  1. I hear you. I would also like to be able to shift Al to PF, just not at that price associated with Asik. And his numbers this season aren't very good even when factoring in his lessened role as a backup. Why get a cheap C for half of this season whose price nearly quadruples next season (and thereby limiting our flexibilty in the offseason)? I would rather play C by committee now with Gus, Brand, & Pero (& occasionally Al) and look for the possibilty of bringing in more reasonable deals for next season and maybe Bebe, too, versus locking ourselves into a bad deal like Asik's just to have essentially a short-term rental. I just don't see the point. I don't really see Asik as that big of a game-changer, especially at that price. I'd rather keep the flexibilty and wait for the right move. And if Horf doesn't want to play C anymore, we can officially shift him to PF full-time and play the backups as C's by committee. Millsap can come off the bench (not playing great right now anyway) or we can play 2 PFs in Bud's system since it doesn't focus as much on the standard positions anyhow. We realistically aren't going after the ECF this year anyway (& probably not next year either), so why take on a bad deal just to make a move? DF has shown a strong emphasis on flexibilty, and Asik would hamper that substantially next year. Nearly $15M is a big chunk of cap space.
  2. I'm aware that his cap hit is only around $8M, but my point was that I can't see DF and the A$G thinking that's a good business move. Regardless of what the league sees as the cap hit, that's a lot of $$$ for someone that's not going to get us any closer to being a contender. I like Asik okay, but if he's our highest paid player (next year) we're doing something wrong. We'd need something else to make that deal make sense. But yes, you are right about not being able to move Paul yet, even if he was playing well enough to pique their interest. But I don't see it happening for the reasons already mentioned, unless other pieces are part of the deal.
  3. The Asik -Milsap trade hasn't gone down and probably won't because the dude makes nearly $15M next year. Plus, he hasn't really looked good at all this year. But the money thing is the biggest issue.
  4. Jason Kidd and his sneaky tricks.... smh Here's where you can see him tell Taylor to "hit me": http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/10048642/jason-kidd-calls-hit-spill-drink-ice-free-throw-shooter Good for us it didn't work!
  5. Per 790 The Zone just now, KK not with the team in Houston b/c of unspecified injury.
  6. If there was a way to snag Noah can you imagine how happy Horf would be? (And me too for the record) not sure how it would happen, but man that would be nice!
  7. Wilkommen aus der Hawksquawk!Herr Schröder ist wirklich gut, aber nicht jetzt ein NBA Professional. In Zeit wird er wie Rondo sein; vielleicht in drei oder vier Jahren sollen wir sehen.
  8. I still can't believe that BKN will stay this bad. Don't get me wrong, I suuuure would love it if they did. Yeah, I know that they're old and plagued with injuries, but over the course of the year it seems like their stars will get healthy and they will mesh and start getting it together. I'm still keeping my BKN starting five voodoo dolls out right next to the needles, scissors, and pliers, but I'm not counting on that magic working for 82 games.
  9. Meh, we really should've had this one in control by the time BOS started getting in a rhythm in the 4th and when the refs started ignoring all the blatant fouls on our guys. But at least it gives the Nets a slightly worse position in their division, which sucks pretty badly, and we got to see a great jam and block by Milsap. And the Korver 3pt streak lives on. So a few small good things came out of this loss.- Silver Lining Susie
  10. Ouch!!!He sure didn't help himself with his performance this evening! You think they're regretting giving him that deal already???... And DF winds up smelling like a rose again ...
  11. Btw - Steve Holman on 929 said that Josh was benched for the start because he stayed in Atlanta yesterday instead of going back to Detroit with the team and missed practice. That was his punishment.
  12. Looked like he's lost some serious weight, eh? Shockingly thin almost to me. You or anyone else notice that? That must be a part of him trying to play the 3, I guess.
  13. I'm sure some of you did see me. I was trying to put bunny ears on Nique at one point. And as to the pics, if you've got a Help article link, I'd love to see it. Apparently my IQ isn't high enough to figure it out. Great win for the ATL even though it was sloppy. Pretty sure that was the lowest scoring 1st quarter of the season thus far. I really want to crush the Pistons on Friday. Sick 'em! GO HAWKS!
  14. Man, I had some serious seats at this game. I was literally staring at the back of Nique and Bob's head the whole game. Really happy we came away with a 'W' in this one. It's amazing how much smaller the players and the court look in real life that up close - I thought normally it was the other way around. I thought it was funny that whenever Josh had the ball anywhere near the 3-pt line, the whole arena said "Shoot it! Josh, shoot the ball!" Had me cracking up. There was this crazed guy a few rows behind me with a sign showing Josh's 3pt % this season constantly screaming at the top of his lungs for Josh to "Shoot it! You're such a great shooter - just shoot it!!!" If I could figure out how to upload JPEGs or PDFs I'd post some pics of the back of the announcer's head and Josh warming up on his long 2's and 3's ...
  15. Are they mediocre? Maybe. But I think the plan from the beginning was to give it a decent fight, but when the going gets tough not to sweat it too much. We were wise keep Lou out of this one, and instead focus more on getting our backups some great experience, and keep an eye towards kicking butt tomorrow night vs. Pistons. We have got to win all the easy games we're supposed to win, be competitive and try and steal a few games from some better or evenly matched teams when we can, and get our developing guys some good experience so they can play great ball next year and on down the line. It would be great to beat the Heat, but it's better not to wear our guys out so they lose out tomorrow or in the next back-to-back in a couplr days. Let's be smart and try and win as many as we can, keep up our meager reputation up, keep fans and other players at least somewhat interested, so that maybe we can make some good moves at the deadline or in FA.(It's also really important that we focus on winning tomorrow since I've got great seats just a couple rows up right at half court, where I'll have a great view if You Know Who throwing up lots of long twos and threes!!!)
  16. Seriously. Well idk about all star, but for a second rounder on a super cheap deal very early in his second year, he sure can produce great numbers in the limited minutes he's given. Plays very well around the basket. Seems to like the three ball a good bit lately when I think he'd do better going low, but he ain't turrible there either. After this season will he be just a regular ol' FA or is he restricted?
  17. I don't think we are going after Asik for the simple reason that next year he makes $15M. I don't care about the salary cap hit only being $8M, I just don't see DF or the ASG going for that. That is reason enough. But when coupled with his lack of offense, that's just one more reason not to do that deal.So it's either keep Sap or trade for someone with a better deal and real value. Hawes or Gortat would be interesting. Now, if Asik could go ahead and agree to and sign an extension with us, well that would be worth considering. But not where he just comes here for 1.5 yrs, makes a ton of cash, then likely walks. And I don't know for sure, but I don't think Asik could sign an extension until next year. So stick a fork in that discussion as far as I am concerned.
  18. I don't know how many people think he's a bust, but his first few games are certainly bringing many people's expectations down to earth, and for many that's a long fall. He's certainly got potential, but as far as giving the franchise over to this kid and unloading Teague, well, that sounds a lot less appealing now than it might have 2 weeks ago now that people see how much he has to grow. He will get there, but in time. For now I am just excited to see Teague tearing things up!
  19. I am pretty bullish on the Nets. There's just too much star power there to slide out of the playoffs. I'd be really surprised if they somehow wind up with a worse seed than us in the playoffs (assuming no major roster changes on our part). But then again, I didn't foresee them sucking this bad. And nothing personally against the man, but I hope Derron Williams' ankle injury tonight is more serious than it looked.
  20. Teague was faking out Hawes like it was nothing and tossing up scoop shot after scoop shot, making Hawes spin around like a turnstyle. Loved that he kept driving and getting in the lane a dropping a floater or making Philly foul him. That's the aggressiveness that everyone wants to see, and it'll lead him to keep the status of the best PG in the East that he's got right now. As for Schröder, I don't know. I never thought he was ready to start right now or anything, but I saw the DraftExpress videos like everyone else on here and was really excited. He played well in SL too. But tonight there were some crazy bad turnovers - like stuff you'd think you'd see in a middle school game or something. And nights like tonight where he puts up numbers of 1 pt, 1 assist, and 3 TOs in 12 mins are getting kind of scary. Maybe Schröder is homesick and just really misses his big German bratwursts or something. (There's a good joke involving Cousins in there if you want it. Go ahead, it's okay.)
  21. So who wants to dump Teague and hand the keys over to Schröder?33 / 10 ain't too shabby if you ask me!
  22. At the game ... Korver hit 70%+ of his warm up shots after the half. I was counting. Not particularly meaningful, but just thought I'd share. :-)
  23. Ha! If my broke a$$ phone would hold a charge longer than 30 mins i'd give it a shot for ya. Especially since they're lower bowl tix! The only other time I've gotten tickets off the radio they were crappy upper deck nosebleed seats.I can't even tell y'all how excited I am to hear that Lou Williams might be coming back tonight. Now that Josh is gone he's the only hometown guy I've got left on this team. Defense or no defense I'm really excited to see what he can do on the floor and let that dog loose!
  24. And who's got two thumbs and just won tickets to the game tonight on 929 The Game? THIS GUY!!! Great timing, Lou! It should be fun to watch him come back.GO HAWKS!
