  1. He definitely makes a difference in wins and losses. When he plays well, we normally win. When he sucks like tonight . . . we lose. But THIS is why it's great to have a 2nd high level star on the team. Murray has more than picked up the slack and got us back in the game. When Trae comes back, it's up to him to play under control and not give away possessions.
  2. Excellent job Murray. Way to run the team. The scrub group is also playing great defense.
  3. Not all Trae's fault, but he's the biggest contributor to why we are behind double digits right now. In games like these, I need him to be decisive. When I say "shoot the ball Trae", it's because I don't want him overthinking shit. If you got a shot, take the damn shot. Don't try to make the perfect pass all the time.
  4. That lineup is actually more balanced than starting Dre at the 4 and Bogi at the 3. It's Trae's responsibility to make the right plays with a grouping like that. Rust or not, he's been a PG all of his life. If his hand is bothering him, he needs to play a lot safer.
  5. No excuse. He's better off just shooting the ball, than making difficult cross court passes to people who really aren't open. No zip on the passes, so just shoot the damn ball. I'd rather for him to be 0 - 7 in this game, than 0 - 3 with 5 turnovers.
  6. Bruno ( -14 ) in 3:18 Bruno is like . . . they only hit 2 shots on me. That ain't my damn fault!!
  7. Flat out unacceptable quarter from Trae. That was f***ing horrible. Either shoot the damn ball, or make sure the passes are on time. He passed up 3 shots on the 5 turnovers he committed. Don't make it that damn easy for them. OK DJ . . . let's see what you got. Your boy dug you a tremendous hole. You want to be the leader of the team? Let's see how you and the Hawks handle this.
  8. Can't deny this. He has to trust his bench in this game. NO way around that.
  9. Can't deny this. He has to trust his bench in this game. NO way around that.
  10. Murray stepping up to the challenge in the 1st quarter. Very nice to see.
  11. I truly believe we're going to be up double digits all of the 2nd half.
  12. Capela is right. The core group of this team has been in these battles before. And they've won big playoff road games. Just keep that little screaming ass girl at home. She's adorable, but I don't need her screaming at Capela and Bruno at the FT line.
  13. It does, but only when you have 6 - 8 high level players you can count on. We're like a Spades hand. We have 2 and a possible we can count on. And that number ( and player ) varies from game to game. Quin needs to play 9+ players, in order to figure out which guys are going to provide that spark for the team. At that point, you can shorten the rotation in the 2nd half, in order to maximize the personnel grouping for that particular game.
  14. Instead of hoping that Trae and DJ score 60+ points and dish out 15+ assists, can we get our defensive guys to shine and pull out a game? Capela - do not let Vuc or Drummond kill you on the boards Bruno - same objective, but also provide that hustle energy on defense, leading to stops and takeaways. Hunter - limit Derozan to sub 42% shooting and stop him at the end of game
  15. If that player can play, he should definitely take time from some of these guys. We can't keep throwing this mediocre product out on the floor, and act like their position in the roster is untouchable.
  16. How many games have we lost to injury the past 3 seasons?
  17. If the Hawks want to sign him to a longer term deal w/o him become a RFA, then I see why they left Vit off the playoff roster. If we added him, but didn't get out of the play-in, what was the use in adding him? It would be wasted, and now we'd end up paying more for Vit. With this move, Ressler can undercut Vit's maximum value, and offer him a decent low level contract. Someone cited the Bruno deal. That's the type of deal that Vit would get. 3 yrs / 10 million or 4 yrs / 16 million.
  18. People say this all the time. What does "take turns" mean? Initiating the offense? I personally don't see an issue with that, as long as the offense still functions properly. I think sometimes people see something as a negative, when it's actually an asset. The problem with this team is the frontcourt. And it's always has been the frontcourt. Even when Trae and DJ aren't on the same page, as a collective backcourt, they're still top 10 in the league, especially when you add Bogi to the mix. The frontcourt is bottom 20 in the league. Even when JJ is balling out, we're just a 10th - 20th frontcourt at best. We don't lose games because Trae and DJ aren't in sync. We lose games because our frontcourt isn't strong enough offensively and especially defensively, to win most games. Even in that last game. Trae had a horrible game with the turnovers, but was OK with his shooting. DJ was outstanding offensively. But we got blown out because the Pacers frontcourt destroyed our guys. And this is the case with 75% of the games we lost this season.
  19. Melancholy This has to be the first time that word has been used on Hawksquawk.
  20. Prediction: That may be the last time you see AJ on the court in a Hawks uniform.
  21. We played slow paced teams too. Hawks obviously can't get into a track meet with the Pacers.
