What's our obsession with Yi? He's another project forward that won't be ready to contribute for 3 years. It seems like the same people who advocate picking Yi are the ones already giving up on Marvin. So what, we take Yi and if he's not scoring 20ppg in his second season, we package him for the next hot prospect?

Wondering the same thing myself. Maybe they can field one in Europe.

If it were really a disagreement on talent, you'd be right. But this comes down to the dysfunctional nature of this franchise. If we don't get Amare and end up taking Yi due to some owners' private "business interests" at the expense of putting a winning team on the floor, fans should have every right to go root for a team that actually wants to win. After what I've heard the past few days, I'm not sure this one does.

My guess is if we end up picking at 11 (not trading it for Ridnour, Calderon, etc), then something big is in the works to move both picks after the draft.

To be honest, I can't remember exactly where, but I've seen "PF/C" in several places, although not "C" outright.

Well part of the answer to your questions has to do with the deal not being able to be officially consummated until after July 1st when NBA salaries change over for the year.

I'm not convinced the chances are that high. Several media outlets still seem very focused on the Celtics.

I think GS balked not knowing if Yi would be there. Rumor is they'll ship #18 and Ellis to Charlotte for #8, where Yi is more likely to still be available. Either way, Yi is definitely the target.

Good post...this was actually a question going through my head, and I can't come up with an answer. I love both options. I'm a little higher on Amare than Gasol, but you make some great arguments for Gasol that are hard to refute. I'm a big fan of Calderon as well.

Bynum's not ready to contribute. Don't want O'Neal. It's hard to see anyway to benefit the Hawks here, especially with the salaries involved (it'd be hard to make anything worthwhile work).
