adjusted to Woody ball in advance.
  22. Quote: well see... calling a flea flicker in football is retarded... the offensive system woodson has installed is retarded. neither will yield good results for the players.. get it now and do i need to slow down? You should've just said that his system was retarded, then, because that analogy doesn't work. No need to outdo yourself.
  23. Quote: Quote: I can't believe Woodson missed all those layups in the first quarter. Get him out of here! yeah i know.. what a brilliant game plan by woodson this whole series.. you think maybe we could have kept a single road game below 20 points? your a moron. i wonder how successful a nfl team would be if their coach called a flea flicker every play... cant be successful in a bad system I'm not going to argue with you about whether beating the Celtics three time was a success or a failure. But I really want you to elaborate on that flea flicker analogy. For a coach that is criticized for being overly conservative (unwilling to run after made baskets, scared to play young and developing players, hesitant to play players in foul trouble), I don't see how that makes any sense at all. Haha and thanks for calling me a moron.
