    Trae-DJM-Bey-Siakam-OO

    Trae-DJM-PG-Bey-OO

    Trae-DJM-Brown-Bey-OO

    Trae-DJM-Bey-OO-Lopez

OO needs starter minutes and id prefer it at the 5.

Those squads look good to and yes I definitely get it. Jaylen Brown, Paul George, KAT, Ayton are all on my list as far as that 3rd star. Honestly you're right too I'd rather have KAT with OO if I were going to move OO to power forward. Actually KAT could just be the PF. I was about to correct myself original post exchanging Ayton for KAT because I did say if we had it out way. I like Ayton Better as an overall player but KAT would be the best fit.

  2. If I had it my way mine would be

    Starters

    PG Trae Young

    SG Dejounte Murray

    SF Saddiq Bey

    PF Onyeka Okongwu

    C Deandre Ayton

    Bench

    PG Kobe Bufkin

    SG Bogdan Bogdanovic

    SF AJ Griffin

    PF Jalen Johnson

    C Brook Lopez

Honestly I'd be happy staying pat but with all the talks of more changes to come I doubt we do that. This team would give us size and I believe Onyeka can move into the power forward spot with a good shooting/3 point shooting Center. With Ayton the Hawks can have their "big 3" plus plus because of all the versatility on the team. I'd add KAT too but I'd doubt we'd be able to get him without tearing into our new youth movement (Bey, OO, JJ, AJ, rooks).

I think Suns may prefer Clint/Hunter/Bogi but to keep salary under wraps they may only be able to get 2 unless Saddiq Bey replaces Hunter but I know we want to keep Bey for the long haul. So I guess we'll see how it goes.

Honestly again personally I'd add Brook Lopez and stand pat but if we have to make a bang this is the route I'd go.

Looks bad but time will tell. I remember the outrage over the Reddish trade and it turned out to be whatever in the end.

Yeah even though the Reddish trade is still slightly different to me because I really believe he's a rare talent and if he gets his mind right will eventually blossom. Into just that.

Don't get me wrong JC is in rare air himself in many ways especially when at his best but with the way we've continued to use him it does not validate his price/value. He was the 4th option or less in many occasions even when he was considered our #2 guy. Capela and Hunter was getting more touches than him and in many cases unless an alley was thrown his way or he got open for the 3 JC was almost invisible out there compared to what he's worth.

Either way most people are judging our team based off of Nate McMillan's construction/philosophies and because of his lack to develop we didn't utilize our roster to it's full strength.

I usually don't bet on anyone but myself but I can almost guarantee this team even with the same faces will look completely different next season.

Atlanta pride month starts with a bang. Welcome to Atlanta, Rudy Gay. We need more vets on the bench. Glad to have you.

Funny thing is I always thought we stayed away from Gay even in his prime because of the perception of the city but I guess since most of this world has folded in that regard it won't be as much of a distraction to have to Gueye's/Gay's 😆.

  5. We clearly got robbed as far as the actual trade goes JC for (almost retiree) Rudy Gay and a future 2nd round pick. Let me be clear about that.

What if it was less of a robbery and more of a let's leave it outside and see if someone takes it situation.

I know last yr was a bad example but we truly are a very deep team with not enough minutes for everyone. Trading JC for a guy that should be great in the locker room but won't touch the floor is exactly what we needed.

It's a win win for both teams.

It leaves us flexible and allows our young hungry talent to have a spot cleared so they can freely hop into the rotation.

PG Trae Young SG DJ SF Hunter PF Bey C Clint

PG Kobe SG Bogi SF AJ PF JJ C OO

That's still a deep and talented team top to bottom. Knowing Quinn he might just play 9 which leaves Kobe out for more time to develop.

Either way our log jam is cleared, we're under the luxury tax and we're flexible enough to make more moves if necessary or the option becomes available.

Yes we got robbed but let's be honest a divorce was necessary for both parties and it also looks like a win win because of the things I've mentioned above.

Honestly. I didn't have that opinion of the man for 7.5 years. Regard for him was relatively high.

This last half year has seriously challenged me to think we have an uber-reactionary owner who purposely embraces a convoluted organizational management structure, specifically so that he's able to be an "invisible hand"... able to impose himself into big decisions yet able to claim with some legitimacy that he lets his basketball people make the decisions.

    Is he an idiot?

Depends on how you mean "idiot."

He's an idiot, to me, now. He's unstable--prone to embrace one approach one year, and a different one the next. He's prone to saying publicly what he wants people to believe, not what actually is... so he's not trustworthy. And his history is that he seeks out relatively inexperienced people to lead the basketball ops machinery in the organization... which... again, is part of his convoluted organizational management convictions. Hiring inexperienced people is cheaper, but I don't think that's the big deal... rather, inexperienced people are easier to roll over, and easier to lay blame as disappointments occur. That makes him spineless.

All of which, can be summed up as qualities of an idiot.

Oh. And I didn't even mention not especially self-aware. Who installs his own inexperienced kid into the basketball ops offices, and doesn't get it that naturally  people are going to recognize that as an overt mechanism for installing an information channel almost as good as hidden mics and cameras, piped in directly to the owner's desk? Who goes even farther and tells Jeff Schultz how much his kid is universally loved in those offices... as-if anyone would ever have the stupidity to say differently???

My jaw dropped on that one. That's some special self-confirmation bias going on there in the brain of our owner. Our  owner. *sigh*

He's not an idiot from his own perspective... he's rather simply sly.

He's getting what control he wants without having to endure the scrutiny like a Hal Steinbrenner or a Jerry Jones. So, in that way, he's really, really clever.

I'm not sure if idiot is the word I would use but definitely self sabotaging. All and all because Landry and company actually does have a good sense of what there doing the JC move may be a blessing in disguise for both parties.

In our case not just the money we saved and room accumulated but also I think people under value how deep we are as a whole and unfortunately someone needed to be moved in order to make room for others.

Of course Utah got a steal on their side (glad he's out west) and with JC playing on a team that should definitely make him more inclusive he should be able to reach levels we knew he was capable of and more.

I think when it's all said and done it will be a win win for both parties which ironically would make Ressler look more like a genius for putting us in this predicament.

So who’s Hunters replacement? Is he on this roster?

I envision my teams differently so I get it not being the norm but I would develop Mo Gee into that. A 6'11 small forward to pair with smaller guards to balance the length.

PG Trae SG DJ SF MoGee PF JC C OO/CC (either or)... MoGee makes a flexible enough to start the smaller Onyeka/JC combo but not lose defense and spacing.

If you want to keep it simple you could use Bey, JJ or AJ in that position as well.

I like Hunter he surprised me as far as his floor but his game currently does consist of a lot of ball stopping, non passing/movement that we need to get away from in order to take that next step.

If Hunter continues to work on his handles and passing ability this might be a different/mute story. If he continues along his trajectory unfortunately he may be a trade option.

It looks like as far as our team building goes we are looking for more fluid players than players that are a little more mechanical or robotic. Which is why players like Hunter, JC and Clint seem to be on the block.

What I'm looking at in these videos are his feet. I like them 🤓.  Playing only 4 years with this footwork already is impressive.

Ironically yes his footwork is very fluid but I was more impressed by his vision. Most bigs aren't good with passing out the post or in general at times but he's passing off the dribbles and all.

I didn't realize he was that skilled but he really has a complete package and if developed properly which I believe we should. A definite still at the #39 pick and if not mistaken got him from the Celtics(rivals) at that!

He's wearing #35 and really slick reminding me of Durant in that manner but I believe most of you all got it right with the Siakam comparisons.

If Lundy pans out too which I believe he could in the right system (hopefully ours), we could definitely change the narrative as far as our drafts in the 2nd round goes.

The thing that makes all our draft picks stand out to me this yr besides their talent is their maturity. They're more posed than your typical wide eye rookie and they seem to mean all business and have a strong love for the game.

If they all pan out this draft may in hindsight be talked about for yrs to come.

    Yeah.. Cheezy. Fixed: + Wrong

However, I like him.   I think he has great potential and like I said in another post, he seems to be farther than Lively offensively (IMHO).   He needs weight, experience, and some great coaching.   I think we can help him.

Nice try but you might regret that even more once you here how that's actually pronounced 😆

  10. Trae Young - didn't expect to be in trade rumors. Definitely didn't play his best last season and finally has a coach that he seems to be on the same page with. I believe after this yr the superstar talk for Trae Young will no longer fade until he's pass his prime.

Dejounte Murray just witnessed a player being drafted by the name of Kobe Bufkin that has a very similar mold and game to himself. Plus he's in a contract yr... On top of the $$ motivation competition should also bring out the best in him.

DeAndre Hunter has been mentioned in the mold of baby Kawhi and still has the potential but is currently far from that. If he continues to work on his handles and gets back to his staple on defense I believe his game will be a lot more consistent this up and coming season and his expectations for himself should elevate him as well.

John Collins as the biggest name in trade rumors on our team for yrs now. I think he is starting to realize the only way to get out of Atlanta is to play his way out of Atlanta by raising his value. I believe in the midst of him trying to do just that and with the familiarity he has with this team he'll realize the grass isn't greener elsewhere and we'll realize the same as far as him still being a great option on our team. His finger is about as healed as it will be and this is the yr JC gives the finger to his low trade value.

Clint Capela has also been hearing his name in trade rumors and is the type of guy that can go as hard as the team goes. If we truly play with grit, defense and like we want to win Clint will make sure he does his part.

Onyeka Okongwu will definitely be coming for Clints position this season which should continue to elevate both of their efforts and game.

Bogdan Bogdanovic at the very least will play hard for the 6thman award and ready to fill in as a starter if trades or anything occurs.

Jalen Johnson/AJ Griffin both have seen/shown small glimpses of their potential and are hungry to get and keep playing time.

Saddiq Bey like Murray will be playing for a contract but unlike Murray he's also playing to keep a legitimate role or bigger role on this team. He's seen what it's like to play for a bad team in this league and doesn't mind giving that extra effort or filling whatever role necessary to win. He also will have a full season with the team which helps strengthen the chemistry and overall production.

Rookies typically automatically come with chips to improve their game. With the ones we drafted Kobe Bufkin, Seth Lundy and Mouhamed Gueye as well as Tyrese Martin they should be working hard every day to improve in hopes of getting playing time. If anything they should at least keep the College Park Skyhawks interesting.

Motivation is a key factor in all actions especially sports and watching Miami do what they did was motivation especially for us seeing what they did to us the yr before last and what we were able to do to them in the play in tournament. Add that with us now owing Boston and Milwaukee as well. To top it off besides guys like OO, JJ, AJ, Bey and Bogi most of our guys know they didn't put it all there or play to their best abilities last season it will be very interesting to see the mentality they come with this season but if they really love the game they should all have that extra edge.

I think Laundry Fields will be watching closely for that this season which will determine who stays and who goes by seasons end.

I believe our front office has the biggest chip of them all to prove their relevance and looking at the moves they've made so far like getting Saddiq Bey without losing pieces and the draft we just had they are definitely moving in the right direction.

  11. Right now as surprising as it may sound I think our best current 1st round match up will be against Milwaukee.

We've done a pretty good job of going toe to toe with them (atleast under Nate) and if coach Quinn utilizes the old staff correctly to keep that edge it might give us the momentum and confidence needed to keep propelling forward.

    If you had to…

    Bonus points:

    To what team for who?

Bogi for J Crowder and Shamet possibly 2nd rounder.

We could use the toughness that Crowder brings and him and Shamet can help with our outside shooting. With Crowders experience and defensive mindset he can help change the moxy of our team and leave Trae who has been getting better as one of the only weak defenders on the squad.

  13. Sometimes there's nothing wrong with the parents or partners as individuals but sometimes it's just not the best pairing.

I've watched Trae undermine Nate the past season and things haven't really gotten better.

When I saw Dejounte do it with our game verses the Nets I knew there was a problem. Nothing against Nate and I honestly think he's a pretty good coach but doesn't seem to be relating correctly to our young stars.

We all know Trae is capable of more than he's been doing this yr. We could talk about trading players but we honestly have a lot of talent and who wants another rebuild?

I guess my question is who would actually fit with these young stars and lead them instead of so much turmoil and conflict. Off the top of my head it would have to be an old player they respect. AI lacks the discipline but is TMac looking into any coaching options?

He would definitely further unlock DJ's game, he actually played with us one yr so has some kinda ties to the organization and Trae has shown the last 2yrs for the most part that coaches aren't the key factors to players winning on the court.

If they can respect a guy like TMac at this point he will probably be our best option if we end up changing coaches at all. I'm nervous about Nash else I would include him but what do y'all think?

  14. As much as I like our players individually until we start playing as a unit or a fist as Nate constantly says it's hard to watch at times.

At the same time we are not even halfway thru the season. I've said this all yr but this is probably the most balanced the league has been all yr.

Dallas was out of the playoff runnings either a month to 3wks ago and I look up and there in 4th place with room to do more.

Saying all that to say is just like Atl has been the "New Hollywood" our basketball team could be replicating the same thing. "The New Hollywood" filled with a season of drama but us putting it all together at the right time by the end of the season.

Trae has been in enough commercials to let me know he doesn't mind a little acting. Not saying this is an act but looking at the standings we are 10 wins away from being at the top. Sure the East is a beast and no joke this yr but we are still right in the thick of things.

Atleast for now lol. Seriously though every team or atleast most are going thru a thrill ride of ups and downs this season and for us in particular I'd like to get our downs out the way earlier instead of later. We have the talent/players although we could add more height/defense/toughness. Hopefully we can put it all together at the right time.

  15. Well if Dejounte knew how to throw allies to our bigs or was willing to this could've been a win.

We looked good without Trae at times and I could see a Hunter and Clint added to that would be deadly defensively.

Until Dejounte learns to truly utilize our bigs like Trae can and also more consistent on his shots our team would honestly be better as a unit if we play as a unit.

  16. Whether we're looking at below or above .500 or who stays and who goes, today will be a big determinating factor.

Being only 5 wins away from catching Milwaukee, Cleveland and even Brooklyn who we are facing tonight. 8 wins away from tying league leading Boston.

Honestly when we look at it that way it's laughable that people are bringing/having so much drama when it relates to our team.

This year is probably the most balanced the league has ever been since having 30 team seasons. The drama comes though because even though the league might be tough, we aren't playing up to par.

Yes that means we're 17 - 17 but could be up a lot more if we played to our full capabilities. That's not laughable and it seems to point to our young superstar who has been playing more like an all-star at best this yr.

We once again may not be playing with atleast 3 starters tonight. Which makes this game a lot harder but also makes this a good assessment game.

We are going to see if we hold back or show off because even though it hasn't been many games without Trae Young, we're undefeated this season without him.

Without 2 of our best defenders we also get to evaluate our possible future in having an OO/JC frontcourt or moving on from that convo. It will show if Dejounte Murray is or would be a better floor general for us than Trae.

A lot of things will be something to watch closely. There's a lot of pressure on this game in many ways then one. Pressure is good for those that are mentally and physically prepared for pressure.

Pressure creates contenders and potential champions. We will soon see if this team or what players can handle this pressure which may decide what our team looks like in the near future.

I think we have a good team that need some additions to be a contender. We are a good team, still not great.
Young/Murray are a good backcourt. No change
Capela is a good starting center. No change.

Hunter and Collins are good forwards, but I am not convinced about the fit. They should provide shooting , size and defense to fit with Trae bad defense and Capela lack of shooting. They are still young and can improve but I see some lack of strength on Collins that is bad for the team and lack of passing on both. At some point we could look for a trade for a better fit.

AJ Griffin and Jalen Johnson are really good rotation players with a lot of upside, at some point they could even replace Hunter and Collins, I am eager to see the impact they can have while Collins and Hunter are out. I am starting to think we could have good results.

Bogi and OO are good players but I am not convinced about the fit. OO is not a backup center for Capela, they don’t fit, we need a bigger player that can shoot, I would definately think about trading OO for Bamba. I think Bamba would be a perfect fit for this team and OO would be perfect for Orlando. Bogi is a good player, good fit for DJM but really bad fit for Trae, he is also injury prone. I see Griffin as a good SG for this team and I wonder if we could find a good SF with size for Bogi.

Aaron Holiday, Krejci, Culver are good rotation players, we lack a big, a big guy that can defend and provide minutes against big centers.
Justin Holiday, Kaminsky need to go

Sounds good until you look across the league. Who has a perfect team? Most have great teams. I like Bamba although I'm thankful we didn't take him over Trae. I get your point but it's a give and take in this league.

Who are these players who would be easily tradeable and replace or be a better fit than what we have? Again I get needing size and still like Mo Bamba although I'd bet it would be more that complain about him if we had him over OO.

We had Cam which is an ideal type of player to play with Trae and that didn't work for whatever reason. So many talk about trading John but how many versatile inside out forwards with the kinda consistency and growth he's had is out there? Shooters go thru slumps even the best of em. John before this season has been an added bonus in that regard.

Hunter is getting more and more consistent but since we have a complete team doesn't have to be that extra star for us to win games although the potential is there and again most of our good players are under the peak age of 26.

Yet we're still 4th with an opportunity to rise and individually get better as well as overall get better. This proves my point when I say we're spoiled as fans.

Look at the Celtics who stuck with their team and have been thru it longer and are older than us overall. If we're honestly speaking/projecting our team is built better if we consider them at their prime vs us when we reach ours yet we lack the patience to sit back and enjoy the growth.

As a franchise no. As fans yes their are plenty around here that forgot or don't know what it took to get here and where we were before hand. It's a process.
