    You Mad?

http://www.olympic.org/sports I'll wager there are a lot more sports no one cares about that sports people do care about. Horses get 3 sports - basketballers only get one. SUMMER Archery Athletics Badminton Basketball Beach Volleyball Boxing Canoe Slalom Canoe Sprint Cycling BMX Cycling Mountain Bike Cycling Road Cycling Track Diving Equestrian / Dressage Equestrian / Eventing Equestrian / Jumping Fencing Football Golf Gymnastics Artistic Gymnastics Rhythmic Handball Hockey Judo Modern Pentathlon Rowing Rugby Sailing Shooting Swimming Synchronized Swimming Table Tennis Taekwondo Tennis Trampoline Triathlon Volleyball Water Polo Weightlifting Wrestling Freestyle Wrestling Greco-Roman WINTER Alpine Skiing Biathlon Bobsleigh Cross Country Skiing Curling Figure skating Freestyle Skiing Ice Hockey Luge Nordic Combined Short Track Speed Skating Skeleton Ski Jumping Snowboard Speed skating

    You Mad?

I'm not mad at all. I don't even think basketball should be an Olympic sport. The Olympics is a showcase for sports nobody cares about except once every four years. But basketball is already a successful sport, the athletes are well known and don't need the Olympics to get on a big stage. A basketball gold medal counts just as much s one swimming event, or one track and field, not to mention all the off beat sports that they have at the games. (Synchronized swimming anyone?, Shooting, Archery??) Micheal Phelps got 7 times as many gold medals as the USA did in basketball.
  3. Something strange going on. "Cortijo alleged that Puerto Rican basketball federation's president Carlos Beltrán denied her an opportunity to play for the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA)'s Atlanta Dream in order for her to participate with the Puerto Rican women's national basketball team on the 2015 Edmonton, Canada Women's Pre-Olympic qualifying tournament.[6] The Atlanta Dream, however, sent a letter denying they had actually spoken to Cortijo about signing her.[7]" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carla_Cortijo I guess the point is that they seem to have an open roster spot so a move might be made. Trade deadline in Aug. 13, so watch the next few days - something may happen. (Or not. But they can't be encouraged by how things are going with this current roster.) This explains it better -translate to English. http://espndeportes.espn.go.com/news/story/_/id/2441708/atlanta-dream-desmiente-a-cortijo
  4. And hits just keep on coming. That was a disaster. To make matters worse, my dear old 89 year old Mom (lives in the Indy area) called to trash talk me before the game......
  5. ok - I admit the title was a little misleading, But it is what happened. Looks really bad, but he's going to back coaching to the next game. Good thing it was Danielle Robinson, and not Danielle Adams. http://www.wnba.com/game/20150805/SANWAS/
  6. Graymule - now you can tell your wife the first 55 years is the hardest. Congrats and we look forward to many more milestones for you two.
  7. Can anyone tell me where Phillips parking lot is, and whether its a outdoors or indoors lot? Is it sort of below the CNN lot? One of the options for my Dream STH renewal is to get Phillips lot parking for $45. I don't know exactly where it is and if that's a good deal. The CNN and Centenial Lots are really nice, but cost quite a bit more. I keep thinking its where the scene close to Phillips from Walking Dead where Carol and Daryl went over the rail to get on the highway to get away from Zombies. See the picture.
  8. We had a pregame STH party yesterday and Taylor said that Sancho was on a 6-8 week schedule, and was 3.5 weeks in - possible return date as early as Aug 16. (Dream v. the Sun that day.) She is still saying playoffs are the goal (what else could she say?) Next game after that would be Aug. 21. She did say Burdick was out the for season. She did talk about trading Erika - Chicago first brought it up in April. With Erika's numbers dropping and the possibility she might not come back next year due to Olympics and she a Free Agent - so decided it was time to make the deal. It was a good game - had we not spotted the Mercury 18 points in the first half I think we could have won it. We almost did anyway. Henry did a good job on Griner, though Griner was probably off anyway. On the defensive end - Griner made life really difficult inside. But, despite not hitting from outside much, we still were in it. As for playoffs - looks now like Indiana and Chicago are the main competition - Indy is already 4.5 games ahead, playing quite now and finally have most players healthy. We play them next. Chicago is 5 games ahead. They play each other this week so one of them has to lose, but a loss against Indy would be a pretty big blow to playoff hopes. Too early for magic numbers and all that, but its an important week.
  9. Mikes Scott should have watched some episodes of "The First 48". Its a good education in how guys put themselves in jail by talking to the police. His only hope now, I think, is if his lawyer can find ways to challenge the search, for drugs. (Even that is pretty iffy, but could get reduced charges.)
  10. Tomorrow is Pink day. Laurel Richie in town, and we play the Mercury. We almost always lose when any one of those things happens - and now we are having all three at once. Its like having ticket on MH370 so that you can catch a ride on the Titanic, sailing to New Orleans the week of Hurricane Katrina. Well - we can only get beat once, though last night seemed like we got beat two or three times. Anyway, we continue to win the trade - Fowles 12 pt, 8 rebounds, 2 blocks, Erika 0,1,0; Dantas and Gray - 16/11/2.
  11. The part of this I find most astounding is that they got pulled over for following to close. Where are these cops when some jerk is tailgating me? It happens all the time and I've never seen one tailgater pulled over. Anyway, if there's no felonies involved in this stuff he may not be goin down after all.
  12. Well its Dantas' and Gray's night to shine against their old team - punish the Lynx for not loving them enough. Shoni will have a lot her fans there tonight, so its time for the Dream to give the Lynx a hard time. And the Lynx may be slightly overconfident.....
  13. He's going down, I'm yellin timber......
  14. Probably practicing for the Indy 500.
  15. Be really interesting to see who he hires as his defense attorney. Needs a "down home" or southern gentlemen type. Here's a couple of ideas: Bobby Lee Cook https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bobby_Lee_Cook Ed Garland http://articles.baltimoresun.com/2000-02-05/sports/0002050047_1_garland-hank-aaron-ray-lewis Any other ideas?
  16. I think it was 6-8 weeks that he mentioned. Season is over Sept. 13 so the math says its a season ending injury. As you noted Gray Mule - Sancho is a key to winning games for the Dream. The season wasn't going well even with her, but without her we are probably looking at a handful of wins. The worst part of all of this is that our team's owners (never known for patience or tolerance of losing) now can't evaluate how well our coach and GM have done with a healthy team. I suspect that once the loss of Sancho was known, and the assumption that Erika might leave next season (or spend most the summer preparing for Rio) led to the trade. Now, we've got a team without two of its main anchors left only with an Angel who can't do it all herself (but that won't stop her from trying.) So what do we have to look forward to? Well with the expectation of making the playoffs taken off maybe the team will get a chance to let Budrick, Dantas, Henry and Gray show what kind of players they can be, and maybe get better. Maybe Shoni will show she can play enough defense to not be a liability, and maybe Angel can decide to lead this bunch to some wins. Maybe Hayes will prove she still has a 3 point shot, and Ajavon will show she can actually be a PG instead of a turnover machine. And maybe our GM and coach will show that now that they have a bunch of draft picks (ours probably somewhere from 1 and 5, Minnesota at 12, and 2 more probably between 13 and 18) they can actually pick up some useful players in the draft like the Liberty, Sky, and Mystics have done. So every game now become a chance for an upset and to play spoiler could still be fun, as long as we don't look final score for too long. Could be a lot of fun to knock the Liberty or Sky out of first place and screw up their playoff position. Erika was the last of the original Dream players. The "old Dream" is over. Time for a New Dream to replace it. BTW - was looking at the Dream's 2008 (4-30 team) roster. Amazing thing is - as bad as that team was - 5 of the players are still in the WNBA. Two became All Stars (Erika and Latta), one became a WNBA Champ (Camile Little). In addition another became a solid starter (Tam Young) and one was a bench players that lasted 10 years (Jennrifer Lacy). Pretty impressive growth for a team that was one of the worst ever in WNBA history. If only the team we are left with now can do as well.
  17. Why stop with just horse racing. DOG RACING!!!!! Maybe we can get Michael Vick involved.....oh wait, wrong kind of dog sport.
  18. BTW - this may draw in all those Hawks fans that always want the Hawks to tank....
  19. Yeah - season is pretty much over as far as contending for the playoffs. If Parker can turn LA around, the Stars and Storm are our main competition for the celler, and they both just beat us. They do a lead in the race for pinpong balls, though. Good new is we won the trade - we got 19 points and 9 rebounds v. 4 and 4 for the Sky and 11/5 for the Links.
  20. Milton Jones back on the roster. For real? Typo? Who knows. Probably for real. All these young posts probably need some direction. Watched first half of Sky-Mercury last night to see how Erika did. She looked a bit lost to say the least....
  21. Why not locate it next to Underground in the Old World of Coke space? Might give some life to Underground. (I haven't been down there in a few years, so I'm not sure what's all there now.)
  22. I've wondered a little if the Nique statue was really a goodbye present. Is he still a part owner? Or team exec? Could be Hill takes over his role as the elder statesman of the franchise.
  23. The Dream's game intro video is going to be really short now - they already had to cut out Logic and Colhado, now Wheeler, Milton Jones, and Erika have to be cut out to. Taylor's July massacre continues..... Hey Mule - its your fault for pointing out Erika's no-arch shot. Can't wait for the Aug 29 game - Erika's homecoming. I'm sure the fans will give her a great ovation.
  24. Now that we cut two players, unless Sancho is ready to play we would only have 9 for the San Antonio game on Tuesday, which seems unlike (and maybe against the rules.) So something probably will happen between now and then.
