There is talent in every draft.  There is certainly not talent that warrants upending your current team in every draft.  That's the part I balk at.  There's no Lebron coming, thus it's not worth blowing up the way many folks want.

Heh, he'll also never own up to it either.

Oh I wasn't implying that. It's just that there's a lot of group think when it comes to how much talent is in a draft.  You may very well find the next Jokic (really really really rare) in the second round of this draft class.

Here's my question.....if KAT is at $50M next year, how can the Hawks afford him?  They are already way over the CAP next year and now you add a net of $20-25M for next season?  How does that work?

    Moving DJ and Capela.

Next season DJ will make $25.5 million and Capela will make $22.3  = about $47.8 million

Next season KAT will make about $49.7 million.

Draft has no generational prospects either. Like 5 or 6 guys could go number one. There is virtually no benefit to tanking this year.

There is good talent. People always downplay certain drafts. There is generally one to three all NBA players in every draft.

I heard MIN is looking for a real but protected 2024 1st and one future unprotected 1st for KAT. Is what they were looking for. I was told, they were targeting sum-of-parts deals but Murray is someone they always coveted and been in talks with Atlanta and SA for Murray for years. I think KAT for Murray/Mills is a fair trade without the picks involved. Just my opinion. I always post the deal I know will get done. Never the best case deal. The best case for Atlanta is Murray/Mills for KAT. Best case for MIN is that same deal but getting what they were asking NY for initially which I posted in the first sentence. Ideally, Atlanta trades DJ/Mills and SAC 1st for KAT. Makes the most sense for everyone involved. Keeps MIN out of financial hell. Gets them a top 40 player and a top 10 PG who's in his prime and fits their window.

I would do Murray and Mills plus sac 1st and another protected first to get KAT in a heartbeat.

What Trae needs is a 1b or 2 fromtcourt player. KAT fits with our other young front court players perfectly offensively and defensively.

Probably won't happen, but if it does I will be a season ticket holder for the first time..lol

    Blockbuster!!!!!

I was told Atlanta is serious about KAT and if Minnesota wants to move him for less money for Murray and picks. This is basically the rumored deal. This would save MIN a lot of money.

I was told Minnesota doesn't want to trade KAT but will have to trade him due to the financial issues to maintain the current squad.

I was told NY and Minnesota have been in talks for KAT. Even reached out to Atlanta but Atlanta wants KAT even more and see him as a perfect fit next to JJ and Trae. Sorry, JJ, not OO.

I'd do this deal like yesterday!!!

  5. lol...nothing's probably going to happen

If it does, we are trading JJ, Bogi and filler for Siakam. That's how things work for the Hawks. Trade your best for trash and then next year wonder why you are floundering.

I'd rather stand pat than to do that JJ trade.

I literally just told you no. I haven't heard that Trae wants out. What I know is Trae puts pressure every year on the front office to built a contender and they try to do it. We are asset barren. Some of the guys we have targeted don't want to come to Atlanta. It's a massive risk trading for them. I see the writing on the wall. We don't have much leverage. We lost a lot because we made the Murray trade which was mainly driven by Trae and the Resslers who were driven by, Trae.

They are in a ferocious position. It's not looking good.

Blaming Tony is foolish. It would help the depth but we aren't much better than a couple spots up while he would lose 50-100 million in profit which will turn into losses. It just don't make sense and this team is just not anywhere close to contending. That's not gonna make Trae stay. Trae wants to contend. If Tony needs to be blamed for anything, it's listening to Trae about Murray.

Once we got Murray, he's been a class act here so I got no issues with him but the trade was an awful deal.

    Well, you better be prepared...

It's not Miles Bridges that's the issue, it's the fact that CHA don't want scraps for him. That's all.

    J. Issac for a protected 1st is a holy shit batman, overpay. We can't overpay for these guys either. They are worth more than scraps but they aren't exactly worth quality assets either.

You put that in a post while I was typing mine which is why I thanked your post addressing that point.

I believe we can get both those players and not be in the luxury tax. So you can do that and move up in the standings.

This is also what I warned you about in the off season when you were predicting great things for this team. I said they have shown us who they were, a .500 team, and until we see otherwise, that's what we should expect.

What we got that's gonna make Charlotte want to trade Miles Bridges?

    Same for J. Issac.

These teams don't want our scraps. We don't want their scraps when they come for guys like Bogi and Murray.

You want Trae not to demand a trade. Trae has threaten the organization every year to improve or he wants out. Now that this team is asset barren, you think Trae is gonna just have a change of heart and be like, you tried and failed and that's my fault, I am going to be loyal like Dame when that's never been Trae. Come on man, ya'll stan too much and you gonna be heart broken when he ask out.

I already know what's coming. That's why I am on already moved to the next phase.

I'm not stanning for anything and asked you a simple question.  Did you hear he wanted out? Now you are saying he's threatened to leave every year he's been here, but you've never said that previously.

I wouldn't blame Trae for requesting a trade if Toni continues to be weary of the luxury tax. Trae also has 2 years guaranteed and a player option. I'm assuming you're thinking he'll opt out.  I'm not here to argue with you about Trae because I know your  personal bias towards him because of some personal interactions.

I'm an Atlanta Hawks stan. If they trade Trae, I'd wish him well and hope for the best for us. I wouldn't even root for him anymore because I don't care about the NBA. I care about the Hawks. I barely watch any other games unless it impacts the Hawks in some way. To me the most detrimental thing to the Hawks is to trade Trae without him asking out.  That's why I'm like nah don't trade our best player. It's not because I'm a stan of Trae.

Now to address your other points. I know my Miles Bridges take isn't popular.  Miles Bridges has an image problem in Charlotte and most of the NBA due to the domestic violence situation and is on a one year deal and a UFA after this season.  He also has a pending court case in January or February.  I'm of the opinion that he won't be proven to be in violation of the original deal, but that's another story. What value could they get for him? He's a distressed asset if there ever was ever a distressed asset.  The Hawks wouldn't have to give up much to get him.

    J. Isaac is injury prone and barely getting 13 minutes a game in Orlando.  You can flip a protected first for him possible.

Of course teams could always ask for more. I'm saying these are reasonable ways to fix the team this year to address the biggest areas of weakness.

Come on bro. Seriously. No one wants to trade more than picks and meh mfers for Murray. We already know this. Look at what we traded for him. Picks and a meh mfer.

The solution to all the worries is to go get Miles Bridges to back up Hunter and get Jonathan Issac from the Magic.

That's a simple trade that gets the hawks better wing play and more defense.  They will probably be able to stay under the luxury tax with that move.

I think as long as the Hawks put a competent roster around Trae he won't demand a trade.  At this point, injuries have decimated us at SF and PF, the areas we lacked depth.  Fix that and I see the team taking off.

I should ask straight up, have you heard that Trae is planning on requesting a trade?  Is that why you are ready to get him off the roster?

To me, this just comes down the the Suns. If we can land Booker, that gives us a big two locked in for 4 more years. We can take silly swings and hope for home runs in that case. I already did a contender trade. This makes us and PHX contenders.

Sign Lundy, Forrest, and a vet center or Kai Jones and call it a day. We stay under the LT for this year and Tony finally gotta pay the LT if it works and doesn't if it don't.

    fanspo-nba-trade-machine-snap_12-26-2023_9-00-56AM.png

Why are you so against trading Murray for Booker? Seems like you just want to get Trae off the team.

That would make much more sense.  Trade whatever you want to get Booker and Trae together.

Edit:  Also by your Logic, why would anybody give us anything of value for Trae if he can opt out in two years and demand a trade from that team?

I don't think Trae is nearly as frustrated as the fan base.  Trae knows that it's a long season.  I don't fear Trae requesting a trade any time soon.  But this roster needs upgrading, and soon.  The front office tends to fall in love with players and don't want to pull the trigger for better fitting players.  Our frontcourt is our biggest deficiency.  That's where the upgrades need to happen.

He absolutely will if they keep letting talent go to avoid the luxury tax. We need more depth and another star player.

  11. At this point I expect them to lose when someone is missing. I'm just tuning in to watch the greatness of Trae and Bogi was special in the first half.

Tony better spend some money cause if Trae keeps this type of play up and keeps losing, he will request a trade.

Today wasn't Traes best game, but considering the torture house Miami has been from him, it was great progress.

We will probably lose tomorrow if Hunter doesn't play. ☹

  12. Yeah, I just don't understand why Quin insists on playing small against a team like Cleveland.

All I know is this team doesn't seem to have hustle to it. It's been that way for a while.

Everybody but Trae and JJ can be traded as far as I'm concerned. I haven't been posting a lot because I'm VERY negative on this team right now.

Is Bridges criminal case settled now?

Depends which case you are talking about.  But the last I've seen, he still has one open case with a hearing scheduled for February so seems a risk that is very much still alive but that the NBA's suspension has ended pending new developments.  Presumably, if he gets convicted on the open case he will miss more time.

I did some digging around on Miles Bridges to see why the NBA is allowing him to play.

Something just wasn't sitting right with me.

The post below details out the timeline of the incidents.

    https://www.cbssports.com/nba/news/miles-bridges-domestic-violence-case-timeline-charges-sentencing-suspension-information-for-hornets-forward/

    Quote

During his three-year probation, Bridges, 24, will be required to complete 52 weeks of domestic violence counseling and 52 weeks of parenting classes, serve 100 hours of community service and undergo weekly narcotics testing with marijuana allowed only if there is a valid doctor's prescription. He cannot own any guns, ammunition or any weapons. He also will have to pay a restitution fine of $300 (with a restitution hearing scheduled for Jan. 13) and a domestic violence fine of $500 and obey the terms of a 10-year protective order, staying 100 yards away from and having no contact with the woman. Bridges and the woman maintain custody over their two children, and any visitation or exchange of children must be done peacefully and through a neutral third party.

See the highlighted above.  He's supposed to stay away from his ex and exchange their kids through a neutral third party. So him and his ex shouldn't have any contact with each other.

    https://www.cbssports.com/nba/news/miles-bridges-surrenders-after-warrant-issued-for-alleged-violation-of-protective-order/

    Quote

Separately, on Wednesday, a criminal summons was issued for Bridges for another alleged violation of the protective order, according to Mecklenburg County court records. Bridges is also charged with child abuse and injury to personal property, as he allegedly threatened his ex and damaged her car while their children were in the car. Bridges allegedly threw pool balls at the car, smashing the windshield and denting the windows. His current girlfriend allegedly kicked the car.

So Bridges allegedly threw pool balls at his ex's car while exchanging the kids?  Who was the neutral third party to drop off the kids? Was it Bridges current girlfriend? I wouldn't think so.  Why is the new girlfriend kicking the car?  Why show up without the neutral third party?  These are all legitimate questions that need to be answered.

I was unaware that Bridges had taken out a restraining order on his ex.

    https://www.tmz.com/2022/11/08/miles-bridges-files-restraining-order-from-domestic-violence-accuser/

    Quote

On Nov. 5 -- two days after Bridges pleaded no contest to one count of felony domestic violence stemming from their June 27 incident to close out his criminal case -- the 24-year-old former Charlotte Hornets star said he was forced to call the LAPD after Johnson showed up to his Airbnb and "stood outside the home antagonizing me and refusing to leave."

Bridges says officers showed up ... and were able to convince her to leave without incident.

Bridges -- currently an NBA free agent -- is asking a judge to order Johnson to stay at least 100 yards away from him and have no contact with him or his dog.

This just seems like a toxic relationship gone wrong.  Seems like the NBA has some evidence that yes, Bridges did hit her, which is abhorrant. It seems like there is more to the story than Bridges beats the hell out of his wife.  Pleads no contest and then throws golf balls at her.

I'll say if the legal system plays out and he's not found guilty of the new allegations, I'm fine with the Hawks taking a flier on him.
