  1. He lives to hate on Trae. And where is @Bonkers? Trae goes down, and he falls off the Earth.
  2. This is where you always get in trouble with player evaluations. Just stick to saying that Edy will be a positive to the lineup, if we add him. Don't go to the extreme and say that Trae + Murray + Edy = AII time NBA offensive production. KB may be vastly underselling Edy, but you're overselling Edy the other way. The truth is somewhere in the middle. The question is, which attribute will define him the most .... His offensive skills in the paint or his lack of defensive mobility in space?
  3. You're grading on the very low end of the curve if you're giving Quin an A. That means that no matter what this team did, he was going to get the benefit of the doubt and get a high grade for "player development." That's what we said LP's role was. Quin was brought here to win, and not be a player development coach. Quin could've already elevated OO to the starting center spot over Clint. He also could've played him more minutes at the 4 beside Capela, to shore up our rebounding issues and expand OOs game even more. But he didnt. Instead, he's opted to play small ball and emphasize spacing, with a team that isn't tough and not a high shooting 3 point percentage team. He consistently played Bey out of position and gave him the green light to shoot, despite brick after brick being shot by him. We gave minutes to Trent Forest instead of letting Bufkin get spot minutes with the big team. We've seen AJ go from a promising piece of the future last season ( under Nate ), to a guy who can barely hit the floor under Quin. Bruno, until everyone got hurt, was locked onto the bench, even when we lost Jalen in December. The one guy that could bring some energy and toughness to the frontline, wasn't even thought about until damn near the entire frontline got hurt. Defensively, this team was a sham, in part to Quin's player rotations and defensive philosophy. At best, Snyder gets a C+ for his coaching this season. It would've just been a solid C, if not for our defensive minded role players and the stellar play of DJ, keeping the team afloat in March.
  4. Excellent? We're below .500. How does he get an A?
  5. Still not an Edy fan on the NBA level, but he 100% shut down the lane today on defense and flat out controlled it on his offensive end.
  6. Give a letter grade to Quin this season. I'm interested to see how you view him right now.
  7. That is why he sabotaged the game. Quinn never goes with the hot hand. He always sticks to his rotations. And that's a big problem when you have an undersized team. Play Bruno at the four. Play Clint at the five. Stay big the rest of the game. He has to coach by the feel of the game. Why doesn't he do that? Vit gave us nothing on both ends of the floor. Keep playing the guy who is bringing the energy and will keep that energy going. It makes no sense how Quin coaches these rotations.
  8. Quin needs to get Vit out and get Bruno right back in the game. You got Giannis and Brook in the game. Go big to match their size and secure defensive rebounds. Let DJ, Dre, and Bogi carry your offense.
  9. since then, Bruno has taken over the game
  10. Bruno keeping us in the game. Everyone else is playing soft and scared lol ... now the refs gotta get Bruno out
  11. Freudian slip, huh GM. Is Edy the 2nd coming of Will Perdue from Vanderbilt, who in the NBA was part of Chicago's 3-headed monster at center? Perdue was a dominant center and SEC POY in his senior year
  12. I'm not an Edy fan. I think he'd get destroyed on the defensive end when teams run pick and roll. Most of us know that Edy will more than likely not be a starting level center. If Filipowski is on the board, I'd take him. Having said that, Edy does possess offensive skill sets that should immediately translate on the next level. So I see why people are enamored with him. Plus he's 7-4. And were a severely undersized team. A Trae - Edy 2 man game would be interesting. If anyone can maximize Edy's worth in the NBA, it's Trae. So I get the intrigue, while also fully understanding your concerns.
  13. To supes point, playing fast hasn't helped us. There's a great thread active right now indicating that we've had our most success when we've played slower.
  14. For those of you wondering about defense pre and post Trae ( which is essentially pre All-Star vs post All-Star ), here is how the team looks. League average FG% is 47.5% RED: Any defender that has a DFG% of over 49% . . . . Bad defense BLACK: Any defender that has a DFG% between 46% and 49% . . . Average defense GREEN: Any defender that has a DFG% less than 46% Defended FG% pre All-Star A lot of red here ( no surprise ). Among rotation players, only Bogi, JJ, and Dre played average defense, from a DFG% standpoint. Wesley Matthews, who have only played in 1/2 of the games, was statistically our best DFG% guy. Take out any outliers like Vit, Lundy, Dylan, Seth and Kobe only playing a few games, or even AJ who played 17 games, in very limited minutes. Because Forrest did get extended run in most of the games he played, I'd say his numbers are legit, despite playing in only 19 games. Defended FG% Post All-Star DJ's defense has actually gotten worse playing strictly the point, but almost every other player's defense has improved. In this stretch, Bogi, Jalen, and Clint have all been excellent defenders during this stretch. Hunter has slipped into the "bad defense" category over the last few games. The big thing is that Bruno ( still in the average range, but trending bad ), Garrison, and Vit, are average defenders. Vit especially has been good defensively, and is about to cross over into the "good" range, defensively. Forrest is normally rock solid defensively, which is why he's received spot minutes for most of the year when we have a guard out. Toss out the outliers of Trae ( Chicago game ) and OO's 2 games that he came back ( although both have been out during a significant stretch of this decent run by the team ).
  15. Boston ( 3/28 ) Defense https://www.nba.com/game/bos-vs-atl-0022301060/box-score?type=defense Because of the way the Celtics play, you must be able to somewhat control Tatum and Brown, while also not letting the others go off. We all loved the hustle that the team was showing, and their ability to stay right with Boston the entire game. They struggled guarding the 3. But they did keep grinding as a team. And they defensive rebounded well That leads me to the play of our centers. Clint Capela was fantastic last night. Looked almost like 2021 Capela. He rim protected. He challenged 3 point shots. He was just outstanding. His activity on defense, along with the https://www.nba.com/stats/events?CFID=&CFPARAMS=&ContextMeasure=DEF_FGA&EndPeriod=0&EndRange=31800&GameID=0022301060&PlayerID=203991&RangeType=0&Season=2023-24&SeasonType=Regular Season&StartPeriod=0&StartRange=0&TeamID=1610612737&flag=1&sct=plot&section=game And that leads me to his backup, Bruno Fernando. Didn't really do a good job with his paint defense with guys shooting over him. But he was outstanding with his perimeter defense. In the 1st quarter, the Celtics came down on 4 out of 5 possessions shooting a 3, looking to extend a lead. Bruno was there to contest all 4 of those 3 point attempts, which were misses. And in the 4th quarter, Bruno played good defense on Tatum, forcing 2 missed shots from him. All in all, our centers were the big stars of our defensive effort last night Hustle Hunter led the team with 11 contested shots, despite having 20 taken on him. But Bruno had 10 contested shots out of the 12 taken on him. His effort and energy has been greatly appreciated. But the big number to the left, that jumped out at me, were 36 screen assists. This is basically Bruno ( 10 pts ) and Capela ( 15 ) setting and holding screens for either DJ or Bogi, so they can snake their way into the paint, or get an open 3 off of a handoff. And a big shout out for grabbing 10 box out rebounds . . . on a team that seems to only get 3 - 4 per game. 45 contested shots out of 94 total by the Celtics = 47.9% 22 contested 3 point shots out of 36 total = 61% Good to not give up a ton of open 3s.
  16. 30 total assists for Bruno this year. 15 of them have gone for 3s. Pay attention to the dribble handoff, then the screen, which leads to the shooter having space to take a 3. These were some of the same attributes he was displaying as a rookie. https://www.nba.com/stats/events?CFID=&CFPARAMS=&ContextMeasure=AST&GameID=&PlayerID=1628981&Season=2023-24&SeasonType=Regular Season&TeamID=1610612737&flag=1&sct=plot&section=game
  17. I've been looking for this thread and finally found it. This is from Bruno's rookie year. Distinctly pay attention to my breakdown of Bruno's assists and how he worked with Trae. LP never tried to develop Bruno's potential and didn't let him play through his mistakes. I've always thought that Bruno would be Trae's ideal running mate at center, because his screens would completely free up Trae to attack the middle. And now, Bruno's hands are solid enough to catch some of Trae's lobs and really become a scorer in the paint. But again, it goes back to what I said about LP and then about Nate. Do these coaches worry more about having scoring threats at every position? Or do they try to balance out the lineup, so that our frontline stays big? We have 3 guys on the team ( Trae - DJ - Bogi ) that are talented enough to carry a team offensively, if need be. Hunter is becoming one of the best 3 point shooters in the league. The issue is keeping a balance of scoring and defense in the game at all times. Bruno still has untapped ability as a playmaker that Quin hasn't realized yet.
  18. Way to make up for it Dre. Offensive rebound a d a 3 point assust to Bogi
