  1. When did this board turn into such a shit show?? Lord.
  2. He was an RFA and the Ravens would have matched absolutely any offer unless some team offered him something RIDICULOUS. It also would have tied up all of the Falcons cap space for 5 days while the Ravens decided to match or not(we NBA fans know this too well). No Bates. No Onyemata. No ellis. None of them would have been signed. It also costs TWO firsts to sign an RFA. One of those would have been pick #8. So you can add No Bijan to the Bates, Onyemata, Ellis list. Not a single other team was interested in this charade from the Ravens. But the Falcons are the ones that get shit on. Alight. People are so quick to recognize the shaft the Hawks get from the media, but are super eager to just accept the same negative narratives when it's the Falcons.
  3. This isn't directed at you, but I think this is a fine example. NFL fans are pretty terrible when it comes to "narrative" based conclusions. This is the exact same thing that was said about Matt Stafford. That turned out fine. This is the exact opposite of what people said about Goff(he was a nobody/carried by Mcvay) and that turned out fine. People see big numbers and don't realize that's just the cost of things. This deal isn't that far off from Daniel Jones... It's 7 mill a year off from Lamar.
  4. Yeah definitely those last two parts. I don't mean to bash Bamba, but he's the poster child for a lot of this to me. What you're saying also seems to be 100x worse when its a 7+ footer. You see Bamba or Bol Bol do something wild once in a blue moon and people expect it to be "real" when prospects like those two never showed any inkling that it'd ever become consistent. The hit rates on these "theyre so freaky!" big men is so damn small(I'm not talking about Edey here). And the ones that hit, were at least somewhat consistent with their "freakiness" in their time before the NBA. Guys like Embiid, Jokic, AD, Bam. JJJs advanced stats(on court impact) in college blew guys like Bamba away(I remember having those debates here lol). Too many people put expectations on big men that they will get to the NBA and be wildly different than they've been before, and meh. I'm not trying to say big men can't be developed. I just mean the ones that get hyped up off of a 3 minute highlight clip that is 1% of their playing time and the other 99% is ass.
  5. Take solace in the fact that you weren't alone lol. Err...I mean that one poster wasnt alone. That was a wild time on the interwebs/twitter.
  6. The last time I remember a big man getting this much push on here, was.... Mo Bamba. Gross lol.
  7. Man, we really wasted 3 straight lottery picks... Not even complaining about not getting "star" talent. We barely got a single above average starter with 3 lottery picks(plus some for the Dre trade) *Hunter is a fine player, but he's injured way too much to be good value for that pick.
  8. Messy Ressy, sure... But I'm not sure he's an absolute idiot. This will easily put the Hawks in Oakland A's territory. I get having fans isn't really what makes these teams money(huge problem) but at some point you at least need to keep a few of them...
  9. I could see reading his response that way, but I just don't know. He said "I haven't sat down and thought about that. Im focused on what's in front of me". Which to me implies that he still *needs* to sit down and think about it. Or at least, I can easily see how Trae might read it that way. I'm not saying that he "doesn't have a plan" for Trae, I'm just saying that's what his quote says. Which is very bad, regardless of what he meant to say.
  10. I'm looking for any glimmer of hope that this organization is up for the challenge it faces, but at every turn they prove that they are most certainly not. I haven't even touched on the fact that his Trae/DJ pairing comments were just another signal that the Hawks will be desperate in the trade market. We're in such a bad spot, man. Our only hope left is that some organization will treat us fairly in a trade this summer, but we have already seen that no team seems to respect this front office.
  11. Exactly. It's probably the easiest question a GM could ever be asked. And his brain immediately went to the worst place it could have. That is damning when just thinking about Trae. When thinking about how that might be a glimpse into his capabilities as a GM.....wooof. How do you handle negotiations when you piss the easiest question down your leg?
  12. I want to give him the benefit of the doubt, but I can't lol. Even looking through the most rose colored glasses, he's proclaiming that he's woefully unprepared for the moment. You can be completely blindsided by the question, but under no circumstances should your brain ever immediately go to "Ehhh, idk" when asked about your superstar. The same superstar that was probably already very annoyed with your job performance.
  13. I'm still just baffled by the Trae comment. It is terrible on so many different levels. The only thing worse would have been him saying "Ah, we hate Trae, f*** that guy", but even then, that would point to him having a plan. How on earth do you answer a question about your star with "Idk, havent really thought about it". That's your whole job! You don't have a plan for your most important player? WHAT? What. In. The. World.
  14. Gee, I wonder why we can't ever get any serious offers lol.
  15. On one hand 100% On the other, I'm getting very jaded that this Hawks FO(Ressler included) will *ever* get a serious offer for players on a roster that *has* to be retooled.
  16. I've about had enough of every team that we deal with trying to fleece us. I don't remember the last time we even heard a *rumor* that was reasonably fair value.
  17. I swear if we mismanage assets into getting a shitty return AGAIN......
  18. +1 for actually spelling it right lol
  19. This city desperately needs a boycott of its teams(not the Braves) The owners were stuck with dont care at all about the product on the court/field and as long as they're rolling in the dough, why would they?
  20. Please do. This team is still the same as it ever was.
  21. This team has ZERO excuses left. Quin is a good coach and yall STILL suck.
