The defense that the Hawks played was tremendous. Clint Capela controlled the paint and set the tone- 627 replies

Thank you! I was overthinking it.

Why has Toronto already clinched, but the Hawks haven’t?
-
But why hasn’t the Hawks not clinched a play in spot? What scenario could happen to knock them out?
-
How is Orlando still alive?

Why haven’t the Hawks clinched a playin spot yet?

He is not Desmond Bane, but he could have a similar impact.

It would be helpful if certain guards for the Hawks wouldn’t be freezing him out. Certain players know what they are doing. The forwards can’t pass and the guards are only looking for highlights most of the time. For this offense to click they need about 28 to 30 assists per game, not 23 to 24.

It was a long time ago,but the Nique trade keeps poppin in my head. What a sad day. JC ain't Nique but lets see what we got.

What is a small forward these days? Eric Gordon? Norm Powell? Half the players on that list are guards or play like guards. Most of them aren’t close to Hunters size.
-
Some people don’t appreciate the player until they are gone. For whatever reason Collins started off slow, but he is balling out lately.

The Hawks play street ball on offense and ymca on defense. They made Looney look like Rodman and let Thompson get one open look after another. Big O , Collins and Hunter played soft on defense and Nate trusts Boogie too much. What ever happened to subbing out for defense in late game situations? The Young, Boogie and hunter lineup will not rebound enough to close out a game. This roster is flawed, too many one way players.

Is a pro. In the doghouse but didn’t lose and ounce of confidence.

It’s more than coaching, players must be willing. This half has proven that a different way is possible.

Defense and rebounding until the shots start falling

We get decent defense with Dre and JC and a little scoring when they get touches.

I have faith that this team will figure out who they are. No major moves necessary yet. Coaching and execution needs improvement but I like the defensive potential and the shooting has to come around? My take may be simple minded and offers no detailed context but I like this roster better than last year’s roster. More defenders who are capable of making shots than shooters who can’t play defense. Nate and his staff have to get better at in game adjustments. If every player just shoots closer to their career averages then this team could be dangerous.

The Hawks made the Bucks look slow and smalller than in the past. The young bigs outplayed Lopez and Portis and slowed down the freak. These matchups look promising in the future. The real problem with the Bucks has been Holiday and Middleton.

Being out rebounded by 16 and only making 7 threes and still win? I will take that all day. That wouldn’t of worked last year and won’t work against the better teams unless the Hawks play elite defense, which they have the pieces to do in stretches.- 484 replies

He was actually sitting at the scores table with about 3 minutes to go,but their was no stoppage of play. Other than that the Hawks looked good on the court and coaching wise.

What if the Hawks get playoff version of Hunter? pg= Young sg= Murray sf= Hunter pf= Collins c= Capela great defensive potential, above average offense, should overtake the Heat?
-
The Hawks are a good to great offensive team, but on the defensive side of the ball they are pathetic. Every opposing team know that they are going to eat well when playing the Hawks. Better defenders are needed more than an secondary playmaker. Solomon Hill, Tony Snell, and Reddish[{last years version} are really what's missing and holding this team back. Capela has lost half a step due to injuries, but he is out there trying. Hunter and an Delon wright are solid Okongwu is young but that's about it. Young and Collins are my favorite Hawks, but they must pay better defense when healthy. The rest of the team is just offensive specialist or journeymen .
