  1. The UF game definitely. They could potentially lose to ASU and still end up in the title game because it's so early on in the season. It's harder to rebound from a loss late in the season, which has me thinking that (if we make it undefeated long enough) that the Auburn game could be the real do or die. LSU night game at LSU could spell trouble too.
  2. Quote: from Detroit in a S & T for Smoove? I know the sallaries wouldn't match up but, some others could be thrown in to help out. Does anyone else like that idea? Next year we let Bibby walk. That would really help with signing Marvin and/or Al. I don't think that's a bad deal for either team. Problem then is a big hole at PF (I don't think you'd want to start Maxiell - not on a playoff caliber team anyway). You'd have to then go seek to trade Marvin, Chillz (SnT), or (preferably) Bibby for another PF. I think that's a little more tweaking to the roster than Sund has in mind, but if it turns out that Smoove really does want out of ATL, that's not a bad way to go IMO.
  3. That really depends. I had one friend who was a drugged up mess on the couch for a few days afterwards, and it was about a week til he seemed totally back to normal. I, on the other hand, was a little sore (and took some getting use to the stitches) but was going about my normal activities the next day with no swelling at all. Realistically, you can probably expect something in the middle.
  4. Quote: The Clips next move is a tough one becausee it will tie up their cap space while there is a response to their contract. And in the meantime other teams will sigh the other players they have been interested in. I think they are screwed unless they come up with something really shrewed. It doesn't seem like they're in a rush. They've waited a good week to decide who they'll offer a contract to, what's another week to wait for the other team to match.

I would definitely take him, but don't think we could afford him (assuming we sign both Joshes) nor would he want to come here. He's carving his career out of the Horry mold...solid MLE role player that goes to whatever team he thinks will win it.
  6. Quote: with Clips today. I guess we could all figure that out by Sekou's story last night but Stein did say Smoove is the Clips 1st target followed by Okeafor and Biedrins. I'd love to hear their pitch. "Come play in the Staples Center and imagine what it might be like to be a Laker!"
  7. Quote: Zaza is useless as we all know I wouldn't go that far, but yes, we need to add a veteran big and shooter.
  8. link Going over the luxury tax limit by $1 could cost you $3M.
  9. I don't think it's likely that he only takes the one year deal, but in the event that he leans that way, I think we have to SnT to get something in return. Josh's cap hold is about $6.5 mil (which would be the one year offer he'd sign to become a UFA next year). If $11M for 5 years is on the table from the Hawks, he'd be giving up close to $5M this year hoping to make that back over the next 4. So if he does sign the qualifying offer, he's probably hoping for $13M+ per year.
  10. I would be very happy with K. Brown and J. Hayes to fill out the roster (and it doesn't hurt that they're both Georgia guys). I also wouldn't mind the Hawks getting a hold of Roger Mason.
  11. Charlotte paper seems to think Clippers may be interested in Okafor as well link The SI article said Smoove doesn't have the self-discipline to be a max player in a market like Philly. If nobody ponies up the big contract for Smith, maybe he'll play with a chip on his shoulder after some of these comments.
  12. Quote: I hate personal agendas on public forums ! Especially when an entire thread is created to pick a fight. Throw this piece of garbage in the trash ! I totally agree. I don't get the whole fighting thing. I understand differences of opinion, but why do we have to get in pissing matches over who's the biggest, smartest Hawks fan...
  13. Smith could always just sign the one year qualifying offer and become an unrestricted free agent next year.
  14. I think you're still on the books (cap-wise) for a year after you retire under contract. So I think he'd still count against our cap for this year.
  15. I like the first trade as well. Seems realistic and fair for everyone. The second I'm not as certain about, just because I have mixed feelings on Barbosa....but I definitely like the direction you're headed in.
  16. Quote: This guy doesn't even live in Atlanta. How can the person in charge of the site not even live in the city? All he does is argue with people's opinions and doesn't offer anything productive here. OK, we all have OPINIONS, so quit pissing us all off and leave this site.Thanks.Wow. Somebody walked out their door and forgot their balls this morning. "Somebody argued with me mommy....do something!!!" ...and you don't even have the brass to say that under your real ID
  17. Quote: Is he too redundant to Josh Smith I don't think so. Smith can play the 4. Wallace really needs to play the 3 to keep from getting knocked around so much. If he's going to extend his career beyond just the next couple years, he has to play the 3.
  18. Quote: 14. Pacers - full blown rebuild I agree with most of what you said, but I expect the Pacers to be decent. They made a late push at our playoff spot with O'Neal not contributing much, just by playing a fast paced game. Now they've got TJ Ford to push that game (so long as he's healthy) and a few more young bodies to run the floor, with otherwise the same cast as they had last year. I think they'll find a way to be in the mix as long as Ford is healthy. The only teams I'm not worried about are the Knicks and Nets. Those teams are going to be doing some odd things with their rosters over the next couple years to free up cash to throw at LBJ.
  19. Quote: I bet they would have taken the Marvin/Speedy package after all. Marvin is a better prospect than Yi and Speedy's deal isn't as bad as Simmons'. The Nets actually want Simmons' deal. It expires the year LeBron is a FA. (Jefferson's expires a year later)
  20. The 2 guys I'd have liked to see come to the Hawks this offseason were RJ and Michael Redd. This takes both out of play. Oh well.
  21. Quote: Are you from the Looie?? Originally, but been in Atlanta for a while now.
  22. I just don't understand all these arguments and trade proposals that assume that Marvin is a washed-up draft bust on our team, but he's a good young developing player to the rest of the league. Truth is: 1) we're not going to be able to trade Speedy until he's at least an expiring contract. Sorry, just because we don't want to pay this guy $6M to not even show up to games doesn't mean someone else does. 2) Marvin can't be trash to us and worth #3 to someone else. This isn't craigslist where you can scam over a potential buyer. Everyone in the league has seen this guy and has access to film on him if they need to see more. The difference between how much we value him and how much someone else isn't all that great.
  23. Quote: Al Horford and Joe Johnson No doubt. Those who argue for Josh Smith are letting the flashiness of his weakside help cloud their memory of his on ball defense. Sure, JS racks up the blocks and steals, but he also is an average on ball defender and often leaves his man with an open lane to the basket or an easy rebound when he goes for the block/steal. Let's not confuse sound defender with flashy defender.
  24. Quote: There are people who ride the short bus who could come up with better than this! Well I'm very happy to hear you kids on the short bus have finally got a good Hawks dialogue going.
