  1. He goes 100 miles per hour all the time. You can do that when you're young.
  2. What do you think Vegas will have as the Hawks odds to get Giannis? 500 to 1? 1000 to 1?
  3. Tell me how taking a flyer on Bol Bol isn't worth it the risk in the 2nd round? Second round is the land of stash and dash internationals, half of whom never see an NBA court, or the mediocre college combo guard that adds no value to the team.
  4. What a steal to get him in the 2nd. Good job Denver.
  5. Just did 5 tankathons. Got #7, #7, #7, #6, #6. Ugh.
  6. There will be conspiracy theorists claiming the NBA is lying about test results, or using tests designed to give a negative result, or some other such unfounded claim.
  7. Question. Are viruses life forms? Yea or nay?
  8. I'm all for bailing out the working class. Even hard core fiscal conservatives aren't making the deficit argument, that ship has sailed. So yes, even though children appear to not be affected, long term problems are still unknown. That's a fair point. But we wont know that for a long time. So what's our end game here? Are we looking at another year, even years without school? I'm not sure that's tenable.
  9. Maybe I misinterpreted your post. I'm speaking about outcomes. Saying no one is safe from Covid-19, while perhaps technically true, it should always be noted the enormous difference in outcomes based on age. By enormous, I mean a Grand Canyon sized chasm, the distance from here to Alpha Centauri, any other metaphor of your choosing.
  10. Yes it's very contagious. There is a school of thought out there to allow the virus to infect everyone, in hopes of establishing herd immunity. I don't agree with that approach, but it could be argued shelter in place orders, social distancing, etc. while mitigating the pandemic, are also prolonging it.
  11. It term of outcomes, yes it does care very much whether you are an older person or a child. Why are you saying something that is demonstrably and empirically false? Age is the single most reliable statistical predictor of outcomes. With children and the elderly having a difference in risk that is orders of magnitude apart. Even in the article you are referencing, Whitworth and the children are fine. It was his older father-in-law that was hospitalized with Covid-19.
  12. If you are erring the side of caution, then close the schools. If you are worried about kids giving Covid-19 to their grandma or their elderly teacher then close the schools. But if the question is are children getting sick in numbers to be a concern for a public safety, the answer is no. Hospitalizations and deaths among children are astonishingly low. Canceling schools for a pandemic that is not affecting children is tough pill to swallow for me. It's really hard on working class families especially, but it is what it is I guess.
  13. So you're against opening schools? A number of respected minds think opening schools is the right call. Among them chief of neurology at Stanford University Dr. Scott Atlas. “That’s just completely wrong, and contrary to all the science,” Atlas, now a senior fellow at the Hoover Institution, told The Story host Martha MacCallum. “I’m not sure how many times it has to be said, but the risk to children from this disease and the fatality is nearly zero,” Atlas explained. “The risk of children for a significant illness is far less from the seasonal flu … This is totally antithetical to the data.” “Obviously, we know this by now, it’s been confirmed all over the world, children rarely transmit the disease to adults,” he continued. “But those are people that obviously either don’t know that data or are refractory to learning it themselves because the facts say otherwise.”
  14. Why is it so hard to get reliable Covid-19 data? https://www.fox35orlando.com/news/fox-35-investigates-questions-raised-after-fatal-motorcycle-crash-listed-as-covid-19-death
  15. Ok, what if things don't better? What if a viable vaccine doesn't emerge? So no school in 2021 as well? I just feel like as some point life has to go on.
  16. I am in favor of opening schools. Data regarding children is quite encouraging. Hospitalizations are very rare, fatalities extremely rare. However, concessions and exemptions for older teachers is prudent and warranted.
  17. Some will discount, and some have said it might be one of the most special. It'll be memorable for its uniqueness no matter what.
  18. It's different for sure, but in my opinion still legitimate. Come on, only a handful of players are missing, and non of them stars. If star players get quarantined, lll concede, but that hasn't happened. I'm kinda intrigued by who is up for the challenge of competing in an unusual setting, in unusual circumstances, there's something to be said for rising to the occasion when the chips are down.
  19. As long as the stars are not quarantined, it is completely legit. In fact, with no home court advantage for anyone, it'll be pure basketball.
  20. They are inside a "bubble." Florida residents are not coming to and fro. Everyone is being tested, and workers that leave the bubble aren't anywhere near the players (custodians, maintenance, etc).
  21. So far only a couple of players have broken the rules, and they were just role players, then placed in quarantine. No post-bubble Covid-19 positives have been reported either. So looks like things are working well. Cases in Florida should have no impact, that was the whole point of the bubble.
  22. Florida needs to be careful with their huge elderly population in South Florida. In Florida's defense, although they have been somewhat lazissez-faire overall, they have been very cautious with their nursing homes and long term care facilities.
  23. The most important to keep an on are hospitalizations, which are up a bit, but it's fair to point out that the lions share of the recent positives are younger people, many of whom are asymptomatic. Hospitalizations and fatalities are still the metrics to watch, moreso than positive cases.
  24. Ball dominant guys aren't good at playing off the ball. And with those two (Trae and Lamelo) one would have to play off the ball. Steph Curry is the rare exception of the ball dominant college player who became great at moving without the basketball in the pros. Trae either can't or won't do that, so it's not a good fit.
