  1. If you want to talk mega deal that will never happen... Green + Dalembert + Miller for Lue + AJ + Speedy + Lo + Zaza Yes, they have to take Speedy's contract, but that still leaves them with only 6 mil on the books for the next 2 years as opposed to 13 mil for the next 3 (for Green and Dalembert). Also gets them another couple mil off the books this year and another 4 mil next year (Zaza). Not advocating this. Not saying it has any chance of happening. Just fun to think about.
  2. This guy scores best without the ball, and within 15 feet. This was true last year. It's still true this year. Eventually he'll get some of those outside shots to fall, but not enough to justify taking them. But I'm sure there's a contingent on here who's Smoove-love distorts their vision. I'm sure Smoove's going to turn it around, shoot better than last year, make the all-star team (maybe even the MVP) and Marvin will get benched because he's not as good as he's playing this preseason and first 2 games.
  3. Quote: Josh Smith is not awful. He just needs to know what he's capable of and start playing more intelligently. He is not KG, he is not JJ, he is not Kobe. What he is is someone that can rebound, play tough defense, intimidate down low with some nasty blocks... and offensively...he should just stick to layups and dunks and putbacks. I think a lot of his bad plays are a result of not focusing...he needs to keep his head in the game and just play to his potential. He doesn't need to be a 20 point scorer...as long as he's doing his thing while keeping his turnovers low and shooting high percentage shots.........thats what he needs to be focusing on... Amen to that. But I'm sure his agent$ are telling him differently.
  4. Quote: Quote: He had 22 pts against a tough defensive team shooting 8-12 and played good D. Anyone still think Chill should be starting. JJ with another nice game after starting 1-5 he finished 9-17 for 23 pts. It is amazing that people he still dog him. We showed our age in the 4th quarter. I have one question about our offensive sets! It seems like the ball ends up in Josh Smith hands particularly at the top of the key a lot on offense! But Marvin can go multiple offensive possessions without touching the ball! Is that by design? Good question
  5. Quote: Quote: good lord. 2 games into the season we've beat one playoff team and narrowly lost to another and a nation of Paul Revere's have emerged. Josh Smith has been clumsy with the ball and apparently he's 3 hasnt got better...my response- so what.....Josh will start playing his game (getting away from the 3 and being tight with the ball) and he will be fine.... he needs no rescuing, he has been of the reasons why this team has progressed so much. all these threads going crazy about this person or that person sucks need to relax. THANKYOU! Just FYI, Josh has always been a poor shooter and tried to do too much with the ball. This isn't anything new, just worse than usual. And these aren't Paul Revere's coming out of the woodwork here (although I'm sure you meant Benedict Arnold). Many of us have been preaching on Josh's poor shooting skills for some time.
  6. Quote: Hey haters? STFU! 27% shooting and 14 turnovers in 2 games. Josh should focus on being a defensive specialist. But he knows that won't get him paid.

    R.O.Y.

Voters love PPG and hate the Hawks.
  8. I saw Marvin playing Madden one time. He played as the Seahawks. He's as good as gone.
  9. this. Live band mixed in with player footage. Seeing this at Philips would be hot. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yw8X51kyFow
  10. I think you're going to see a lot of situations like Cleveland is in right now with Varejao. These young guys are going to find out the hard way that the NBA's changing and teams aren't throwing max deals around. Salaries got so inflated that I think there's a bit of backlash about to come starting here with Cleveland. No more paying for potential. That being said, the one guy that deserved a max deal (Howard) got his. Hard to argue that there's anything wrong with paying Howard more than Iggy, Okafor, etc.
  11. Quote: What's wrong with you people? I already told you. I deal with the *** damn customers so the engineers don't have to. I have people skills; I am good at dealing with people.
  12. Only seats left are upper level, just a few rows from the top. So you'd better hurry if you want to go. My account rep for the season tix said they're opening up the 400 level (which they normally don't do for b-ball) but I'm not sure I'd want to watch a game from that high up.
  13. I'm sure if you promote that The Police are going to be playing at Philips, more people would show up.
  14. Quote: Quote: he is a tweener Actually, he's versatile Homer-ism at it's finest. He can't shoot like a 3. He can't defend the post like a 4. Tweener.
  15. It's hard to disagree with Joe here, but I seriously have to take issue with the timing. Right now the Hawks are as confident as they've been in a long time with 2 solid rookies, Marvin seemingly hitting his stride in the preseason, and riding high on a 7-1 preseason record. You've got these guys playing well together and very confident. Why would you then, as the star player, play buzzkill and come out and basically say we don't have the talent to make the playoffs. If Joe made these comments prior to training camp (which would seem the appropriate time to make them) and Sekou held onto them for opening night, then shame on him. Either way, this is bad timing on somebody's part. Is Joe going to change the chant in the huddle from "1,2,3 playoffs" to "1,2,3 we should have better players?". Woodson didn't help either. Where's the capitalizing on the strong preseason to rally the troups for what could be an electric night at Philips on Friday.
  16. And if I had the power to give Josh Smith a new nickname, I'd have to borrow a line from Talladega Nights. "They call me the Magic Man. Now you see me. Now you don't."
  17. I vote for calling Marvin "Hype". I think you're stuck with J-Smoove and J-Chill, can't see ever getting enough momentum to change those...
  18. Quote: However, for the record, we had a late first pick in that draft and traded for a future first round pick. We could have drafted Jamaal Tinsley or Tony Parker without using our 3rd pick. My bad. I forgot about that one.
  19. Hindsight is 20/20. Gilbert Arenas went 2 spots behind Parker. We could call every team in the league out for passing on Agent 0. Some of them passed on him twice. Houston passed on him 3 times. You don't hear fans of those teams whining. For the record, that was the year we drafted Pau Gasol and traded him for Shareef. So that's who we passed on Tony Parker for. And if we'd drafted Tony Parker with the 3rd pick, Hawks fans (including you) would've called for someone's head.
  20. Great stuff. Hadn't considered this, but I think you're dead on.
  21. He's playing pretty far from the basket. Taking a lot of jump shots...making them though. He'll be a great guy to team with Oden because he (Aldridge) looks like he can play the high post to Oden's low post.
  22. Quote: Well he has the Clippers winning 40 games and he also had Cleveland, Toronto, Washington not making the playoffs in the east. I don't take his predictions to seriously although it is nice to see the Hawks get some respect. He has all 3 of those teams at 39 wins, and I would say you can make an argument for any one of those. He also has Orlando at 36 wins. I'd take issue with that one over the others. I'm not saying that I necessarily agree with him, but I can see the argument.
