  1. It does, but only when you have 6 - 8 high level players you can count on. We're like a Spades hand. We have 2 and a possible we can count on. And that number ( and player ) varies from game to game. Quin needs to play 9+ players, in order to figure out which guys are going to provide that spark for the team. At that point, you can shorten the rotation in the 2nd half, in order to maximize the personnel grouping for that particular game.
  2. Instead of hoping that Trae and DJ score 60+ points and dish out 15+ assists, can we get our defensive guys to shine and pull out a game? Capela - do not let Vuc or Drummond kill you on the boards Bruno - same objective, but also provide that hustle energy on defense, leading to stops and takeaways. Hunter - limit Derozan to sub 42% shooting and stop him at the end of game
  3. If that player can play, he should definitely take time from some of these guys. We can't keep throwing this mediocre product out on the floor, and act like their position in the roster is untouchable.
  4. How many games have we lost to injury the past 3 seasons?
  5. If the Hawks want to sign him to a longer term deal w/o him become a RFA, then I see why they left Vit off the playoff roster. If we added him, but didn't get out of the play-in, what was the use in adding him? It would be wasted, and now we'd end up paying more for Vit. With this move, Ressler can undercut Vit's maximum value, and offer him a decent low level contract. Someone cited the Bruno deal. That's the type of deal that Vit would get. 3 yrs / 10 million or 4 yrs / 16 million.
  6. People say this all the time. What does "take turns" mean? Initiating the offense? I personally don't see an issue with that, as long as the offense still functions properly. I think sometimes people see something as a negative, when it's actually an asset. The problem with this team is the frontcourt. And it's always has been the frontcourt. Even when Trae and DJ aren't on the same page, as a collective backcourt, they're still top 10 in the league, especially when you add Bogi to the mix. The frontcourt is bottom 20 in the league. Even when JJ is balling out, we're just a 10th - 20th frontcourt at best. We don't lose games because Trae and DJ aren't in sync. We lose games because our frontcourt isn't strong enough offensively and especially defensively, to win most games. Even in that last game. Trae had a horrible game with the turnovers, but was OK with his shooting. DJ was outstanding offensively. But we got blown out because the Pacers frontcourt destroyed our guys. And this is the case with 75% of the games we lost this season.
  7. Melancholy This has to be the first time that word has been used on Hawksquawk.
  8. Prediction: That may be the last time you see AJ on the court in a Hawks uniform.
  9. We played slow paced teams too. Hawks obviously can't get into a track meet with the Pacers.
  10. Congrats Trae. If the organization does something idiotic, and trade you to San Antonio, you at least broke the assist record for the Hawks. Hopefully this tough game vs the Knicks, takes a lot out of the Bulls.
  11. Trae looking for the assists too much in the 3rd. Only 21 pts. Wonder if Quin will put him back in, and just preserve Doc and Trae at the top. Really no reason to put him back in.
  12. LOL Dre . . . wasn't even trying to give it up to Trae. He was shooting that shot hell or high water. Do you bruh. Do you.
  13. I can't argue this. This would be Edey's biggest worth in a game like this. Make the opposing center play defense and see if you can pick up fouls on him.
  14. No sir. But you have to coach from game to game. Certain matchups are horrible for certain people. At least Dre is getting to the line. If he stays aggressive like that, maybe he can get some of those frontcourt guys in foul trouble.
  15. Trae having a high turnover game, also sometimes mean that the other players aren't turning the ball over at all. Even in this game, Trae has 4 turnovers, but the team only has 6. He may finish with 6 turnovers, but if the team only has 10, that's overall a good thing.
  16. Dre is being played out of position. He plays more like a 2 / 3 than a 3 / 4. A game like this exposes Dre big time. I have no problem with him being a glue guy. But he's not even a factor on either end today. Playing Trae - DJ - Bogi - Hunter ( at the start of a game ), is dumb as hell. That's a lineup you play to close a game, when you're up a few points and need to score to close out a game. I know all of the injuries is dictating this. But this is part of the reason why Bench Dre has been a much better player than Starter Dre. Hawks would honestly be better off starting both Bruno and Mo G/Vit on the frontline, then let Dre come off the bench to see if he can be a force on offense, and go up against "weaker" bench players.
  17. This. Quin can't keep playing these all-offense lineups, and expect the defense to be fine. It's not. The backcourt is going to struggle defensively. We all know that. But the frontcourt can't be just as bad or worse defensively. Mo G's activity on the frontcourt is evident. Hopefully the Hawks can develop something out of him. This. 18. This has nothing to do with Trae. It's our frontcourt, and has always been our frontcourt. The Pacers frontcourt has dominated us this game. This is why you want Edey. He at least is a big body who can get some of those defensive rebounds. But in a game like this, Edey would be a complete liability with the Pacers 5-out offense. The Hawks need more athletes on the frontcourt. Mo G had very nice defensive activity when he was in the game. Bruno is struggling because he's used to guarding centers 18 feet and in . . . not 18 feet and out, like with Turner. And Mr Hunter as our PF . . . 1 rebound, and getting destroyed by Siakam. Hawks are getting outrebounded in this game 26 - 14.
  19. Get Dre involved on offense, so he'll be a little active on the other end.
