  1. He is. That's not really a hot take at this point but that doesn't mean Trae can't be one of the best ever. He's Basketball Messi.
  2. Bruno and Dedmon aren't in the core. We need shooters. Dallas got snipers. I know we hope Cam and Hunter are snipers in year 2 but we need more than Kevin and Trae and we need movement ones too. Not the spot up types who can't defend.
  3. People keep talking about not drafting Toppin, Parker is a prime example why we need an excellent backup 4. Parker played good for like 6 games, had some of us like, pay him 12 mil a year. Dunking everything hard af. Fell off like a mug when teams started taking away some of the PnR stuff and he became Jabari, the king of the blackhole. We looked like shit.
  4. It ain't Trae's fault. Our supporting cast was too young and our bench was beyond trash. Now we are adding Kevin and Dedmon to the bench. Hopefully Obi Toppin. Add some shooters and we are good. We need to shoot mfers out the gym.
  5. Unless you went through what we went through on RealGM last year when this site was down, you probably wouldn't have that same logic.
  6. This is true. That's why I always root for him to lose. Always. I used to be a fan of Dallas. My 2nd team. I used to have a Dallas jersey with my last name on it because I loved Nash and Dirk and I was cheering my ass off for them to beat Miami both times. I hate Lukastans.
  7. I honestly fell De'Andre, Cam, and Trae were robbed not getting 8 games in the bubble. Cam was probably gonna pop like Michael Porter Jr. Hunter would look like the 3 people want him to look like and Trae would be looking like a legit star Trae. They got robbed. Right now, this is 2 year MPJ, year 3 Luka, it's not fair.
  8. Buy one. Realistic buy another 2nd rounder.
  9. Hard to say, Smart isn't the athlete that Okoro is much less have the first step but he's a really versatile player on both ends. Kinda hard to compare the two. No one is going to confuse Smart for being a wing. Okoro is a big wing.
  10. Hawks do not need to draft for need. Trade yes but not significant assets Toppin is comparable to Amar'e, Griffin, Siakam, Horford, etc. He comparable to a lot of bigs because he does damn near everything.
  11. He doesn't to me. Smart was an on ball offensive player at OK State. He had to learn to be the player he became today. Okoro is already comfortable off the ball and pretty good at it.
  12. I don't know what our plan is yet. I don't think the Hawks know either yet. Medicals, combine, measurements, interviews, workouts, etc still needed. Remember, TS had Culver over Hunter and Reddish and listed him as our top prospect after the big 3.
  13. Don't forget the movement skills and passing potential. Jaylen Brown is also a name he compares to favorably shooting wise as a prospect
  14. The depth at PG this year in the draft is insane. It's like the center position in last year's draft

Spud, listen to this on Toppin from his parents. https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/no-s-toppin-the-incredible-rise-of-obi/id1496175941?i=1000468384331 This says a lot. 25 min mark. His dad talks about how he was getting him the exposure at such a young age. High end exposure. Not AAU, he didn't play AAU till 17. This is part of the reason why his game is so impactful. He was taught how to play the game, the right way mentally. This doesn't just come. Luka and guys like Trae just aren't born with it. They are coached and trained. That's why I keep saying, this kid is different. Don't pass on him. He is special. I don't feel that way about anyone else is this class. I am skeptical but not with this kid and how we play in our system.
  16. He traded him for Kemba Walker who's an All Star PG, and no, still not interested on Atlanta behalf.
  17. Defensively, I think he can. Offensively, naw. He's a 5 for now. I can see that. I like the fact that guys can play more than 1 position outside of the PGs.
  18. Not interested in moving down for Marcus Smart. Danny would instantly decline. He loves Smart
  19. I simply forgot to add him. No hard feelings. He would be ahead of the PGs at 5. I still see him as a modern 5. I kept trying to see him as a 4 and that only works if we were in 1996.

The first time I seen him this year in the Hawaii Tourney. I was like, Dayton? I heard about Obi Toppin from the Nike event and he was the best player but I remember he worked out with Atlanta and I didn't hear he stood out as a potential draft pick. Too small is what I heard 210 at the time of the workout. I wasn't really expecting much honestly. UGA/Dayton. Edwards/Hammonds v. Toppin - I had Hammonds as a potential 1st rounder-early 2nd rounder if he continues to grow and obviously Edwards as the 1st overall pick. Toppin, I had expected him to be a 2nd rounder. I seen some nice highlights the previous season but I didn't think, this guy can be good in the NBA. He was dominate, possession by possession. He played the perfect modern big like Al Horford. I was like WTF is this. I was expecting to see UGA in a real game against a potentially good team, Edwards to shine and they got their ass whooped. So I was like, I will keep watching Dayton. He just kept impressing me. I was expecting it to be like De'Andre Hunter, where he impressed me but by the mid point of the season, I can tell this guy is near his potential but I am still very impressed by his mental ability, potential versatility down the road, and the fact that he has so many strengths with so few flaws when projecting down the road. I never saw the Kawhi stuff but I did see a good player who can potentially defend 2-5 (smaller 5s). What I got was, no this dude is an elite offensive player. He can produce. His defense obviously did standout as a weakness which does hurt him for being a #1 pick but that makes sense to some degree. For me, his playmaking, decision making, feel for the game, BBIQ, intangibles, finishing, and scheme versatility is what impress me most. The other stuff was a nice add, the explosiveness, movement skills, shooting touch, shooting was a tad rough, I think he needs some work on it still, potential face-up and ball-handling game. He just has it all offensively for a movement big. I hear him say he wants to play like AD but AD isn't exactly the best big to model after. I honestly think he should just take bits and pieces, he's does more than just about every PF I've ever seen in the modern game. I can't think of one PF who can do more than Toppin. Not one. He obviously can't dominate the way Giannis can, no one can but he does more. He does more than anyone and that's what's impressive and the average fan doesn't understand what does more is. They don't really understand the game like that the way coaches and GMs can. I get it, but I hope the GMs do. They tend to overscout and I think it's a mistake in this case. This kid is the real deal.
  21. Shooters. Get one for free - McDermott
  22. Beating Orlando without Issac and Gordon is not impressive. It's not impressive with them either.
  23. Some of our best picks have been "old ass rookies" Nique Horford Diaw Mike Scott and Moose for 2nd rounders Alan Henderson Jason Terry I like taking the best players who have a chance to grow to be excellent players. If that's an "old ass rookie" Take em. Before you bring up bust like Shelden, we passed on old ass rookies in that draft like Brandon Roy. Before you bring up old ass Acie Law, we passed on old ass Aaron Brooks.
