  1. I went two years ago when we drafted Horf and Acie. Honestly, it was just okay at best. I'd rather watch it at a bar or at home. Now things might be different this year because we have gone to the playoffs two consecutive years, but people just were not that into it which really disappointed me.
  2. Draft Express just updated their draft, and they have us taking Earl Clark. http://www.draftexpress.com/nba-mock-draft/2009/ Maynor and Teague are both taken after the Hawks pick, and I can't see us not taking a PG.
  3. Thank god I go to college in Dallas!
  4. When Utah began the 3rd quarter on that mini run, I said to my dad "here we go again." The Hawks stepped up in the nth degree, and put away a fantastic Utah team. Great win HAWKS
  5. Could someone say "If you would have taken Marta, you'd be there by now!"
  6. And another miss, come on Joe make us proud
  7. Not to mention that ridiculous dunk he had tonight. Gotta love the highlights!
  8. One piece of the puzzle is in place, TOR is about to knock of ORL!
  9. I am working at CNN this week as a paid intern, so I'll be there at 5:30 hitting up Great Wraps. I bought tickets today in the upper deck, and on 790 tonight they said there are a few seats still available. I have to imagine it will sell out by tomorrow night. Phillips' is going to be straight rocking come Wednesday.
  10. TJ Ford always dominates us. I do not feel confident about this game especially early on down by 10
  11. I hope we go out tonight and tomorrow to show every writer/analyst/fan that the Hawks are a legitimate contender. Assuming Josh Smith misses only a few weeks with his ankle injury, are you buying the Hawks (who were 5-0 entering Tuesday night's game at Chicago)? Thomsen: Yes, because they have talent and they're beginning to believe in themselves. They needed a strong start and now that they've evaded early questions about coach Mike Woodson's future, they can be aggressive. All teams (even the Spurs) are fragile, but the Hawks have a lot of scoring and Joe Johnson, especially, has been terrific. Burns: Buyer beware. This is the Hawks we're talking about here. I love the way they are defending as a team and sharing the ball, but they have gone off on these little runs before (just not at the beginning of the season) only to revert back to bad habits. With guys like Flip Murray and Solomon Jones playing key roles, I'm going to need to see more. McCallum: I am buying the Hawks for this reason: They are in the East. They gained a world of confidence with last season's seven-game playoff loss to the Celtics, and, really, who are we asking them to be better than? Orlando? Philadelphia? No big deal. They will contest for first-round home-court advantage. Mannix: The Hawks have beaten probable playoff teams Orlando, Philadelphia, New Orleans and Toronto, and they have been outstanding at making opponents pay for committing turnovers. But I'm still not buying it. The bench took a body blow when it lost Josh Childress, and as well as Flip Murray has played in his absence (12.4 points in 23.4 minutes), I don't see it holding up for an entire season. Plus, I still think the Smith-Woodson relationship is a powder keg waiting to explode. Smith thinks he is an All-Star; Woodson is not convinced. How those two manage the season will be critical to the Hawks' success. Aschburner: No. Way back when I actually had a few dollars in my IRA to move around, I learned to buy on the dips. This terrific start is no dip for the Hawks, who reportedly have been a coach's dream through the season's first two weeks, embracing defensive chores and everything for Woodson. Again, though, it's the first two weeks. Staying relentless enough over a full season to lock down opponents -- they are allowing 85.8 points and 40 percent shooting through five games -- requires tons of work, focus and discipline. I don't think the young Hawks have that in them yet. Besides, they need another shooter.
  12. A complete mess, I mean come on Peja Drobnjak used to be our starting center for crying out loud. Let the good times roll.
  13. Is there any update on Abe's? He looked shaken up, but nothing too serious.
  14. If we keep winning, there is no way we don't get on TV especially with us playing Boston so soon.
  15. I am sad to see Tex go, but we get Kotchman who is a cheap 1B who has comparable numbers at his age with Big Papi David Ortiz. What else were we going to get for a 2 month rental who doesn't deliver clutch hits?
  16. The biggest priority is still resigning Josh Smith. I hope Sund is busy at work talking with Smoove's agents.
  17. Wow, we are completing dominating the Warriors
  18. I personally like the signing especially because it only cost us 7.5 million opposed to 9-10 million that people had been discussing earlier. Hopefully, he can be a consistent three point threat and a guy who can play tough perimeter defense as has been advertised. It's a start guys
  19. http://www.ajc.com/sports/content/sports/h...ress_evans.html The Hawks didn't waste any time filling the void left by Josh Childress, who signed a three-year deal with a Greek team Wednesday. Journeyman Maurice Evans has agreed to terms with the Hawks on a three-year deal believed to be worth about $7.5 million, according to multiple sources familiar with the situation. RELATED STORIES Hawks fill Childress' void by signing Evans Q&A on Childress leaving the Hawks Examining the numbers on the Childress deal More Hawks coverage Evans was reportedly close to signing a three-year deal with Golden State on Wednesday, one California newspaper reported. But that was before Childress bolted for the Euro league and before the Warriors decided to match a three-year, $9 million offer sheet to their own restricted free agent swingman, Kelena Azubuike, from the Los Angeles Clippers Thursday. Evans, a six-year veteran, started 47 games last season for Orlando, the Hawks' Southeast Division rival, including all 10 playoff games against Toronto and Detroit for the division champs. He could slide into the sixth-man spot vacated when Childress opted for a deal with Greek power Olympiakos. Evans, a 6-foot-5, 220-pound swingman, averaged 9.3 points and 3.1 rebounds in 68 games last season after being traded to Orlando from the Los Angeles Lakers. Evans, 29, has a reputation as a tenacious perimeter defender and opportunistic offensive threat. He's a career 37 percent shooter from beyond the 3-point line, and averaged a career-high 9.3 points last season. Evans played the best game of his NBA career against the Hawks in April. He scored a career-high 27 points in a 121-105 win over the Hawks on April 15 at Philips Arena. Since the start of the 2001-02 season, Evans has logged time with Minnesota, Sacramento, Detroit, the Los Angeles Lakers and the Magic, his longest stint with one team being the 2006-07 season with the Lakers and the seven games he played last season before being traded. The Lakers traded Evans and Brian Cook to the Magic last November for Trevor Ariza.
  20. You cannot trade Jsmoove. That's final. From a front office financial standpoint, he is going to sell a bunch of tickets because people want to see the sick slam dunks. From a team standpoint Josh a lot of the times make guys around him better. Teams have to respect his ability to drive and jump and if he can really get his dishing under control teams will have to respect him that much more. Once he gets can add a jumpshot to his repertoire, he will unstoppable. He loves the A, and whether people like to admit it or not, Hawksquawk and fans love him. Yeah he makes some boneheaded plays and tries to take on too much, but remember he's ONLY 21. Yeah 21. Watch out
  21. I am embarrassed as well, but you have to remember that this is a bunch of 21-25 year olds playing with the weight of a city desperate for a win on their shoulders. They simply could not handle the pressure and lost. The c's came out on a mission and we did respond.
  22. Maybe JS was trying to beam up to the spaceship with Cassell after the game? Just throwing it out there..
  23. Added to the list of advantages is that Boston did not fly back home until today. They have no real time to practice/chill/ice down. The Hawks flew to Bos last night and practiced today, so hopefully that helps ATL out.
  24. How does S A S still have a job. David Aldridge I miss you buddy
