It is getting a little hard to read the game day threads because certain posters are so clearly enjoying the Hawks losing games. I don't want to give the mods extra work by going down that route but you know who you are.

Blame Ressler for the mess we are in. Traded two starters in back to back offseasons just to save money. Refused to use a 25 million dollar TPE to bring in talent. Refused to use any of the MLE to bring in talent.

This is the result of an owner too cheap to pay the LT. This team was built to work a certain way with normal NBA depth on the roster. We don't have that and as a result the team is losing games and is not a playoff team.

This is 100% on Tony Ressler. Messy Ressy indeed. Don't blame the FO or Quin or Trae or DJ or whoever else you want to blame. Blame the SEVENTH RICHEST OWNER in the NBA that won't pay money to even compete.

At this point, I'm okay with this team losing. They need to try and get the number 1 pick. This roster isn't going anywhere. Might as well draft Cody Williams and go after KAT in the off season.

I've never seen a team not give a f**k on defense the way this team does. It's really terrible scoring 140+ and consistently losing.

I’d give up a squawkers pinky toe for Mikal!

Just thought about it. I'm referring to Miles Bridges with Charlotte.  I don't think he'll get convicted of violation of his parole in his next court case from the bit of articles I've read.

He will be cheap and he's productive!

I do know about the domestic violence stuff, but it seems like there's more there if you read up on the actions of his ex. Not excusing it, just saying seems like he was in a toxic relationship with both of them abusing each other.

Trae's already a villain let's do it, new bad boys.  Also looking at Marcus Smart, Draymond, and Dillon.  It's time.

Difference is Mikal's nothing like the other three on the court.

What’s everyone’s thoughts on trading for Miles Bridges to replace Hunter at SF ?

I'd do it.  I posted my thoughts on him and the arrest situation earlier in the thread somewhere.

    Sourced:

Lakers are the leaders in the clubhouse for DJM followed by the Knicks. Brooklyn might be the third team involved for D LO with hawks getting Dinshittie expiring which funny enough they might also move to a fourth team for a different player and expiring...

    Unsourced:

Wouldn't shock me if they combine all these picks and assets into Zion in the summer.

    All of that is shitty.

Also, I'd take everything with the Lakers or any other big market team with a grain of salt.

It does not seem to make sense to send Murray out before the trade deadline unless they have already agreed to framework to trade for a "star" player in the offseason.

    Yep.

For Minny and Atlanta, the best time to trade for KAT is during the draft. It's bad to break up the team now for Minny and it will still count under 2024.

While this trade kinda sucks for us as we want to keep OO no matter what. This is The most ideal for Minnesota. Atlanta would rather move Dre or Capela instead by a mile.

I don't think Minne would want OO with Dejounte if they are trying to get out the second Apron and fill out their roster.  OO will be at $14 million and Murray at about $26 million next season.

are we willing to put all our eggs in that one basket though? then he ends up in NYK?

I hope so. What can NY offer that fits the Minnesota roster better than Murray AND provides the cost savings they may need?

If it's all about being under the 1st apron. This would be their best route. This would allow you to give Mike Conley the full MLE.

I haven't figured out picks, but I believe Minne will want some expirings and picks.  Patti, Murray and Saddiq gives Minne the most flexibility.  Not saying the above is the trade from other teams, just the Hawks to Minne part.

Makes me feel like Minny already told ATL they need expirings and picks for KAT in the offseason.  It would make sense to send them OO, bunch of picks, and expiring salaries to help them with cap flexibility.  But maybe Im giving our FO too much credit thinking ahead like that

I think it'll make more sense to send them Murray, Bey, and Mills and some picks. One from a Capela trade if possible.

Trading Murray for KAT would have solved issues for both teams but that would have to wait until the offseason. Team is more interested I think in moving DJM now than later. I do think the idea is tank the rest of this season because we have a window for it and then use assets to upgrade the roster in the offseason.

That would be ideal, if you ask me.

  8. Man, reading through this thread today has been an experience to say the least.  We do have assets, although middling.

Two draft picks this year.  The pick swap in 2026 with San Antonio doesn't bother me too much either.  It's not the end of the world.  We can make some trades to get some first round picks for 2025 and 2026 potentially. They won't be unprotected like our front office did, but first round picks are much more valuable with the new CBA.

I honestly don't know how to fix this team.  If the Hawks could some how get a competent big on both ends in one of these trades, that'll go along way with helping them.   Also need some defensive talent in every position.

They won't do this but I would honestly ask the Spurs about a Trae trade instead of DJM trade. Get all our picks back plus some of the ones they own. Do a true rebuild with JJ sticking on the team.

Again, this isn't going to happen but it is what I would do. We've had six seasons to build a team around Trae and between Ressler's interference in basketball operations and refusal to pay the luxury tax look at what we have to show for it.

I am still not sure why we didn't at least top 3 protect all those picks. Idiotic behavior by our ownership group who wanted another star around Trae to appease him

Looks like Traes still bought in, but maybe yall are hearing otherwise.

    If I am the Hawks

    9. I'll take Reed Sheppard. If he's on the board, I'm taking him at 1 or anywhere.

If you ask me who's the superstar in this class in 4-5 years, it's easy. It's Reed. He's gonna need some time. I don't think he's someone you just throw into the starting 5 day 1 but he will be a starter sooner than later and he can fit our scheme with Quin. https://tankathon.com/players/compare?players=reed-sheppard--stephen-curry--trae-young--tyler-herro

    24. Terrance Shannon Jr. - Highly productive, good player, comparable with Josh Hart https://tankathon.com/players/compare?players=terrence-shannon-jr--josh-hart--quentin-grimes

    51. Zvonimir Ivisic - Diesel's guy.

I don't see guys who are perfect fits for us. I like Zaccharie Risacher a lot. I think he might be a great fit for us. Especially at the 2 long term. I'll probably go the best player available with upside like we did last year for this scheme. Reed is just special long-term.

I'll probably shoot a flyer to Ryan Kalkbrenner

If I'm the Hawks, I'm taking Cody Williams.  I see a very good player there. I haven't looked into Reed Sheppard too much yet, but will watch some scouting videos of him.

My guy is Cody Williams.  6'8" offensive and defensive upside. Ballhandling!  That's the type of guy the Hawks need.  You are correct he's a few years away because his frame needs a lot of work, but once he gets it, I think he'll fit perfectly with the team.

They need to find a big 7 footer somewhere though.

This would be a great outcome for Atlanta.  All their picks back and 26 swap back plus a Vassell homecoming for Murray.

Send them Mills back too for Graham/Cedi

That will never happen. I wish it did though.

What if we just reverse the trade? Send him to San Antonio for our picks/pick swap back. Would yall be OK with that?

Sure if they send Devin Vassell back with them...lol
