It isn't clear to me that Turner is better than a healthy Capela straight up.  Fit seems maybe easier on paper but I'd be hesitant to make that deal for the Hawks.  Someone like Gobert or Embiid would be much easier targets for me to wrap my head around.  (And, yes, I'd expect they would cost more than Turner and be worth more than him.)

I guess the question is what IS worth the #6? I don't think the Derozan deal sounds great to me. If Morey wants to ship out Simmons, then maybe the #6 and cap relief get that done. I don't think Beal or Embiid is available? Gobert... maybe. He's expiring though. Seems to me the best option is to just draft the best player available tbh.

And FWIW, I would much rather have Turner next to Collins than Capela

You don't like his form? His release has a release point makes it hard to block

It's not quick. If it goes in, it goes in, but I doubt he'll be an off the dribble threat like that, and makes him easier to defend off ball too with closeouts.

IIRC he shot it from the top of his head, this is more from behind his head.

I think it's the angle (low camera from the side as opposed to the overhead NCAA shots). Could be wrong.

Edit: I'll add I LOVE his defense, wish I could love the whole prospect tbh

    21 minutes - 18 points (7/10,  2/5 from 3pt, and 2-2 from the ft line), 5 rebounds, 1 assist, and 1 steal.

If I knew this kid could shoot, I'd draft him easy. The passing, fluidity and athleticism look sharp.

Any interest in any of these guys. Hawks will have to waive Vince to clear a roster spot.

Group 1: Demarcus Cousions, Joakim Noah (signing w/ LAC), Gerald Greene, Trey Burke, Tyler Johnson, Iman Shumpert and CJ Miles

Group 2: Jaylen Adams, Cameron Payne, Dragan Bender, Dantay Hall, Jarrod Uthoff, Jordon Bell

    Group 3: Two way players.

Trey Burke, Tyler Johnson and Jordan Bell are interesting. In that order for me I think.

    Oh really?

Yea, I'm not an expert on the leagues over there, generally respect them, but when I watch clips of Poku it's not flattering. It must be a b-league or something. Even so, that's one smooth 7fter

You're skipping a step in PHI.  This year's flame out will be blamed on Brett Brown who will rightfully lose his job.  They won't break up Embiid/Simmons before that step and they certainly won't do it in the same offseason.  Honestly, considering the lost revenue and the weird/short offseason, there's a chance no major roster changes will happen.

I tend to agree on Gobert, value-wise, considering his contract. I suppose I'm assuming, if they trade for him, they'd do so with some 'understanding' on a next contract.  Similar to what HOU did when they acquired Chris Paul.

Probably true on the first front, the only reason they might break them up though is they are in cap hell now, gonna be pretty deep in the tax with no way to improve or even cut salary unless they dump one IMO. Maybe they could use Thybulle (and maybe their pick) to unload Horford, which I would hop on too btw.

To your second point, problem is that agreement with Chris Paul ended up with him on an absurd deal, and Paul is WAY better than Gobert even now IMO.

Ya I’m crossing out Toppin and Killian Hayes for sure. Hayes needs the ball in his hands we already got that in Trae. I’m still very much open to Lamelo though. He’s 2 inches taller than Killian, and can make great passes without necessarily dominating the ball.

Is it too late to trade the pick for Ben Simmons? @TheFuzz get in here! 😃

Knew y'all would come around. Once that Philly team implodes in the playoffs, bringing Simmons or Embiid in is our ticket to contention folks.

Speaking of trade, I wonder how realistic a Capela/'20 FRP-for-Gobert swap would be?  UTA was going nowhere fast before the stoppage.  Unlike PHI, UTA has enough tape to see their mix is bad.

Don't think Gobert is worth all that when he's up for a max soon. He'd make us better next season, but long term Capela+Pick is better for us.

  8. I'll stick with Hayes here. Okoro, Haliburton, Anthony, Maxey, Vassell and Nesmith, Deni all interest me too, have a lot of trouble picking between them. If Wiseman can pick and pop he's also interesting

Edit: the question in this draft is who can overcome their one or two big flaws. Somebody like Barrett last year just never had it IMO, but a lot of these guys are a skill away from being valuable

Why do you feel like they are so different?  I am assuming the distribution rate for Halliburton would make sense for mentality.  Skill set wise I don’t think is that different though.  Both are good shooters, good passers, decent defenders, but not very strong on the drive.

Haliburton is a more versatile passer and defender, and much more aggressive, better motor. Huerter has a more versatile jumper, has a pull up j which Hali lacks. Again I actually think its a decent comparison that I hadn't thought of, but there are some differences in their game. I'll say this: if Haliburton can shoot like Huerter we should draft him, because then he's just a better version, and I like Huerter

Hayes is all over the place. I saw a mock had him at #1! I like his size at 6’5” and combo guard skills. We do need a Hayes or Haliburton type for sure. Just wonder if we are gonna address it via draft or a vet FA like Jordan Clarkson or somebody like that.

Both Hayes and Ball are a little boom/bust for me. Tough draft to pin down

I don't see special. I do think he is as good on offense as Millsap, Horford and SAR. Even though Sap and Horford contribute a lot more on offense than Collins does, Collins is world class at what he does. The best in the NBA and maybe the best of all time. But at the end of the day, they are all 8.5 on offense.

I guess that's what I mean by special. He is a dependent player, but he's top 3 PnR big in the league at worst. I might take KAT over him due to his passing, but Collins rolls hard and pops really well. He's so good at it that I think we should take some time to try to make it work, cuz we're not getting a more dynamic offensive big next to Trae anytime soon.

Someone will pay John Collins, whether it's the Hawks or another team.

Teams had max cap money before 2021, the landscape is changing due to Covid-19. It bears watching.

I think Collins is special offensively. He's a difficult fit, but he may be worth that kind of money if we can put the pieces around him. He's an excellent offensive fit with Trae, too
