  1. Quote: we will probably be playing in front of a packed house I've been to just about every home game this year, and when it's a packed house, it's rarely packed with Hawks fans. I expect sellouts, but I expect the cheering for a KG basket to be just as loud (if not louder) than for the Hawks.
  2. Quote: I'm sure that teams have to think that he got SOME of the good basketball genes that his brother has. I didn't see anyone chomping at the bit for Marc Gasol
  3. Quote: Has the street cleanup/closings affected getting into town and Phillips? I usually take Northside all the way past the GA Dome and then swing around. That worked for me last night with no problems.
  4. If the Hawks make any move that results in Horford still playing the 5 next season, they are incredible short-sighted. They need to begin to mold this guy as the solid 4 he should be.
  5. Quote: 8-2 in the last ten. They've won 18 of their last 23...going from a record of 18-30 to over .500. Now that's good coaching!
  6. Quote: Quote: Where is our game thread (cool pictures you add) and those cool pictures you make??? Man, you are slipping. lol Did he make any for the last three games??? If not, than maybe this is a good thing. Either way, they sure are entertaining...
  7. Glad to hear you guys are OK. My girlfriend wanted to leave early, but I said "if this was the Clippers blowing us out, I'd be all for it. But the Hawks never blow anyone out like this. I'm staying til the end." That's when pieces of the insultation in the roof started coming down at Philips. I said "what the hecks that"....to which she replied "confetti." Now knowing the Hawks, I figured it was a little premature for confetti, even with a 30 point lead in the 4th quarter. That's when everyone and their mother started heading for the exits and we started getting calls that the tornado rolled through there. When we walked out, anything that wasn't attached to anything was blown over. All the smokers were running around loose cause their cage walls had been blown over Here's a pic I took.... http://www.ireport.com/docs/DOC-3687
  8. Quote: Just trade Zaza for ANYBODY. I just dont want him anywhere near a Hawks uniform next year. What?! What would the Hawks do without Zoolander?
  9. Because Josh Smith's shooting range is so limited, I still don't think we'd be a "balanced" team. I'm not sure that you can have balance in the traditional sense so long as we've got Smoove. He really is a tweener. Too small to be a true PF, doesn't have the range and handle to be a SF. That's going to make any offense that has him as the second or third option a little untraditional.
  10. First line says it all....even the national media is taking notice that these guys don't seem to want it enough... Quote: The Atlanta Hawks have a chance to end the longest postseason drought in the NBA, but lately they haven't been playing like they want to take advantage of the opportunity. http://scores.espn.go.com/nba/preview?gameId=280314001
  11. I think we'd all agree that JJ/Smoove/Horford need to start. Other than that, I'm all for mixing it up. We just need some fresh legs out there because these guys look gassed.
  12. Quote: Do we expect Smoove to start shooting 20-footers? Start? I keep expecting him to stop
  13. I don't think a rookie C will get us in the top 4. Do agree we need another scorer next to JJ, and like the idea of moving Big Al to PF, but we probably need an established C.
  14. Am I the only one watching the end of that game that thought Smoove cared more about getting 20/20 than winning the game?
  15. After tonight, we only play 3 more teams with winning records...so the stretch run really begins. I think another positive day is in order to kick that off right.
  16. Quote: Not the one who has beaten many respectable teams at home and actually has 4th best home record in the East That's like having 4th highest score on the PSAT out of the 15 kids in your class that got held back.
  17. Quote: what pray tell, in the past month has even remotely suggested to you that collectively the Hawks would love nothing more than a comfortable seat and an icy cold adult beverage come playoff time? Most of our guys are 21+ now so they can sit on their fat paychecks anywhere they so please to enjoy watching the real teams play come April. From watching them play, it looks like they'd like to get a 20 game head start on it.
  18. I'd argue Indiana's actually in a better position than us, going just based off schedule. They play fewer plus-.500 teams, the overall winning pct of their remaining opponents is barely over .400.
  19. Quote: They have a competant coach...well they actually have the COY just because of this streak alone. A coach who, by some accounts, called the ASG this past offseason interested in the Hawks job (well his agent called) and was turned away.
  20. Not the way Philly's playing. Sitting here watching the Bulls handle the Jazz, I'm hardly confident they even get the 8th.
  21. At the beginning of the year, Flip Saunders and Chauncey Billups talked about how Atlanta’s athleticism and the Hawks’ ability to switch defensively without leaving themselves vulnerable give the Pistons great difficulty. They made comments about how the Hawks length and athleticism allows them to rotate very quickly. Now, it seems like we're the exact opposite team defensively, and teams our exploiting our slow rotation to rain threes on us all night. What happened? Are these guys just not conditioned to play 82 games?
  22. Quote: I don't think they have quit, but they play tired. They certainly do on defense. My guess is the game plan against us is to wheel it around the perimeter until you find the Hawk defender dragging a$$, cause there's somebody taking a play off on nearly every defensive stance.
  23. Quote: If Hollinger says right now we would make the playoffs in the 8th spot, then wouldn't our odds of making the playoffs 100%? I don't understand this 36.9%? I doesn't make sense to me. It's based on simulations of the remainder of the season. Based how each team has played this season, with recent record being emphasized more than Nov/Dec record, it simulates the rest of the season (much like an NBA live sim - on a game by game basis). In 36.9% of Hollinger's simulations (I think he does 5000), the Hawks make the playoffs. That's where it comes from.
  24. Quote: Interestingly, our main competition for the final playoff spot is not New Jersey (at just 9.8%) but rather Chicago (32.7%) and Indiana (27.5%). This is due, I imagine, mostly to the fact that the Nets PPG differential to their opponents is over 2 points worse than the Hawks, Pacers, and Bulls. The Pacers are in there because their schedule is so weak. They only play 4 teams the rest of the season with winning records.
