  1. I am not a fan of PER neither but any advanced stats you check Hawks players are on a similar ranking. The conclusions I get after reviewing any of this stats.

John is top 10 on PF and Young is top 10, I guess no surprise for anyone and everyone think they will inprove.

We valued Dedmon a lot but Len was better last year, no matter the adv stat you look....and Jones is not far from Dedmon... health might be the issue. All of them are not on top 30 C, we lack a starter.

On the wings although some people seem to be happy with some of our players, reality is all of them are outside top 30, we really need a starter here. We see Huerter as our future starter at SG but he is at the bottom of the rankings, can he improve this year? I hope so, he made some highlights but his efficiency and defense are poor. Baze and Prince production can be easily replaced, Crabbe provides the same and I think is a better fit.

Parker is a great improvement over Spellman and Turner might be no so bad.

Most of us thinking who should start, Hunter or Reddish? Well perhaps the best option is both and Kevin from the bench. The real issue here, are they going to be as good as the hype we are predicting?

Overall although I like our young players and core sometimes is good to check this rankings to really see things in perspective, we might be good on 3-4 years but I think we are far from playoffs although I expect an improvement this season, 35 wins might be a good prediction. All depends on what is the performance for Hunter and Reddish.

  2. To put things on perspective

Collins is 6th player on PF on PER

Young is 18th player on PG

Len is 38th on C but with a respectable PER, I see him postin 19 this season aa on Phoenix. Mitchell Robinson is 14th and Khem Birch 22nd

We fail to qualify any player at SG and SF on top 30

  3. Best players on PER last year were

Collins, Young and Len, all above 15 that can be considered league average. That is the best lineup you can make, clearly there is a hole at the wings.

We lost Lin with an average PER of 16, Dedmon(15), Prince (12), Baze (12), Spellman (11).

Replaced by Parker (15,5), Damian Jones(15), Turner(12), Crabbe (12 av). Additionally we added  Hunter, Reddish and Fernando.

I would say we are even here, perhaps losing aome ground if Jones struggle to stay healthy and cannot replace Dedmon production.

Surprised to see Huerter only had a PER of 10, combined with his bad defense he might be the one losing ground to Reddish if he really steps up.

How is this year different than last year? Not only did we have only 1 real point guard down the stretch last season but he was a rookie real point guard

We had Lin right? Another thing is that when everything was done and we wanted to lose we traded him, but we had a legit backup PG

  5. I don't disagree with the ranking. NO and Dallas are ahead of us because Doncic and Zion are seen as a more sure thing to become a superstar than Young. Sixers and Nuggets are the greatest young squads on the league now and I agree that if Denver hits with one of Bol and Porter Jr that would be a steal to win a ring. I would have loved Hawks to spend a 2nd round on Bol instead of selling it.

He was 26 last year and is coming off his 4th season.  I’m not that worried about his age on a 2 year deal averaging $5M or less per year.

I am not worried about his age, I just see he has no room for improvement, I would prefer to sign a young with potential, you have the chance to find a gem. If I am contending I definately sign McConnell but we are not there yet.

The Hawks need a backup PG to round out the bench. If Damian Jones pans out, our bench could be really good. Parker is going to be a really good addition and fits what we want to do offensively. I would like to see him improve as a spot up shooter and trend towards being an average defender. I see a real team coming together. I think we have a logjam at SG/SF and will likely deal a few of those guys.

We don't have such a logjam at wings, current roster

    Young/Turner

    Huerter/Crabbe/Bembry

    Hunter/Reddish/

    Collins/Parker/Parsons

    Len/Jones/Fernando

We have 13 players signed but I don't think Parsons event count. Bembry can cover backup SF too, Turner as well so the real holes are backup PG and a big. I know Hawks want just 14 players but considering Fernando will start on G league and some players on this roster are injury prone as Crabbe, Parker, Parsons, Len, Damian Jones I could see Hawks signing 15 players with a big filling the injury holes of Len, Parker and Damian Jones. Christian Wood would be perfect and a real backup PG as Harrison or Mason.

McConnell would have been a good add at that price except that where else do you play Turner given the depth at wing?  Turner gets benched in the playoffs because he destroys his team’s spacing and offense so I’m pretty sure Portland would have happily played McConnell over him when the games counted most last year.

McConnell is someon you augn when you are trying to compete, when you are rebuilding you go young or a veteran star to lead the young fellas

  9. I don't understand all this locker room presence, can understand with Vince, but Livingston? What can he teach? Can he really play? Turner at PG is an experiment and we need a real backup PG. There are still some good options there as Shaquille Harrison or Frank Mason or other young guys that have outplayed clearly Adams at SL as Mitrou Long or PJ Dozier. I would prefer any of these guys than Livingston.

Also think that we need some help at C. You want a locker room presence, sign Gasol or Noah, anyway I would prefer to go youth and sign someone aa Christian Wood.

Unless you can sign a real veteran star that can be a real example for young guys and still have something left on the tank as Carter or Gasol I would go with young guys with potential aa Harrison, Frank Mason or Wood

  10. Another disapointing game from Bruno, defensive stats are encouraging,4 stks, 3 blocks but lack of rebounding, bad shooting, lack of involvement on offense is very concerning. Gafford with another big game, Kabengele too, Robert and Grant Williams... I hope Bruno can at least find his rebounding soon, at least he was able to control his foula today...

He is really far from contributing, Spellman did better last year on SL.... Assuming Len and Damian Jones are going to miss a significant amount of games we really need to sign another Center or we most likely will be in trouble this season.

Actually, I think the thought process is:

    Len (now) = Dedmon

    Bruno (future) > Len

    Jones > Plumlee

    Parker > Spellman

    Crabbe > Baze

    Turner = Lin

    Hunter (future) > Prince

This is more like this for this season

    Damian Jones < Demon

    Len = Len

    Bruno > Plumlee

    Parker > Spellman

    Hunter = Prince (Hopefully)

    Crabbe > Baze

    Reddish > Anderson

Turner <= Lin (I doubt here)

  12. So after all the moves I think this could be the rotation if everybody is healthy that is a big IF

    Trae (35)/Turner (8)/Reddish(5)/Adams

    Huerter(30)/Crabbe(12)/Reddish(6)/Charlie Brown

    Hunter(30)/Reddish(18)/Bembry

    Collins(25)/Parker(23)/Parsons

    Len(25)/Collins(10)/Jones(8)/Bruno(5)

I think Parker's addition is going to limit Bruno's minutes but I also expect Len and Jones to be injured often so should be minutes for him and whoever we add at Center if we finnally add someone.

I also think that might be hard to find minutes for Bembry, which is sad for me because I like the player, I think at  the end he will play some due  to injuries and the fact that Turner might struggle a bit as backup PG on the 2nd unit...Anyway I think Bembry might be a candidate for a trade at trade deadline.

Assuming they are healthy i think hawks fans will realize that Crabbe is an upgrade over Prince (in this system), and Turner is an upgrade over Baze.   I love Baze and Prince but they were built for a Bud type system.

Parsons and Parker i have no expectations but i think they'll provide some production off the bench at times.

I also think Crabbe is an upgrade over Baze, not sure about Prince but definately over Baze. 2nd unit will have 2 capable scorers in Crabbe and Parker. The only problem I see us lack of shooting and spacing if we have Turner, Damian Jones and Parker on the floor at the same time. Is also looking that Bembry's role might be limited  as I do not see him sharing the floor with Jones and Turner. Or perhaps no and they leave him wide open, don't think so....

Crabbe is not a better defender than Baze. Crabbe last year just was in a better system and personnel grouping.

I think our bench could be one of the best in the NBA. We got Parker and Hunter. Both can be top end 6th man as soon as next year. Parker been needing to move to the 6th man role like Jamal Crawford did when he was traded to the Hawks from Golden State. Hunter fits with every pairing and can be sensational off the bench in a highly versatile role.

You think Hunter will come of thw bench and Cam will be starting? I would be surprised to see that, I think Hunter will be starting

  15. hace 19 minutos, NBASupes dijo:

The difference between last years bench and this year is clearly talent and fit. Last year had better fit. Baze could play with anybody as could Lin. Len fit most personnel groupings and Bembry fit our personnel last year. This year, I see some issues, not expecting Bembry and Turner to fit on offense like how Baze and him struggled together on that end. Parker should be a fit with Hunter and Cam but I can see Cam and Parker not being an ideal fit. Hunter fits everybody. Crabbe fits offensively with all groups but with Trae and John, he might be a bad fit.

I worry about the Parsons and Crabbe defensive fit. I worry about Jones and Turner as well. Not as many fits as last year with the bench unit.

I do see a lot more talent. Parsons is better than your average 12th man by a gap. Parker can be an excellent 6th man. Hunter has Iggy off the bench potential although I am not as high on Cam off the bench and think he is just a much better fit with Trae, Kev and John them. Crabbe as a 10th man is good. Jones will be a 8th man and Turner will be the 9th man. Talent wise, we completely upgraded significantly to the point Bembry is spliting 10th man mins with Crabbe. That's pretty good depth now which we lacked last season.

I think we might be underating Crabbe as a defender, he ranked higher than Baze l
