Why are we even discussing trading Trae Young?

• Tony Ressler loves seeing T Young jersey sales, ticket sales, and all other financial benefits that come from having Trae Young as a Hawk
• Trae has embraced the city and wants to win here
• Quinn wants the whole team built around him with defense and length

He isn't going anywhere unless he demands out.

We would have a bench who knows exactly how to play like Quin wants to play and we have the starters who can play within Quin's scheme.

We all know what happened.
 

1. The Lakers called about DJM
2. We said Reeves would need to be included at the bare minimum
3. They tried to low-ball us with something and leaked it to the press to try and create leverage
4. We said no thanks and took other calls
5. The media is still trying to push the old leaked info to try and pressure us into taking the Lakers scraps

Can we please move on from discussing this trade now?

Whatever label you want to give DJM, nobody can deny that Austin Reeves is not on that level. Any return package that has Reeves as the centerpiece is a major loss of talent.

Reaves per 36 mins:

18.1 - 6 - 5 - 48% fg% - 55.5efg5, 61% TS - 13 million per year

22 - 5 - 4 - 47% fg$ - 53efg%, 56% TS - 32 million per year.

I'd take Reaves for Murray swap if it frees up 20 million for us to sign a player like Nic Claxton this offseason.

 

 

I see your argument about saving money. I never discuss the cap because it isn't my money being spent. Let's discuss the on-court fit of this trade scenario.

Bringing Reeves here, he presumably takes over for DJM as the #2 or #3? Now that he is permanently a part of the opposing team's game plan, does he still average that 18 ppg on 48%? I'm legit worried about him being able to step in and not have us be worse on the court, let alone improving our win/lose record. 

He's a good player, but I couldn't have him being the centerpiece in return for trading DJM.

I'd rather keep Murray and try to make it work. Nobody would trade us their second star for Hunter and filler—no reason we should do a similar deal.

This is from March 2023. I'm not really plugged in this year, but when I do watch, I don't see any on-court evidence of bad team chemistry. We just aren't good. But the guys seem to like each other.

I was told Atlanta is serious about KAT and if Minnesota wants to move him for less money for Murray and picks. This is basically the rumored deal. This would save MIN a lot of money. 

 

I was told Minnesota doesn't want to trade KAT but will have to trade him due to the financial issues to maintain the current squad. 

 

I was told NY and Minnesota have been in talks for KAT. Even reached out to Atlanta but Atlanta wants KAT even more and see him as a perfect fit next to JJ and Trae. Sorry, JJ, not OO.
