  1. When you're naturally fat, it's very hard to stay slim. You lose it, but it eventually comes back. But I think it would be great if a fat player became a star, that would truly be breaking boundaries.
  2. Yea, then a formal apology that was probably not written by him was sent out.
  3. Are you referencing the Ja Morant thing as well (wink wink)?
  4. For sure, if it were kids there would be a panic. When it's old people, everyone is just kinda .
  5. Do they think that without basketball they will remain relevant? Maybe for a little while, but sooner or later your star fades. I don't see how they have a louder voice without basketball. The train is leaving the station whether you get aboard or not. If FVV wants to follow Kyrie into that good night of "I dont need the NBA", then go right ahead.
  6. In his defense, the Turner trade was a favor to Baze. Jones trade was basically a wash. I think he knows now that bringing in salary dumps does put team chemistry at risk.
  7. Send the Hawks in place of the Nets. Hasn't their entire team checked out? Jeez. What a bunch of whinny, wussy man-babies. At least Trae and the gang want to ball.

  9. First of all, permanent lung damage from Covid is not common in young healthy people. Secondly, the "bubble" is one the safer places Trae could be. Every person there is tested for Covid-19. Certainly much safer than pick up games or protests, which he has recently been participating in. Your reasoning doesn't hold water.
  10. Most of the players probably want to play, but everything is a leverage play.
  11. Of course, Michelle Roberts is against it. Surprise surprise.
  12. Silver is so politically correct. He would never utter such truths. Fact: You're probably more likely to get Covid-19 shopping at Whole Foods/Walmart/Target than you are in the bubble. Fact: The odds of a young healthy athlete becoming seriously ill from Covid-19 are extremely low. The odds of a young healthy athlete dying of Covid-19 are infinitesimally low.
  13. Not trying to go down this rabbit hole. But politicizing masks is not helpful, be it the notion that requesting one to wear a mask is an "affront to liberty", or conversely, characterizing those who aren't wearing masks as "killers." Honestly, the most important thing in preventing Covid deaths is identifying and isolating vulnerable groups, namely the elderly. Nearly half of all Covid deaths are from nursing homes and long term care facilities.
  14. My suspicion is once they get into the conference finals and finals, they will stop testing the stars (LBJ, Giannis, Kawhi, etc), so as no to risk a positive test screwing up the series. That wont be made known to the media of course.
  15. Dexamethasone has been very helpful in Europe for preventing serious lung damage. Covid-19 can cause a cytokine storm in some, which leads to the immune system attacking the lungs due to an out of control inflammatory response.
  16. All things considered, the NBA should be relieved by that number. Could have easily been 15 to 20%
  17. I think we are talking about two different things. I am talking about the science of viral exposure. Some might not be aware that how much of the virus you are exposed to makes an enormous difference. I am not weighing in on policy or mask wearing per se. Here's an article that explains it better. https://www.nytimes.com/2020/05/29/health/coronavirus-transmission-dose.html
  18. It is true that in virology, the amount of the virus you are exposed to makes a big difference. It's like a poison, the more you take, the more likely you'll get sick. It's not an either/or type thing.
  19. Like most things, if businesses and their patrons are honest and acting in good faith, there shouldn't be any problem. But you will inevitably have bad apples on both sides occasionally.
  20. If your argument is test availability, then fine. But you originally made the economic argument, and Amazon or Walmart could certainly afford to spends hundreds of millions on testing if they choose to.
  21. Here's a summary of the answers about why Sports leagues need more precautions and testing then any other business or health care entity. 1. Because they make a lot of money, 2. The league has the money to do it. Um, ok. Go find an epidemiologist, and ask him which economic sector needs the most precautions and testing. His answer might be... "nursing home employees", or "hospital employees," but it sure as heck won't be "sports leagues."
  22. Nice strawman. Did I say it was a hoax? I said they should use temp checks and wellness checks, like many other businesses are doing. But what they are doing with mass testing of asymptomatic people is most certainly above and beyond other businesses. I'm not disputing their right to do it, but NBA players in a bubble getting more Covid tests than doctors and nurses on the front lines is overkill.
  23. You couldn't answer my question, so you went to the ad hominem. Shocked. I will ask you again. Why do professional athletes need Covid-19 testing and precautions above and beyond that of every other business, including health care workers?
  24. The world's guinea pigs? Again, how are they at greater risk than anybody else? They aren't. I'm not the one demanding they go into a 3 month quarantine. The motivation behind these stringent measures is PR first and foremost.
  25. Who said I was angry? My point is that the onerous burden being placed on sports leagues in terms of Covid-19 testing and precautions, compared to every other sector and business, is ridiculous and irrational. There is no argument for sports leagues to need testing and isolation measures far above and beyond other sectors, including health care.
