  1. Anyone heard anything new on local radio or TV about Joe's status for tonight??
  2. Shelden's twin brother once appeared on the Simpsons.
  3. Diesel's been responsible for some doozies, as we all know, but this takes the cake. Yeah, Diesel, those people will "get over it" and stop "whining" just as soon as you stop whining about Marvin. Still waiting .....
  4. I can honestly say that after her first post about interviewing Al, I instantly knew that she was full of sh*t. It was pretty obvious.
  5. I tried to send you a PM but I'm not sure if it went through. Did you get it?? Contact me at kelston1976@aol.com with info. Thanks
  6. potential only means you haven't proven anything. give me bosh One of the more ignorant posts I've read on this forum. You do realize that at age 20 Howard is averaging 15 points, 13 boards, 2 blocks and 2 assists a game?? Tell me, how many just-turned-20-year-olds in the NBA average a double-double?? I'll tell you. One. Bosh is good, there's no doubt. But if Howard hasn't proven anything then neither has Bosh.
  7. Felton/May over Marvin?? No thanks. An unwillingness to gamble on greatness in the draft is a sure way to cement your team in perpetual mediocrity. As someone said (KB maybe) in another thread, the young nucleus BK has built in Atlanta can compare favorably to any in the league. "Because the truth is that FAcy is yielding us nothing" Funny, I wasn't aware FA has started yet. Oh, you must be refering to the mindless blather and rumors coming from media outlets desperate for somethingt NBA-related to write about. Oh yeah, even then the Hawks have been mentioned by nearly every corner of the country as a team offering a max deal to a talented, young guard in JJ. "Chris Paul and Deron are looking better and better day by day..." Where does a statement like that even come from?? Have you watched them play at all?? What happened to summer league doesn't mean anything?? To say that the sky is falling because "Chris Paul and Deron are looking better and better day by day..." at this point is the height of ridiculousness.
  8. I wouldn't trade for Marbury under any circumstances. He's perhaps the best example of a talented player who makes his team worse, not better. Marbury has never been and will never be a team-first player, and because of that his addition would be to the detriment to the team and our young players. One of the most important parts of this rebuilding project is to bring in a vet or two who the Joshs and Marvin can learn from, a player who plays the game the right way and works hard at making himself and his teammates better. I can't think of a player who least meets that criteria than Stephon Marbury.
  9. Just realized I left Hakim Warrick out. I have him goign 18th to Boston, Vazquez going 26th to Detroit, Gomes going 28th to San Antonio and Blatche out of round 1.
  10. I'm doing a mock first round draft for the newspaper I work for. I respect a lot of the HawkSquawkers' knowledge of the game and draft, so I'd like some of the in-house experts to give their critique of my mock. Thanks in advance. First round mock draft 1. Milwaukee -- Andrew Bogut 2. Atlanta -- Marvin Williams 3. Portland -- Martell Webster 4. New Orleans -- Deron Williams 5. Charlotte -- Chris Paul 6. Utah -- Raymond Felton 7. Toronto -- Danny Granger 8. New York -- Channing Frye 9. Golden State -- Charlie Villanueva 10. Los Angeles Lakers -- Gerald Green 11. Orlando -- Joey Graham 12. Los Angeles Clippers -- Yaroslav Korolev 13. Charlotte (from Cleveland through Phoenix) -- Antoine Wright 14. Minnesota -- Roko-Leni Ukic 15. New Jersey -- Sean May 16. Toronto (from Philadelphia through Denver and New Jersey) -- Andrew Bynum 17. Indiana -- Francisco Garcia 18. Boston -- Fran Vazquez 19. Memphis -- Johan Petro 20. Denver (from Washington through Orlando) -- Rashad McCants 21. Phoenix (from Chicago) -- Chris Taft 22. Denver -- Martynas Andriuskevicius 23. Sacramento -- Ike Diogu 24. Houston -- Wayne Simien 25. Seattle -- CJ Miles 26. Detroit -- Ryan Gomes 27. Utah (from Dallas) -- Ersan Ilyasova 28. San Antonio -- Andray Blatche 29. Miami -- Jarrett Jack 30. New York (from Phoenix through San Antonio) -- Julius Hodge
  11. OK, the question is: "If the Hawks trade with Charlotte for the 5th and 13th picks, who do you take?" Without considering possible free agent signings or other trade possibilities, who would you want to walk away with from the draft with those two picks. My choices: #5 Deron Williams #13 Charlie Villanueva
  12. I used to be a big Hodge fan until I attended the Sweet 16 and Elite 8 games in Syracuse. Hodge was awful: he couldn't create his own shot, he was at a complete standstill without the ball and just plain looked disinterested a lot of times. However, attending those games did turn me into a big Felton fan. I didn't like him much prior to the trip, but I really got a good look at his ball-handling, offensive leadership and defense getting to see him in person. This kid is an absolute pest on both sides of the ball and I would love it if the Hawks could walk away from this draft with Bogut and Felton.
  13. actually, the Joshs were 7th and 8th...Nenad Krstic was 6th

    Theo...

While the blocks are certainly impressive, Theo's true value can be found in opponents' FG %: .386. He's probably the guy I'd be least likely to trade on the Hawks.
  15. Didn't you know, jjjohns3?? From his ivory tower, it is impossible for Diesel to do anything but look down on everyone. Nothing sadder than an Internet bully.
  16. Can hold a team to 32% shooting and still lose. Get ready for a long season.
  17. Don't these third-quarter woes look familiar??
  18. Only four TOs at the half is what I'm most impressed with. Great effort by SAR and Theo in the first half.
  19. I've always known you to be an egomaniacal, holier-than-thou poster D, but that last one takes the cake. All that hard work and sacrifice has paid off. You've become the most heard voice on the Web site of a marginal professional basketball team. You must be so proud The contributions your posts regarding the Atlanta Hawks have made on society have been limitless.
  20. Actually, ARR, you're the one that will never learn. See, while you may not know this, following sports and having favorite teams is supposed to be fun. Whether your teams are bad or not, the fun of sports is not knowing what'll happen until it happens. That means that every team's fans are thinking playoffs before the start of the year (no matter how unlikely). While the Hawks' chances of making the playoffs are slim, that doesn't mean that the season is over before it even starts. But your constant negativity (I know, I know you're just being "reaslistic") blinds you. I have to ask you this: Why in the world do you even follow the Hawks when you can only muster negative feelings about them?? It's not a healthy outlook -- in sports or life. Now that the season is about to start I'm getting the sense that I'll start visiting the board less and less, just as I did last season. The reason: Because every single thread will contain ARR's "falling sky" post of the day. I honestly think you ruin most every thread you get involved with because of your one-trick pony negativity. And it's a shame because I do know that you are not stupid when it comes basketball. You're just a truly negative person.
  21. I'm at work so I don't have a link for it, but it just moved over the AP wire that the Suns waived DJ.
  22. To expand on this, here's a list of the last 10 #21 picks. 2002 -- Qyntel Woods (hasn't done jack) 2001 -- Joseph Forte (hasn't done jack) 2000 -- Morris Peterson (a solid player, recognized right away as a steal at #21) 1999 -- Jeff Foster (hasn't done jack) 1998 -- Ricky Davis (good scorer, would never want him on my team) 1997 -- Anthony Parker (hasn't done jack) 1996 -- Dontae Jones (hasn't done jack) 1995 -- Michael Finley (one of the best late 1st round steals of the last decade) 1994 -- Dickey Simpkins (hasn't done jack) 1993 -- James Robinson (hasn't done jack) So, out of the last 10 #21 picks we have three guys out of the league, four role players and three solid players. And of the three #21 picks that actually panned out, only Finley and MoPete contributed right away. I would say that it's realistic to think that there's a 20% chance Diaw will contribute (by contribute I guess we use MoPete's rookie #s -- 9 pts and 3 rebs) right away. Which would be right on par with the last decade.
  23. I don't see what the big surprise is. I mean, exactly how many rookies do you think ARE ready to contribute right away?? Not many. What did McGrady do his rookie year?? How about Jermaine O'Neal?? Even top picks need time to develop (Curry, Chandler to name a few). I don't know too many people that expect a great deal from a #21 pick right away. I know I don't.
