Can/will the league step in here? What's stopping the Heat from saying "your options are let him waste away and not play for your team or take Salary filler and a 2RP from us"? The only other option the Blazers have is to hope some team just says screw it and calls Dame's bluff. Or the NBA steps in ala CP to the Lakers. There's no real way to confirm it, but how do we know Dame isnt "colluding" with the Heat in order to keep their roster and future as strong as possible here?

You're just talking about contracts. That's not really related to what's happening here. Again. Dame already had the chance to get everything he wanted in his contract. He could have asked for a no trade and complete leverage. He didn't. So know he's strong arming portland in the media to get his way at the expense of the team that entered into a good faith contract AND that fan base. Asking and getting 200+ million guaranteed while also being a free and clear free agent whenever you want is antithetical to a contract. It's not how this works.

I don't mind asking to be traded for the most part. Things can change. But you can't have it both ways. You can't say "I want the money" and also say "I don't want any of the restrictions this puts on my labor. I want stability but also total free agent freedom whenever I want."

Picking your one and only destination is free agency. Dame chose to sign his last contract though. If he wanted to be able to pick his one and only destination, enter free agency. Working the media so you get exactly what you want and the other party gets the shaft is not how contracts work.

Oh okay. Im kind of on team semi-blow it up/reset. I don't mind getting off all of Collins, Capela, Hunter. Get a backup big and a cheaper pure 3 and D guy. Pay OO, DJM(if things improve slightly), maybe Bey at the right price next year and have a core of Trae, DJ, AJ, JJ, OO, maybe Bey, an overpriced shooter in Bogie, fill in the gaps and try to add one other big piece somewhere.

Where is Capela supposed to go lol or do you mean gone completely? Also, I'm just not sure I agree going *another* year hoping that Collins improves his stock is a good gamble. That's why were here in the first place. I'm not sure Collins performance is the only factor here. He would have to improve a lot for teams to want that contract.

It's pretty evident looking at the salaries list. The Hawks have 4 guys in that 50ish-80ish range, and like 2 of them are unquestionably worth it? It's hard to look at our roster and think its worthy of luxury tax level.

So what do you do with JJ? I'm just not sure I see this as some great detriment to the future of the Hawks. They have, at least, 2 very good options to fill Collins minutes. So why go into the tax for a player who isnt a need? Again, Im fully with yall about the value of this trade, but that ship sailed 3 years ago. Financially, do y'all really want them to go into the tax for Collins? And then next year have to dump him for probably even less(attaching picks TO him) so you can pay the guys you have to like DJ and OO?

That's the one that stood out to me on the sub 25 mill list, but I don't know why the Pistons would do that. Legitimately don't know lol. They don't really need the money do they?
