Which begs the question, how equal is the talent this time around?

Given how varied the mock drafts are, at least to this point, seems pretty darn equal... not a lot of consensus who is better than whom within those slots where we might draft, even less so than last season.

So, of course, no one can claim to know how many tiers Schlenk's draft board currently contains, but then it should surprise no one if he's got 8 or 9 players all grouped into the first talent-level tier... and by the same token, it should surprise everyone if he has each of the first 8 or 9 players in their own individual talent-level tier.

I take the BPA talk from Jerry Jones and from Travis Schlenk... and their peers... with a grain of salt almost every NFL and NBA draft, and I especially will feel comfortable in my cynicism this year.

BPA is in the eye of the beholder, I'm sure Schlenk's board is way different than the mocks out there.

Atlanta Hawks more assertive in Free Agency!

Who is Schlenk referring to regarding trading for a 25year old coming out of a 1st contract?

    Karl Anthony Towns

    Porzingus

    Booker

    D. Mitchell

Bertans jumps out among the UFAs. I think he's 27 and can shoot the lights out.

Didn't see this thread earlier. I'm all aboard the Killian Hayes train, also like Edwards and Okungwu. Not as interested in Wiseman.

Exclude the following players: Harrell, Bertans, Harris, VanVleet, Milsap and Galinari (these will be the most coveted UFAs)

Why? The only good team with cap is Miami (who might want to gold space for 2021), and the only other teams with real space are New York, Detroit and Charlotte. We are way more attractive than those guys. PLUS, a lot of those players are on teams with cap issues.

So my (pretty reasonable, I think ) offseason plan is this:

    1) draft a guard that can both back up and play next to Trae. Killian Hayes is my pick, nice combo of upside and fit. Haliburton and Ball are interesting

    2) Sign Bertans

    3) See what Philly is willing to give up to duck the tax, try to land either Richardson, Thybulle or Simmons from them.

    Potential new team:

    Trae/Hayes

    Richardson/Huerter

    Reddish/Hunter

    Collins/Bertans

    Capela/Dedmon

    4) Make the playoffs with a lot of room to grow.

  4. Dedmon for Horford and Thybulle, we lose some cap this/next year, get a young wing for the deal.

Philly gets out if the tax and still has a backup C for Embiid.

I'd also be interested in dealing for Simmons if they're open to that, but would probably take our pick

And this too from ESPN. It’s like Zach Lowe disses Trae then praises then back to dissing. The basketball gods will look down kindly on Klay Thompson cuz he’s a wuss and doesn’t invite contact on three point attempts. COMON ZACH HET IT TOGETHER!!!!

    6. Trae Young, begging for fouls

I like Trae Young fine. I put him on my All-Star roster even though he plays zero defense and his team is terrible. The idea that Young passes only to record assists -- not totally off-base, but a bit overblown -- has seeped into NBA discourse to the point that he is on the verge of being criminally underrated as a passer. His shooting bends defenses; the Hawks have been a legitimately good offensive team with Young on the floor -- no easy feat given injuries, inexperience, and John Collins' suspension. Young eviscerated Miami Thursday with a 50-spot.

Just stop dry-heaving in search of 3-shot fouls, please.

You know whom I miss even more in the face of such blasphemy? Klay Thompson. One of the half-dozen greatest shooters ever flat refuses to chase fouls, even when he pump-fakes defenders out of their shoes and his coaches beg him to lean into contact. Thompson is a man of honor. The basketball gods shall reward him upon his return.

Klay also kicks his leg out plenty. Did it when he tore his ACL...

Djones goes out, Alex Len goes in.

Things stabilize.  Alex Len now +16 in only 16 minutes.

Wow LP. Give Bruno Djone's minutes.

LP = very very clueless about subs patterns and lineups. We have lost 2-3 games this season due to it.

AWFUL LP. AWFUL. NO GOODSON, JUST LIKE WOODSON!

You wouldn't happen to have a PHD, would you?
