  1. 3 years 4.5 million. Keep in mind this is a guy like Crawford that is putting up numbers on a bad team on a team with no system. The Hawks the second half are basically a YMCA team. It's easy for players to look good.
  2. That's true. Billy Knight looks so smart now doesn't he? I expect the players to compete...But Billy Knight has failed to be any help.
  3. This guy got man handled by Darko....Doesn't sound like such a good defensive player to me Darko- 37 points 9 Rebounds 9 assist This guy... 2 points 4 rebounds What a loser.
  4. Trade the pick. The heck with this guy...Whatever his name is. Funny, the Hawks trade all their players to lose and can't even do that correctly. Shame Shame on the Hawks. THey can't do anything right.
  5. Wouldn't be a bad signing. But at 220 pounds I wouldn't start him at center. He'd be a good signing to go with Emeka. Swift at PF and Okafor at center.
  6. They played an uptempo style, thus gave up more points. The other team had more opportunities because the Kings wanted that way, it was their style. I think opp. FG% is more important than points allowed per game." Kings had the lower fg% last year than the Spurs? Are they are better defensive team?
  7. Well before the Bulls and Pistons, offense first teams were the only teams that won the title." That NBA is dead. Sad to say that....But that NBA is dead. " think if you put things into perspective... Had Webber not gotten injured last year, they would have run past the Spurs." It what series has Webber carried a team in the playoffs over another one? ALL he does is add more of the Kings scoring and doesn't help their flaw...Bad defense. "By that same token, if you believe that good defense should win, then Detroit ought to win it all!" The difference between Detroit and the SPurs is Tim Duncan and. You could pull Sheed and Ben Wallace and Detroit could challenge for the title with: Chauncy BIllups Rip Hamilton Tashaun Prince TIm Duncan Mehmet Okur That cast is atleast as good as the cast Duncan has in SA and probably better. But the Spurs are still the best defensive team anyway. Yes, I'm aware of Detroit's streak of holding teams under 70. However, they play in the east and they don't have the best player in the league. Defense and the best players when the Titles. As you see with Jordan,Pippen,Hakeem,Duncan,Shaq. The Kings don't have a good defensive team nor do they have a top 8 player in the league. Since the BUlls team not team without a top 5 player has won the title...Guess what...The Kings don't have one. Bottomline, defense and top 5 players. You always say I disregard anyone that isn't a top 8 player or so. Well guess what....They win the Titles almost everytime.
  8. and do you recall how their D was last year with a full year/continuity? One of the best in the league in terms of opp. fg%." Still gave up 95PPG. By your logic The Kings last year where a better defensive team than the Spurs because the other teams had a lower fg% againest the Kings(42%) than the Spurs(42.7%)but does that mean the Kings are a better defensive team? Addtionally, the Kings give up 98PPG on 46%fg this year. That is not going to win the championship. Webber can't shut down anyone because he's an average defender AT BEST. Vlade is 37 years old...Brad Miller is an offensive and not a defensive player. Peja is a blow average defensive player.
  9. ibby's no superstar, that's for certain...but you watch him in crunch time...and then you go on to say that they can't win a championship with him? Combined with Peja? Bibby's crunch play reminds me so much of March Madness, when the other dude steps up and knocks down game winners....he's clutch. And Peja's been all you can want this year. They have two legit all-stars in Peja and CWebb, two fantastic passing centers, a solid pg who can control the tempo and knock down clutch shots (though not the best "pg"), and an all-round sg who plays great d. Add in instant sparkplug off the bench in Jackson, and their athletic swingman in Wallace...yeah, they're championship quality. To say otherwise man...do you even watch them play? " One word DEFENSE. Have you guys not realized yet that offense first teams don't win titles? How many times do these times got to fail before you take notice? THe better question is have you watched the playoffs since the start of the 90's? THe Kings have no balls....Soft, weak, no defense, no leadership. They had one chance and they blew it. They wasn't going to win the title last year Webber or no Webber because he doesn't add defense to a team. He just adds another scorer. Tonight againest Suns was proof. THey can't get defensive stops. This was a big game for the Kings and they couldn't pull it out. They are not a championship team and they will not win one with the current team.
  10. Teams like Sac Town aren't going to win a title. That's the problem with building a team like them. They will win regular season games but not a title. They missed the only lucky chance they had at winning a title. You need a real superstar and that's not Chris Webber or Mike Bibby I'm afraid to say.
  11. Trade up or trade the pick. Seems like nobody in this draft even matters other than Howard/Smith/Okafor. I'd like to have Okafor most if he's a NBA center. But nobody else seems to matter in the draft so why draft any of those guys?
  12. Is it me or does this guy talk about the hawks over and over every game? I think it's easy to see he'd accept the job if it was offered to him. I wonder if he or Doc would both comeback with one of them being assistants.
  13. I think if healthy he has one more prime season and 2 or 3 extra good seasons....But since the Hawks are rebuilding one more prime year and two extra good years isn't enough to build your team around.
  14. Golden State would be stupid enough to fire Eric. They basically trade GS two best players for a passed his prime Robinson and a aging and banged up Van Exel. GS should be contracted from the NBA. Hire Mike instead of Rivers. Rivers would be the second choice. I just think Mike could be a tougher minded coach than Doc.
  15. Doesn't matter. The team will probably get something like the 6th pick and that really isn't worth alot since this is probably a weak draft. Probably end up with some guy that sat on the bench over in Europe as your hope for the future. I think the Clippers will knock the Hawks and move them down in the draft.
  16. Fan chases after Wally. "Washington Post: Just how safe are the players and officials in the NBA if a person is able to simply wander onto the court, have time to stand around, then chase a player down to the other end? This is what happened in Minnesota as the Timberwolves hosted the Washington Wizards last night. Luckily the fans' motive was not driven by violence, but with the world as it is today who would be willing to take that chance? In the final minutes of the Timberwolves win a female fan strayed onto the court in an attempt to get her hands on Minnesota's Wally Szczerbiak. Steve Wyche of the Washington Post says that Szczerbiak was clearly her target, but he was able to get away as play stopped with 54 seconds left and security came on the floor. Looking somewhat dazed, she strolled around the top of the lane at the basket where Minnesota was shooting. Stunned, players and game officials stood around, fixated on the woman, who, after looking around for a few seconds, seemingly bewildered with her tongue hanging out of her mouth, made a move for Szczerbiak, who took off running to the opposite end of the court. "I wasn't going to take a charge on that play," Szczerbiak said, smiling. "It's strange, man, I've never seen anything like that. I'm surprised it doesn't happen more often with the accessibility fans have to the court. I don't know what was going on with her. She seemed pretty spaced out. I needed to get out of there." Security eventually escorted the woman off the court, but it took several seconds for anyone to get a grip of what was going on. "I was guarding [Minnesota forward] Gary Trent over in the corner and I saw her coming on the court like she was trying to block his shot so I decided to move and let her contest it," Wizards forward Jared Jeffries joked. "She started running around in circles. That was wild. We needed a sixth person. She could have hopped out there and guarded somebody." It all might of ended innocently enough, but what if it didn't? What if one of the games elite - such as Kevin Garnett - was injured by an attacking fan upset over a call or a play or a personal performance which buried their team? In a world now full of uncertainty safety must come first, and that means keeping the fans in the stands. Last night's actions were a wake up call to ensure that this is enforced. Read Article"
  17. There was also no 3pt line so I'm sure players didn't try and bomb from deep anywhere as much as they do now.
  18. SHooting 41% is pretty bad.... Teams averaged over 100PPG and wasn't that before the shot clock was invented? There must have been bricks flying like crazy. I hightly doubt those days where close to being as good as the 80's are possibly worse than even now. Seems as though the only difference between then and now is that teams then shot alot at a low percentage teams now shot less at a low percentage.
  19. Pettit can be argued as being one of the best PFs in the history of the game. He played in a time when competition was better and he won a championship. " Wasn't Pettit a slow white dude? His team won a title with the team shooting 41%? Basketball must have really sucked back in this days. And we think it's bad now. I just can't picture a team shooting 41% and winning a title. Bob Cousy shot in the high 30's. That's just terrible.

  21. The point is I doubt many in Atlanta give a crap about Bob Pettit. THe thing about Pettit is that he must of be a pretty bad shooter to shoot like 42% most years. He was a PF wasn't he? That's a pretty low percentage for such a great PF.
  22. I don't think Nique make the list....But guys like Bill Walton has no business being on it.
  23. Howard looked really athletic...but his inside game left alot to be desired. It will take probably 2 years before he's a good player.
  24. Atlanta Spirit LLC names Hawks legend Dominique Wilkins Vice President - Basketball Atlanta Spirit LLC President and Chief Executive Officer Bernie Mullin announced today that the Atlanta Hawks have promoted team legend Dominique Wilkins to the position of Vice President-Basketball. Wilkins will report directly to Mullin and have multiple business and basketball positions with the club. The nine-time All-Pro will be responsible for advising the board of managers and senior management team on all basketball-related issues, working as a strong voice in the community, and serving as a member of the executive committee and the Hawks’ Free Agent Acquisition Committee. “Dominique Wilkins is the ultimate Hawks icon,” said Mullin. “He will be involved in many player personnel facets of our business as it relates to basketball, and help us re-connect with the fans who appreciated his contributions as a player. He will also assist us in bringing in new fans through his work with our community efforts and provide great leadership and expertise to our players. We are proud to place him in a significant position of leadership.” The most celebrated player to ever put on a Hawks uniform, Wilkins, who previously served as the team’s special assistant to the executive vice president and player development assistant, concluded his NBA career with 26,668 points. He is the eighth all-time leading scorer in league history and his 24.8 career scoring average is 11th on the all-time charts. Wilkins’ 23,292 points with the Hawks are the franchise’s best, and he ranks second overall in team history in steals (1,245), sixth in assists (2,322) and fifth in blocked shots (592). One of league’s true marquee players, his outstanding contributions on the court were recognized by the organization in January 2001 when he became the third player in club history to have his uniform number (#21) retired, joining Hawks legends Bob Pettit and Lou Hudson. “I look forward to working closely with Dominique on all basketball projects,” said Hawks’ General Manager Billy Knight. “He has been a great player for the Hawks and a valuable asset for the organization and will be invaluable in everything we do going forward. Dominique will be involved heavily on draft day, in our free agency planning and as a member of our free-agent acquisition committee, and in any trades or free agent signing we make in the future. This is a very positive move for the organization and will be beneficial for everyone.” Familiar to area sports fans from his collegiate days at the University of Georgia, Wilkins ended his Georgia career as the school’s all-time scoring leader with averages of 21.6 points to go along with his 7.5 rebounds. This Saturday night, the three-time All-SEC performer will be inducted into the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame. “I’m deeply appreciative of the confidence the Atlanta Spirit partners have shown in my abilities,” said Wilkins, “and I plan on doing everything I can to help restore this franchise’s reputation in the community and throughout the league. Everyone knows how strong I feel about the Hawks franchise and what it has meant to me, and I am totally committed to working just as hard as I did on a nightly basis on the court to help this organization succeed.” E" Thoughts??
  25. I'm glad he didnt get the teams...But it was kind of low at what Turner did to the guy. It was about like getting married and the bride saying no and walking out the door leaving you there shocked.
