  1. well said. i guess thats that woody offensive scheme. (that sucks and is holding us back from being elite cause we already have the players we just need the offense coordinator)
  2. First lets discuss woody:here's my thoughts im not going to lie for a very long time i was a woodson supporter and still is but i have been blind i guess cause it took me 4 years to notice that woodson isnt good for nothing but defense. So i dont hate woodson like some of you do or just see nothing wrong with him like some of you do. oh there is plenty wrong with woodson and its his offense and i agree he doesnt motivate sometimes but sometimes i do see him motivate, so its so-so with that. anyways the major problem is that he just doesn't know how to run a offense man! just too many iso's, but woodson does have our team in the top 10 defense teams in the nba over the regular season. So woodson is good for something. He reminds me alot of cavs coach brown; he also dont know s**t on offense but he is a good defense coach. unlike the hawks the cavs took care of this situation by hiring a offense coordinator over the off season something we need to do to help out woody this off season. Then i can promise the hawks will get to that next level as long as woody does the defense and someone else does the offense that can run it and we are good. again just my opinon and it does make sense. Second lets get on johnson: heres my thoughts Ok i know some of you just hate johnson saying he isnt a star but to be fully honest and i am not a woody hater but he's holding johnson back and its obvious. again woodson knows nothing about offense. johnson can be so much better if he had an actual offense scheme. I mean damn man all we run are iso's the whole damn time forcing johnson too make passes out of double teams and we also run iso's with other players and thats just dumb too. another reason johnson may seem like he isnt a star to you guys is because the team never constantly moves. When joe gets the ball they all look at him but when you see lebron get the ball and iso do you see his teammates just looking at him?.........hell no they are always and i mean always moving. an its not the atl players fault, its the coaches fault i mean he tells them to do this crappy iso offense game they are playing and just stand there and let johnson do all the work. Now yeah sometimes they are moving but no where near enough. Why does it work so well at home you ask? well if you notice everybody is better at home even the elite teams like the lakers, cavs, and celtics, no they dont have losing records on the road but they are still better at home. I mean look at the celtics vs hawks playoff series last year. the celtics needed that home court to finish us off. Now for the haters on johnson. yeah he said he was tired but who can blame him. anyways lets talk about those 10 shots he took. no need to get in detail. heres a link from ajc of why johnson just took 10 shots again woody is behind this too he doesnt want joe to shoot he just want him to make the pass to the open man. Woody knows nothing about offense. johnson even says he needs more shots but woodson disagrees: http://www.ajc.com/hawks/content/printedit...lid=inform_artr P.S. an i just had to add this why we are on the topic we are not getting a new coach. i mean we havent been to the second round in years and you think they are going to get rid of woody. What we should hope for is that woody gets a good offense coordinator so he wont be calling the plays for us next season. also if you think johnson isnt a star you are crazy the only reason he looks so bad is because there is no offense scheme. an we say we want an elite player like cp3,lebron,kobe,or wade to replace johnson uhhhhhfirst off theres only a handful of elite players. every team in the nba does not have an elite player in fact most teams have just starz like johnson, plus what makes you think these teams would give up they stars of their team. Bottom line we have a team with good players and defense. just know offense scheme point blank. we need to get woody some help atl cause he aint goin no where.
  3. lol. man i hope not but if he is.......not my business. i dont care if he or johnson or anybody else was gay as long as we win...................................ok nevamind that is a little disturbing if the whole team was gay even if we were winning.lol. lets just hope nobody in professional sports is gay. :angel19: :angel19:
  4. you said it bra! atl enjoy the win cause we went through hell to get it!!!!!! bravo hawks!!!!!!! :thumbsupsmileyanim: :thumbsupsmileyanim:
  5. Uh hello haters we just won a game on the road and yes we suck *ss on the road but we won this one cause it mattered. Oh yeah lets leave woody alone you bone heads act like woody tells smith to take those dumba** shots or tells players to start getting emotional and start fouling for no reason(bibby). woody might not be a good coach but if u actually watched this game woody told smith to stop taking those jumpers and go to the goal and he never got mad at his team, he just kept giving them more confidence as the game went on. besides that lets just enjoy this win and hope we get to the second round!!!!! GO HAWKS!!!! I dont care how we get the win I just care if we win. Winning makes everything better!!!!!!!!!! Oh yeah we got homecourt again!!!!!!!!YES GO HAWKS!!!!!!!!!!!
  6. uhhhhhhhhhhh are u complaining............... :lol6: :lol6: get real man we won, and got homecourt back
  7. Wow hold on everybody!!!!!!! I was reading these comments on my other post about chillz possibly coming back to the NBA and I just want to make it clear that I know we dont need chillz I was just recommending that we pick the guy back up if he decides to come back to the NBA. Ya know just to add a extra player to our bench thats pretty damn decent. I mean u can never have to much depth on your bench, think about it: bench= 1.flip 2.mo evans 3.chillz 4.solo jones or whoever 5. zaza I think u can spit the minutes between these guys with no problem. I dont see chillz hurting us at all but only making us better. P.S. I dont have anything against acie or west I like all the hawk players because imma fan but i just think acie isnt being wat we expected him to be and west.....well theres no prob wit west he brings us good energy. I enjoy seeing him run around the court nonstop like a maniac. Anyways I say we get him back just to help us out more on the bench or we sign and trade him. Chillz is a good player to have even if the minutes does go down for flip and mo, i mean wat if one of our players go down again next season that just makes are bench less weak and forcing one of our good bench men to be a starter!
  8. I would love to see childress comeback this year but my only question is that if he does return for next season is he a free agent or do we hold rights for his contract cause I heard we do if he was to return to the nba. does anyone know any info on this? cause it would be great to see childress along with murray and evans coming off the bench!!! link: http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?page=predictions09/nba
  9. I feel horford is Ok, and he will get better as the season goes on. There is no need to trade a possible future star.

    Hawks Defense

Ok I think our hawks have heavily proved that their defense is horrible without J Smoove, but I do have to say that our hawks have no problem scoring with or without J Smoove. I'm happy to see that the hawks can drop points like crazy with this somewhat new roster. Flip and Mo are doing great! Hawks lets get back on a winning streak and play that hardcore defense we started out with in the beginning of the season. GO HAWKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  11. Can teams still offer a contract to the Joshes now that its the 9th of July? I hope they cant! That would be great.
  12. I'm getting a little worried now we have two teams to worry about taking smith and or childress, but I wanna know if we are still capable of matching ANY offer they throw at Smith and Childress. Can ANY offer be matched?
  13. Quote: How do we do that exactly since their salaries would have to match. I swear we need a salary cap tutorial on this board. I explained how we would do it already on another thread.
  14. Quote: It's kinda hard to figure out what you're talking about when you say "When Smith leaves, we should sign and trade for Lamarcus A." I said if not when. Of course I want smith to come back.
  15. Quote: 16 Million for 16 Million won't work for a resigned Smoove. Smoove will be BYC. Quote: 73. What is "Base Year Compensation?" How does base year compensation affect trades? Why does it exist? Base year compensation (BYC) prevents another salary cap loophole. Without BYC, a team over the salary cap that wants to trade a player, but can't because of the Traded Player exception (which says teams can't take back more than 125% of the salary they trade away), could just sign the player to a new contract that fits within the desired range, then do the trade. BYC says "if you re-sign a player and give him a big raise, then for a period of time his trade value will be lower than his actual salary." BYC defines the salary that's used to compare players for compliance under the Traded Player exception (see question number 68 for more information about the Traded Player exception). Usually the salary used for comparison is the player's actual salary. But under either of the following circumstances, a different salary is used when comparing salaries for trading purposes: * The team is over the salary cap, used the Larry Bird or Early Bird exception to re-sign the player, and the player received a raise greater than 20% (unless it's the minimum salary). * The team is over the salary cap, it extended the player's rookie scale contract, and the player received a raise greater than 20%. If either of the above apply, then the player is considered a base year player. A player remains a base year player for six months, or until June 30, whichever comes later. When trading a base year player, the salary used for comparison is the player's previous salary, or 50% of the first-year salary in his new contract, whichever is greater. Here is an example of a BYC calculation: A player earned $2 million in 2004-05, after which he became a free agent. He then signs a new contract (re-signing with his previous team, which is over the salary cap) starting at $9 million. This player qualifies for BYC, so his trade value is the greater of his previous salary ($2 million) or 50% of his new salary ($4.5 million), or $4.5 million. So this player, who actually earns $9 million, is worth $4.5 million for trading purposes. When comparing salaries for trade, teams use their own player's BYC value and the other player's full salary, even if the other player is also BYC. Here is a simple example -- two $5 million players, both of whom are re-signed (by teams over the cap) for $10 million. Both players become base year players whose base year amount is $5 million (50% of the new salary). If the teams want to trade these players for each other they compare their player's base year amount to the other player's full salary. So each team can take back a maximum of 125% plus $100,000 of their player's $5 million base year amount, or $6.35 million. They compare $6.35 million to the other player's full $10 million. $10 million is way too high, so this trade can't be done, even though the players' actual salaries match exactly. If one of the teams in the above example was below the cap, the trade still couldn't be done. For the team under the cap, their player would not be BYC, so they would be comparing $10 million to $10 million. But since the other team is over the cap, their player is BYC, and they'd still be comparing $5.85 million to $10 million, which prevents the trade from working. (See question number 75 for more information about trading BYC players.) For Larry Bird or Early Bird players, the player's BYC begins on the date he signs his contract. For extended rookie scale contracts, the player's BYC begins on the day after the July Moratorium which precedes the first season of the extension. For example, if an extension of a rookie scale contract is signed on 10/30/05, his BYC begins on 7/12/06, because the first season of the extension is 2006-07. A player's BYC goes away if the team falls below the salary cap, the player signs with a different team, or the player is traded. If a team trades an extended rookie between the date his extension is signed and the date it takes effect, his "trade value" for the receiving team is the average of the salaries in the last year of the scale contract and each year of the extension. This is called the "poison pill provision." The sending team uses the player's actual salary when calculating their outgoing salary. They use the current-year maximum salary in place of the (unknown) maximum salary for a future season, if necessary. Here is an example of a poison pill calculation: Carmelo Anthony earns $4,694,041 in 2006-07, the final year of his rookie scale contract. Prior to October 31, 2006 he signed a five year extension (bringing the total seasons to six) for the maximum salary, with the maximum 10.5% raises. Anthony's actual salary will not be determined until July 2007, when the maximum salary amounts for 2007-08 are set. During the 2006-07 season the 2006-07 maximum is assumed for the 2007-08 season ($13,762,775), and the salary in subsequent seasons is based on this amount ($15,070,550, $16,378,325 and $17,686,100, respectively). If Anthony is traded during the 2006-07 season, then his outgoing salary from the Nuggets' perspective is his actual salary of $4,694,041. His incoming salary from the other team's perspective would be $13,518,358 -- the average of his 2006-07 salary and the assumed salaries in the extension. Smoove's BYC value on a resigned Contract at 12 million would be about 7 Million. To make your deal work, you're roughly talking Aldridge and Jack for Smoove... Because PTL is well over the salary cap, there is no way that they can do the deal. They are sitting at 77 million right now. They can take on the extra money to make the Smoove deal happen. Oh ok I didnt realize that
  16. This would be a great stragedy and transaction to get our big men and our shooter, which is what everyone knows we need (2 bigs and 1 shooter). So this is how it works: 1.We sign back both Joshes (keep in mind we are over the luxury tax after signing j.smoove) 2.Then we do a Sign and trade with Josh smith/Zaza for Lamarcus/Lafrentz EXPLANATION: Smith will probably sign a 12m contract the way things are going and Zaza has a 4m contract. With that being said lafrentz has a 12m contract and lamarcus has a 4m contract. In all that equals 16m for both sides so no one is losing money or cap space. So this trade is very possible.(Smith/zaza for aldrige/lafrentz) 3. Since the joshes are signed already, we can now use our mle and that can be used on james jones. So now we have aldrige and lafrentz our two bigs and our 3pt/shooter off the bench to give jj some rest. An we keep childress. HERES OUR NEW LINEUP: starters: PG-bibby SG-johnson SF-williams PF-horford C-Aldrige bench: PG-law SG-j.jones SF-childress PF-s. jones C-lafrentz
  17. Quote: Oh. OK. Well, what you're talking about would require us SNT Smoove for ALdridge and Lafrentz for instance. There's one other thing that's a problem here. Once we sign Smoove, he becomes BYC. Because we're paying him way more than he was making before, we get penalized in what we can take back in trade for him. Even on a SNT. So if we SNT Smoove, we can only take back 1/2 of his salary. Aldridge would fit in that (I think) however, the question is can PTL take 11.5 Million for 6 million. They would have to be 5.5 Million under the cap. It might be doable.. but we have to wait til July 9th to see! Thats well explained about time someone got what i was talking about. That is a good idea i would like to actually see this happen, which is a surprise from me considering how much i like j. smoove.
  18. Quote: Quote: Quote: How do you propose that we get LA??? hell we most likely wont but it wouldnt hurt to try if we did have to trade smoove. LA isnt a bad player to try to trade for. Who are we going to trade to get him??? all im trying to say is that if a certain situation comes up and asg decides to trade smith we should go after aldrige. Though i understand that they may like their frontcourt but they also may like a outlaw, smith, oden frontcourt as well. I know it sounds to u that this will probably not happen but it could. (Smith for aldrige)

  20. Quote: Quote: Hopefully J. Smoove stays but if he doesnt we should immediately trade for Lamarcus Aldrige he would be a great pickup. Also if smith is offered something we dont want to match dont we have the right to sign and trade him during the 7 days we have to match his contract? this would be our lineup: pg-bibby sg-johnson sf-williams pf-horford c-lamarcus aldrigre This sounds great to me if smith doesnt get resigned. ATL holla at cha boy and tell me whatcha think? If smith doesn't sign a contract with the hawks then who are we trade to get Aldridge? not quite understanding what you're asking , but all im saying is that aldrige would be a good trade for smith if asg doesnt want to match an offer for him. Not trying to get rid of j. smoove but aldrige is just a great trade for him and we possibly might win more games next season with aldrige presence on the team.

  22. are we going to stop beating around the bush for the Joshes. Lets get one thing straight we know as hawk fans that we arent going to make the playoffs if we dont sign smith back or even have a chance. Hell I agree with alot of you on this message board SMITH should be paid at what his skill level is right now but I dont want to see this team not make the playoffs for another season, we might have a losing record again next season but once were in the playoffs records mean nothing(lets keep that in mind). As for childress we also need him back cause its not like we have a good bench and jj doenst get any rest as it is, childress is so far the best backup for jj and marvin atleast until jeremy richardson gets more of a chance( i personally think he will be preety good once he starts playing more) In the end we need smith and childress. I know smith is asking for a big contract I dont agree of giving him alot of money either just like many of you but I also dont agree of losing him for nothing so asg cough up the money for the joshes and make your city proud. Were sick of not getting anywhere we just got started lets not mess up our groove now who knows we might be untouchable this season(Well...........(thinking)...........naw, i was on trip mode on that untouchable [censored] but ATL you get me) Starting lineup pg-bibby sg-johnson sf-williams(really should be on the bench but childress is needed to bring some good energy off the bench plus, I personally just think childress is better) pf-smith(would like him to move to sf but he cant shoot for [censored], i wish he could shoot at a sf level but he's just not a shooter hopefully he can change this, maybe his shot will come this season..........naw but it would be nice) c-horford(Big Al should be playing pf but I personally think he's a pretty good center I mean to say we have him and smith playing out of position is pretty crazy these two did great and didnt give up so if they had to do it again which is most likely i think it will be ok plus look for horford to score a bit more this upcoming season that will help alot Bench lineop pg- acie law ( I careless what anyone say I think acie got some potiental to be good, he'll come through for us i know he will) sg-jeremy richardson (we say we need a shooter well here he is, rich has a pretty good shot all we need now is to get ol woody boy to play him and give him a chance. oh and by the way we still need to get a shooter just in case he doesnt work out) sf-childress(good enugh to start over willams but need him as a 6th man) pf-solomon jones(hasnt really got a chance, could be good but we will never know unless woody plays him) c-zaza(ok but not ok still need a better backup c than this man atleast kwame brown or someone) Joshes=playoffs next season or atleast good hope no joshes= another 8 years of hell!!!!! (maybe not 8 but atleast 2)
