Can we stop including draft picks in depth charts. There is no telling where we pick, who we pick, or who even becomes a good pro.
I already said Edwards or Wiseman would be a dream scenario with a most likely scenario of McDaniels, Obi, Carney Jr or Stewart. Why we should not include it? We are going to have a top 5 pick anyway and that player is going to play a ton, why we should not consider it?

You are so much higher on Drummond than I am. I don't see him as a good fit. I don't like Edwards fit with Young either but BPA so it's a no brainer if he is available.
I don't see it with Drummond. So many centers I rather considering what we need around Trae defensively. Baynes would cost us half the price and give us twice the value of Drummond
I see what you are saying about Baynes but he is 33 year old, next year he will be 34, what is the contract he will look for? He is only an option for 1-2 years, after that you should look for a Center with all your money tied for Young, Collins, Huerter, Hunter.... no good for me
I think we should look for a younger center, a real top center for 4-5 years, that is Drummond, he is a top 5 center, all defensive team for consecutive years, rebound and block league leader, can play pick and roll, will be much improved with a real PG, is a no brainer for me. Noel, Baynes, Ibaka are also good options and fit. I would prefer Noel if Drummond is gone. Even Whiteside and Thompson might be an option although I prefer Noel or Ibaka.

Young/Napier/Hampton
Edwards/Harris/Huerter
Hunter/Reddish/Bertans
Collins/Bertans/Wood
Drummond/Ibaka/Fernando

I understand the frustration but let’s see the situation with some perspective.
Let’s start with a fact, this is a lost season, year 2 of rebuild program, no team can compete on year 2. Is hard to accept as everybody had high hopes but is what it is, we are not ready.
We are playing significant minutes our young players, we are losing but we will improve through the season, we will be top 5 worst record, that guarantees a chance for Anthony Edwards or Wiseman and next year all our vets contracts will be gone.
Next season we will have a young core of Young, Huerter, Reddish, Hunter and Collins + 2 picks and tons of cap space. All of them are NBA players. We will have a fantastic opportunity to round the team and compete then.
We have clear needs, bigs that can defend the paint and rebound, a backup PG, a 2nd or 3rd scorer (depends if you consider Collins a reliable 2nd option or not) and also some shooting.
Best case scenario for me would be a draft that gets us Anthony Edwards and Kilian Hayes or Hampton and we sign Drummond, Christian Wood or Ibaka, Bertans, Joe Harris and Napier or Mudiay. But we could also consider a best case scenario adding Wiseman and instead of Drummond add Noel so that Wiseman evolution is not compromised by Drummond minutes while still keeping good defense and rebounding with Noel.
Most likely scenario is that we end with another prospect like Jaden McDaniels, Stewart, Carney Jr or Oby Topin, still go with a backup PG with the other pick, Hayes, Hampton, Maledon.... and round the team with 2-3 bigs like Baynes, Noel, Henson, Wood, a wing in Harris or Crowder and a backup PG.
All these scenarios end with a team with less flaws than today.
in my opinion best fits for Haws in FA next year are Drummond, Noel, Ibaka, Bertans, Wood, Marcus Morris, Harris, Korkmaz, Burke, Crowder, Napier and Mudiay.

How about
Trae,Bogdonavic,(RFA)Hunter,Collins,Noel(UFA)
Augustine(UFA),Huerter,Cam,Obi Toppin(Nets pick)/Wiseman(our pick)
Actually I was considering Joe Harris and Andre Drummond bit Noel and Bogdanovic would work too

I agree, I would give opportunities to young players, we are losing anyway, Goodwin, Hunter, Reddish, Fernando...

If we can go back in time and redo old drafts like taking Robinson over Spellman then let me prepare my full Hawks 20/20 hindsight redo. It is going to be a looooooooooooooong list.
And for this year's draft, I'm not sold on Hayes / NAW over Hunter. NAW is shooting 33% from the floor and has fallen off a cliff after his hot start. I'm not a believer he will be good. On Hayes, I'd rather have a good wing than a limited big man. If you'll notice, Hayes has been like Damian Jones' twin as far as the numbers this season. Neither can rebound. Both rim run very effectively.

I am not going to go back and see which was the best player, Robinson was too obvious.

Robinson isn't a rookie and I'd say the rest of those guys aren't making much of a case that you can win with a ton of rookies. All of the play on pretty terrible teams. Also there is an opportunity cost issue at play here as well - you got Hunter instead of Hayes and NAW. You can't do all 3. So I agree with you that it would be nice to add more top talent but it isn't like we were walking away from this draft with Hunter, Hayes, Reddish, NAW, Clarke, etc. The only picks we ditched were the second rounders and I would have preferred us to keep or more of the ones we sold but you don't get Graham, Hayes, etc. with those picks.
2018 draft you keep Graham and draft Robinson instead of Spellman as most wanted. This year we do not make a trade for 4th
Young/Graham
Huerter/NAW
Reddish/FA/Crabbe
Collins/Parker
Robinson/ Hayes/ Len
that is a much better and balanced team in my opinion
-
I remember draft time when everybody was saying we could not add so many rookies....
So now how people feel about that? What if we would have Hayes, Reddish and NAW or Clarke? Don't you think we would look better? What if we would have Devonte Graham and Mitchell Robinson? Would you really play Damion Jones, Turner, Len , Crabbe, Bembry... Ahead of this guys???? Really?
There is nothing wtong adding rookies if talent is there.

Is difficult to not agree with the statement, they have look awful. Although might be true they are showing flashes overall performance is poor.

In my opinion any move we make now is a step on the wrong direction. Adams or even Capela are worst than Drummond and we would have to give assets for them. I think we need another 2 good picks to round the talent level on the team, there would be great PGs at 15-20 with BKN pick and we should take best player available with our own pick, hopefully is Edwards or Wiseman but most likely could be Carney Jr, Stewart or Advija. A big and a PG, then go to FA to round the team, draft a starting C a backup PF and perhaps a wing and a backup PG
Trae/Napier/Hampton
Huerter/Joe Harris/Reddish
Hunter/Reddish/ Bembry
Collins/Bertans/Wood
Drummond/Fernando/Carney Jr

A off night for Trae, 42.1% FG and 30.8 from three but still had 27 points, 9 assist, and only 2 turnovers. This was a team win all the way around. I have to wonder if the Hawks can stick within 5 or 6 games of the 8th seed when Collins gets back if they will chase Steven Adams with a pick and one of their large expiring contracts.
He improved his numbers on the final minutes of the 4th with 3 baskets, his game was even worse than that, he will have better nights for sure but he needs to share the ball faster.
The good thing, some players came to play today, Jones, Len, Carter, Crabbe and Huerter, good win

That was really a bad 3 pt shot from Trae, now a good floater

9 assists?
Ball is really moving when he is not on the floor, you can see now
-
Trae, when you are 4-12 on 3s and your team is winning is time to share the damn ball with your team mates, move the damn ball, be the PG

-
I am liking Jones game today, Crabbe with another steal

-
Good game by Crabbe too
- 2
-
Len out, Jones and Young in. Carter on a clinic
- 2
-
Huerter is +12 on the game, Hawks leading due to Huerter good play and Len and Carter efficient games
- 1
-
Huerter has been one of the best players on the game, how can he have only 5 shots and Trae 12? We need to find more all the players.
Trae out and two 3s
-
Trae should stop shooting if his shot is off, move the ball and try to find open guys, Hornets are playing good defense and our offense has been too easy to defend. Defense is keeping us on the game, offense is horrible. Trae takes the ball to find the final assist, shot is much much easier the few times the 5 players touch the. All you have to do is share the ball with confidence with your mates.

-
So after the first half, Trae is playing poorly, bad shot selection, a good amount of TO... the team has no offensive scheme, we are in the game due to Vince, Crabbe and Bembry. Jones is not playing bad, altering some shots, Bruno was playing well, why he is not playing more? Hunter and Reddish today.... nothing, wake up young fellas. And finally Huerter, team is playing well with him as Backup PG, I like it.

Well, I think the strategy was fine while we were piling assets. Next year with a core of Young, Huerter, Reddish, Hunter, Collins, Fernando and 2 good picks we should have enough assets to go to FA, sign 3-4 players and make first run to the playoffs.
We need bigs and there are bigs on FA, a star on Drummond and good role players on Noel, Ibaka, Baynes, Tristan Thompson, O'Quinn, Favors, Giles, Whitesize, Wood, Morris, Mason Plumlee, Bertans, Henson, Parker.... Other FA could use Jae Crowder, Derrick Jones, Harkless, Tyler Johnson , Kormaz, Joe Harris, Jordan clarkson, Teague, Napier, Frazier...
No reason to overpay really but there are enough players to fill the needa we have and rouns the team to compete

-
Next year a wise option would be to go after Drummond or upgrade your weak positions with good FA and draft.
If we cannot get Drummond we should get Baynes or Noel, we really need a center, we should also try to get Wood, Bertans and a backup PG.
Once you have upgraded your team to be on a winning position on 2020 by two additions on FA and 2 additions on draft, go to 2021 FA class and become the main player, young team on playoff with 2 upcoming stars loking for the final piece to become a contender.

I would add Stewart to that group. Unless we get 1st pick or 2nd and we have a shot at Edwards I would go big with our pick and a backup PG with BKN pick.
at FA we have some legit options at C, we can add a star on Drummond or add a FA like Baynes, Noel, Ibaka, Henson, Thompson, Favors.
Next year we would be still too young, if we want to compete rest of the roster should be a combination of quality players and vets. Something like Teague or Napier, Joe Harris or Korkmaz, Crowder or Bertans, Christian Wood and Noel would make wonders for the team.
