  1. Cmon Diesel... Shaq left a "better" team because Kobe wasn't Kobe, he was playing behind Eddie Jones (with half as many minutes), they were coached by Del Harris, and Van Exel was running the point. We'd have to make massive changes and someone like AJ would need a historic breakout for that equivalency to hold. Nowhere did I say or imply that he's not a great player or a great fit with Trae. My contention is that by himself, he's not going to instantly put us over the top. He's not doing that now with a better team and it will be that much harder if we gut our team for him. None of this means I don't want him.
  2. Exactly. There's a lot to like about Jaylen Brown and I really like him too. However, a lot of people are in love with his game in a vacuum and are ignoring the bigger picture. He's already on a team with a better offense, better defense, better veteran depth, and a consensus top 10 All-NBA player...and they needed 7 games to get to the ECF's that they're about to get swept in. He's not going to make us magically better and certainly not if we gut the team to get him...if this is even a thing.
  3. 1. Harden leaves Philly 2. Embiid wants out, Philly resets the process as soon as their demands are met 3. Dame goes nowhere 4. Jaylen Brown goes nowhere 5. CP3 goes nowhere, but Ayton is moved 6. Giannis goes nowhere, but bucks begin resetting 7. Capela is moved, JC stays, and Atlanta holds onto/retains all of its most coveted assets to "run it back" with Quin. We stay the course until whichever flexible date allows for deals to be made after a fair evaluation of the team under Snyder (IE the 203/24, ~25 game challenge).
  4. I'm glad it's the Spurs. I would have put him there or Portland... I think I voted San Antonio in a poll somewhere? Here...? Anyway, it's also (*wink*wink*nod) highly sus to me personally, but it's whatevs...lol #tinfoilhat
  5. I don't know if it's unpopular, because a lot of people are selling on Collins if for nothing but to get out from under his salary. I think it's a HUGE mistake and we'd make some team extremely happy - and dangerous considering they won't be giving up much for him. Some might consider your Randle opinion unpopular, but I think it's reasonable. I'm a long time Lakers fan and have followed Randle since he was a rookie. He's a good player in a role that expects too much out of him. He's a 3rd option floor spacer like JC, but much more capable of creating his own shot. I don't consider this a bad trade, I just prefer the Collins fit. ...and there it is. There is one holdover from the days of WLOC and debating the "Detroit Model." That is, we are still of that "incremental" mindset. We're fans of trimming the edge fat and experimenting with ancillary moves. Careful not to move too quickly... Guarding our most prized sacred cows... Clutching our pearls so close and for so long... Until they no longer have any "potential" value. I'm not a fan of that. It's a hard concept for some people to process, but trading a player isn't always about whether or not we value them. It's about whether or not we are where we need to be and if not, what talent will it take get us to the next level? Three things to consider: We are going to get what we give. Player potential has an expiration date. We have a surplus of duplicate, young, front court talent.
  6. This is what I mean though...and you have to forgive me, because I'm a lazy poster. I hate digging up stats unless I REALLY need to make a point to someone who isn't otherwise seeing the obvious. In the case of JC, it's just obvious to me - we've only been talking about the JC/Cap fit for a couple of years now.
  7. I don't think it's Snyder's scheme. I think it's a duplication of talent with Capela. The two together are killing our spacing. Much as I hate it, I finally have to concede to all the people screaming "the game has changed!" It has and Nate showed me that these last couple of seasons. Bigs have to shoot and if you have one that can't, then you need another that absolutely CAN. This does not describe JC and Cap. It doesn't describe JC and OO either but that's another story.
  8. Yeah dude. My reason is JC. lol Straight, no chaser. I prefer Collins to Randle. I prefer JC's chemistry and production with Trae over Randle's potential chemistry and production with Capela.
  9. But...I don't tho? LOL Collins is a keeper for me.
  10. Well for one, I said I would rather have John Collins so.... that should say something? Secondly, I'm only talking about the way Randle plays, not the quality of his production in the clutch. He's doesn't need to operate in Clint's space and Clint doesn't operate his his space. Next to Trae and DJM, he also wouldn't have nearly the pressure he has in NY. I do like his game, but I'm not trying to swap JC for him.
  11. Bro WHAT!?!?! YES! DO IT! FORK YEAH DO IT! Hol'up... *wipes nose* Freakin' yeah man like...hol'up a sec *snnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnif* Couple of firsts, DanJanjelo Russell, an'...an' um...what's he um..? R-Roy...? Ru..Rudy...? Rudy Hachimoto somethin'? Like *clears nose* Yeah, run that ish bro. RUN IT!!!!!!!!! RUN IT!!!!!!!!! RUN IT!!!!!!!!!
  12. I'm just gonna say it: I like John Collins. He's the guy I want to keep in the front court ideally paired with a center that can move out of the post and allow Collins to pick up where he left off before we acquired Capela. I've followed Randle for a long time and I like him. Randle is what Capela needs the way a good stretch-5 is what Collins needs. I would just rather keep JC and find him the right front court compliment. I'm team JC and I really don't care how anybody else feels about it.
  13. "Play defense and the offense will take care of itself. The sh!t works." Josh was a knucklehead for sure, but Woodson's complete disregard for the offense was a complete enabler for him. I will always wonder how Josh would have grown with a better coach and system. With his size and athleticism, and had he put in the work, he would be a viable post threat. Also, his passing was overlooked and underutilized: The Josh we know would have been traded by midseason because he and Trae would have been like oil and water. BUT, if he had a coach like Quin and was receptive, I believe he would have been an amazing fit next to Trae. With shooters and a good system, he'd be a solid 20/10 with triple-double potential. PS - Mike Woodson is the spokesperson for all you people that think playing defense is the only thing that matters.
  14. This just makes sense and many of us have been expecting it for some time now...while holding out hope that they could somehow make it work. Clint and JC are such good guys to have on a team, but sadly it's just not ideal to pair them in a starting lineup.
  15. So, everyone has their favorite players and their standards... Some people feel that specific players don't get enough credit or recognition for what they do. For me, that player was Rip Hamilton when he played and to this day, I'll argue with people all day about how underrated he is. Supes isn't really any different in that regard, except how highly he rates Horford.
  16. 1. Convincing Themselves the Roster is Fine Agreed. It's never ok to sit on your hands. Some form of change is always going to happen, even if it's only minor/incremental. A first round loss though...means we have work to do with this roster. 2. Not Trading John Collins Neutral. I am a Collins fan and there is only one thing more pressing than getting decent shooters around Trae. That is cleaning up our front court. Period. We can't hope, year after year that somehow Collins/Capela is going to work. They are both really good guys and outstanding supporting players in their own right. I hate it, but they are not the ideal fit together - now throw OO in there for more rim-running, non-stretch, redundancy. This. Must. Be. Solved. 3. Fracturing the Quin Snyder and Trae Young Relationship Agreed. This is a given and if I'm 100% honest, this is on Trae. We know Snyder can coach and we know what this team needs to compete. As long as we have the coach and the supporting players around him, it's up to Trae to buy in. It's a partnership for sure, but Quin is good and he was brought here for a reason. We have to "let him cook" as the kids say today. 4. Breaking up Trae Young and Dejounte Murray Neutral. Murray can't be our 1B starting SG and shoot 34% from 3. We need player movement, ball movement, and Murray must improve his 3 point shooting for them to work. They are not a great fit if we create the same kind of problem our front court has. Murray and Trae need better synergy and it starts with his shot. 5. Not Acquiring Defensive-Minded Free Agents Disagree. We have to stop crying about defense. Yeah. We get it. Teams have to play good defense. We need to be focused on our commitment to playing better defense. A narrowly focused search for defensive minded free agents isn't a priority. This is just a holdover from our days without a star trying to figure out "the one thing" that's going to make us a contenders. It's not just defense. It's not just offense. It's not just coaching. It's not just bench depth. It's a mixture of these things combined with a core of All-NBA caliber talent operating at peak efficiency.
  17. Yeah, I've been quietly eyeballing him for awhile now as well. I'm a little worried about his injury history and what his salary would look like given a successful stint with us, but I'm on board.
  18. I'm all for player freedom and power, but there needs to be a balance with the teams and fanbase. The "team up" trend is cheap and it removes all of the hard work that goes into scouting, player development, chemistry building, etc. Worse is that guys like LeBron don't care about the process or competition. They JUST want the ring.
  19. I say it again....I will die on the AJ Griffin hill... LOL. Even if ultimately he's peaks at just a decent 3&D, I'd rather stay with him and take the chance that he might be special.
