  1. "If the Hawks trade down, UConn center Donovan Clingan could be their target after he impressed the team in a private workout last week. Even if the Hawks stay put, Clingan could still be their first choice, with G League Ignite forward Matas Buzelis being a dark horse candidate."

My Sources(just trust me) said Buzelis really impressed the Hawks....

Its gonna be Clingan then trade up for Buzelis....

    I'm Calling it now....😀

What I said is "virtually nothing on offense as a skill."  He can dunk and do some things in transition, and they show the clips of his made 3's but not his misses.  Why does almost every podcast say he is extremely limited on offense?  I watched the film of him fumbling entry passes on the regular.  He actually has a lot of trouble catching a pass.

I'm trying to see what he actually is.  What I WANTED to see is a no brainer #1 overall talent. So, from my perspective I think people blind to Sarr's flaws are the people that see what they want.  I am trying to see him accurately for what he is without hype and understanding how significant his CURRENT limitations are.  That's not a limitation on what he will be.

I believe in his potential and said he's the best prospect.  But when people say things like, "If the Hawks don't pick Sarr I'm done as a Hawks fan" I don't think they understand how much development Sarr really needs, or that there are significant questions with something as basic as what position he translates to.

But yes, I saw a bunch of highlight clips.

Yeah I agree on his hands.. I saw him fumble some passes too...

    He definitely has flaws...

This is just a flawed draft overall....

Right, it’s like they forget the basis of the whole argument against Sarr which is “he is raw and not ready to play yet”. Meanwhile Clingan is the reach all because everyone thinks he is ready to play now and we want to contend next season, allegedly.

This draft pick should not factor at all in to our team building strategy for 2024-25. It is a bonus piece that we should invest in with our highly touted player development. There is not one player, Clingan included, that makes us title contenders overnight. That idea needs to be put to rest. Lebron, Zion, Wemby, etc… couldn’t do it overnight when they were drafted and none of those talents exist in the draft.

We have to have the same long vision for this pick as we would Kobe and MoGeuyes development. Build around Trae with vets and let the young guys contribute only when they’re ready.

Yeah ALOT of Sarr’s weaknesses seem to be much less of an issue at the 4 spot, (which he seems to be perfectly capable of playing btw). Maybe that makes for an awkward fit with Jalen for a while, but if they believe his shot will develop like Jalen’s has, I don’t see the problem. If anything, having above average size at the 3 and 4 gives you more leeway to play a smaller guy like OO at the 5 more. And it's still a real possibility Sarr can develop into a quality 5.

I think the Clingan at #1 stuff is a smokescreen.....(Even though they may like him).

I'm ready to get it over with tbh.. 😂

Cool! So based on this logic… Hawks aren’t trading the #1 pick for an NBA player unless its a star… so they’ll trade the #1 pick for lots of other picks likely in this years draft… for more bites at the rookie apple to get a star… in a draft that doesn’t contain a sure-fire star-potential player… putting us in rebuild mode… not in win now mode where Trae wants to be… got it.

If we want to keep Trae, then you build around him with win now players. If Hawks FO risks trading the #1 lottery pick (FIRST EVER mind you) to trade down for lots of unproven NBA rookies, then they are putting a lot of faith in their scouting/draft decision making, which I haven’t trusted since they traded Luka, traded for Hunter, didn’t draft Haliburton (regardless of his feelings), didn’t draft Tari Eason, and didn’t trade up for Lively II.

The #1 pick has less value this year because there is no stand out star-potential player (Sarr is the closest) and they are willing to trade it because Sarr is a PF and they believe Clingan is the answer?!? The dude did terrible in the combine vert/sprint/agility tests and has already had foot issues. Clilngan has one of the best floors in this class and will likely be a very solid rim protector/rebounder, but you don’t trade the #1 pick for someone someone like Kessler who’s not a modern NBA mobile/vertical big.

If the Hawks are crazy enough to trade the #1 pick (which sounds like doesn’t have the value for a proven NBA star) and it was for either unproven high-floor rookies or players that are NBA proven that fit with Trae’s window, I’m picking the latter any and every day. If the former, say hello to the start of our next rebuild without our next 3 picks (gifting SAS 3 top 6 lottery picks) or a star.

Let’s just get the finals over with (hopefully tonight), and then teams can start negotiating with their own free agents in a couple days, and trades will start getting lined up.......

Until then I take anything I hear/read with a grain of salt.. 😀

He wouldn't fix everything, but he is a floor spacer, which is one of the aspects we need.  He's also not an "I'm going to take the ball and use 10 seconds of the shot clock to get to my mid-range jumper" type of player.

We don't need any more players on the floor with Trae who don't care about playing Defense...

Id rather have his cheaper teammate Caldwell Pope ....

I don't have a lot to say about where Sarr will end up.  Probably because I'm just biased towards BPA/upside in general.  If I owned or ran an NBA team, I'd prioritize potential over everything.  Obviously no decision should be made without careful scrutiny, but that notwithstanding...I'd draft irrespective of position if the talent is there.  Unless you're 110% sure you're taking a player with equal or greater upside, you take the talent that's in your face and figure the rest out later.

It worked out for Cleveland in 2019 when they took Garland.  And look at the '84 draft.  As much as people like to go on about Michael Jordan being drafted 3rd, the '84 Blazers were positively stuffed on the wing.  It's a famous example to be sure, but I'm sure a lot of teams missed on talent for that very kind reasoning.

If filling a hole is that important, then I'd just trade the pick (or the guy I drafted) for an established star or young talent at a position of need.

This may be not the draft to simply draft BPA versus fit 100%. Because there isn't really a clear cut BPA, so you may as well take FIT into consideration.

I bet this is the F.O. thoughts as well.....

    I'm preparing myself for Clingan.....😀

Lundy can be a better version of Garrison Matthews and that might be just around the corner, we will see on Summer league. I still hope Griffin can return to first season, I agree on Gueye but the potential is so big! I am eager to see summer league, I think we will surprise a lot of people.

I like Gueye and Bufkin potential.

    Lundy and AJ? Meh

I said when they got the 1st pick the Hawks would screw it up and take the wrong Frenchman.  Looks like that's coming to fruition.

Yeah I kinda wish we were still at #10........😂

LF and the Hawks are gonna get killed by Fans/media if he picks the wrong guy 1st overall....

And with our luck, the #2 pick will turn into a Star.. lol

Still missing some regulars who have not voted like:

    @TheNorthCydeRises @Sothron @kg01 @terrell @RedDawg#8 @HawksNWaffles @Mikey @Hawkmoor @benhillboy

I'm scared to put my name on any of the top guys tbh.. 😀

My favorite prospect is Devin Carter......Im a big fan of Kel'el Ware too

But if I HAVE to choose for US right now at #1, I gotta bet on Sarr's upside....

Its just too many other variables Im not sure about yet, when it comes to this roster....LIke who's gonna be here, and who isn't??

If we were still at #10, Im taking Carter or Ware..

    My 2 fav prospects...lol
