Well if you look back at the 60 win season we didn’t need rebounds since we were a top 5 offense in the league and we were pretty poor at rebounding then again we also made a ton of shots that year. id rather be as close to the championship warriors as possible and be an efficient and top offensive team and still be very good at rebounding

Good! I’m actually glad about that . I don’t really like JJJ at the 4 over Collins .

Agree with all of that. Only thing is I don’t JJJ can be elite as a 4...I think his defense is better served as a 5 to get the most out of him on that end but then again it all depends on who is at the 5 along with him

This is exactly my train of thought. JJJ is valuable but rebounding is a major problem....STILL. the way I have it JJJ is better at PnP and just ok at PnR whereas Collins is way better at PnR and decent enough at PnP that he can torch you once he gets going. JJJ has defensive anchor written all over him . Collins not so much but trying to improve. its a tough trade! There’s some good and bad in this deal but I see why Schlenk likes it (It’s a defense trade for us) but I hate it doesn’t resolve the rebounding issue as it’s still staring at us in the face even if JJJ could improve the defense with his presence . Getting Trez over the summer at the 4 doesn’t help that issue he’s not better than Collins either at rebounding and he tires out faster. Really right now there isn’t a 4 out there that is available who is better than Collins at rebounding unless supes know of someone but a good 4 is more likely to be available than a modern era 5 like JJJ. I really think Schlenk is in full all in mode on JJJ because of his rareness at the 5...that’s it! Like you said a defensive channying Frye but this kid does have DPOY potential.

Who knows ???? But Jonas isn’t a bad center at all. He’s definitely a lot better than anything we have here currently.

PnP would be better than Trae and Collins but not PnR. Overall I think Collins is more reliable more versatile on plays that involve the screener

I think it’s as a simple as they not believing that JJJ is a power forward. Like supes said Collins is a better scoring big man though JJJ is a better shooter.

Makes sense to me . I don’t see neither of those guys as modern day PFs either not that they can’t play the 4 but yeah they’re 5s. the only question I have moving forward (and not asking you this supes in specific) but how badly do the hawks want the type of center they want ???.....do they value locking down the Modern day center that’s rare ( “protect the rim, guard in space and have great length defensively“ ) over keeping JC??? I’m beginning to think that there may be discussions on what type of big man is more valuable and harder to get moving! And that’s no disrespect to Collins it’s just the way the league is now. I’m very confident in saying I KNOW Schlenk would rather have Turner or JJJ type of center over Adams and Drummond type . But that guy is rare to get and sometimes during rebuilds this is where you have to make an extremely tough decision that may get backlash from fans and media in the beginning. JJJ or Turner may only be better than Collins at defense but who’s more rare to get on your team? I think that’s the mindset.

I don’t see it that way JJJ is not a PF to me . I think if Atlanta is trying to make him a PF you’re better off keeping Collins but if Atlanta wants to get their center position locked up then yeah you trade for JJJ and don’t look back. He’s the type of center every team in this era wants (tall, long, defense, 3s)...if grizz are willing to take collins and a first for that you almost HAVE to do it .

Sounds good but I don’t like it I don’t know why! I think it may be the chemistry between Trae and Collins that we are risking in all of this. i like Trez but I don’t know if I like him as a starter plus he can’t shoot. i know we shouldn’t worry too much about JC being traded as you’ve stated but when trades make sense on both ends I give them a high chance of happening just on my own opinion .... this one just makes too much sense for grizz and hawks. And only makes sense for the hawks being that it’s likely they feel the center they want is going to be harder to find than another pf and most with a brain would probably agree with that .

Damn I just thought of this ....do the hawks think Hunter can play PF full time if they were to trade to get JJJ?

It is interesting one but it’s weird as hell before seeing if Collins can be better with an actual Center . i mean the grizzlies don’t see JJJ as a PF so why would we bring him here to play the same position if we bring in Adams too? i think JJJ is a center move...he’s not a PF like Collins that’s my issue with it. It’s creating a hole at PF instead of Center but taking care of the center position long term! It’s smart and confusing all at once . I can’t fully get behind it.

I’m sorry but I don’t like JJJ for Collins and I will admit JJJ is a two way guy and better 3pt shooter but Collins is a way better screen setter and rolling guy to the basket as well as just having that ability to get himself open looks. In a way I think Collins is a better offensive player though he’s not a better 3pt shooter then JJJ I don’t know man I see why Schlenk is interested in this one ...that one is kinda scary simply because it does make sense to trade Collins for JJJ (somewhat!) .... the grizzlies would do it to pair with morant obviously but they also have a decent center already valcuneas (I know I spelled his name wrong) lots to think about on this one...it’s a great opportunity for Schlenk to get a center that really fits this modern era to the T! But then you’re back to looking for a good PF????

Completely blasphemous! But it’s the new nba era what can I say! If we are going to have a coach encourage this type of play and give the “ultimate green light” to the whole team however and Schlenk is behind it ....then we may need to revisit the talks with Drummond and consider the extension he wants ...shit maybe Drummond can justify 30 mil if we are launching all these damn 3s!... LP says he’s not joking so you can bet your ass we are going to need a very good rebounder! Drummond will probably avg 20 rebs in such an offense that is launching them away like that! No exaggeration. i don’t think Drummond is worth 30 mil but if we are going to play like the rockets (yuck!) ...then I actually think he may be worth something close to that price per year. I love and hate this analytical thinking in this era.

Not going to lie you have a great point. There’s no telling how good collins will be once he has a good starting center next to him! He’s worth holding on to unless the player in return is simply too talented to pass up.

Surprised it never stopped. What I can’t understand is why they would Keep pursuing Drummond if he’s stuck on his 30 mil per and they aren’t ready to commit to some kind of extension .....are they interested in his bird rights perhaps ? Is his bird rights an asset for Schlenk?

I’m worried @NBASupes new info coming is going to have to do with John Collins being involved! If that’s the case I’m totally against that trade! I don’t care if it brings back a top center or not. im not looking forward to the update but then I am. collins is more special than I thought! I can’t think of a trade I’d think is reasonable for Collins unless we are talking Towns in the deal
