  1. I'd take our situation 10 times out of 10 over the Suns who are balls deep into the tax with a complete albatross contract with a NTC in Beal (who is completely redundant with Booker), and an over the hill KD. And they do not have any of their own picks until the next decade lol... Our season was disappointing but getting swept in the first round and having no control over your future with that chemistry-less roster would be depressing.
  2. Yep, the guy cannot stay in shape to save his life, which is why he plays a tired, flustered, foul-baiting, dirty game in the playoffs
  3. I'll be surprised if he gets a max deal. Teams are not giving those out like candy anymore, given the new CBA and the implications of going above the apron. Any GM watching the playoffs right now can just look to that $50M performance by Bradley Beal last night to see why it's not a good idea to reward high usage mediocrity.
  4. Right, that's an enticing deal but CJ is just bad salary and Herb, while a great POA defender, cannot do much on offense. Not even close to equitable for Trae Young, particularly when you consider you're about to pair him with Zion. You saw Herb's limitations in the post season as he struggles to create for himself or others (like 2 assists : 3 turnovers per game) and is mostly a spot up shooter. Maybe if you do a Griffin/Murphy III swap as well it's fair value. Or let us dump Clint over for Vuc or Nance. HAs to be something more
  5. Bogi Bogi Dre Bogi has intangibles that few on our squad have— super competitive, loves big moments, plays aggressive, and can shoot. Dre has none of the above but he can play in a lot of different lineups and serves an important role thats hard to find. Wish he played aggressive but thats just not who he is— guy can barely pull down 2-3 boards a game CC has no role on our team at his price and lack of skillset. Trae cant even help him anymore as he has brick hands and has declined hard and fast..
  6. I dont really think Ingram is gonna get a 35% of the cap max deal so i disagree with the premise, but making the trade would probably still be worth it to give the team a year run with him. Whole roster would fit significantly better and we would have more options how to move forward. This team is not one DJ trade from being a contender so we gotta make positive incremental steps to build one. This would be in the right direction
  7. Its a question that is interpreted as “players i dont like”. Jordan Poole is on the list and no one rates that guy in the top 100 lol
  8. Take away the pick swaps and i don’t hate it
  9. Those conversations will start this summer, though. So it makes sense why he would be starting to change his representation today.
  10. I think this is true for the elite stars in the league (Lebron, Steph, Jokic, etc.) that can get whatever they want, but my guess is the next contract negotiation with Trae could be a little sticky. Giving him a super max 35% of the cap is pretty crippling to roster building for a player that has so many specific roster needs around him (shooting, length, defensive anchor, defensive wings...). I wouldn't be surprised if he gets less than a max length max contract deal (with a player option in year 5). If he does get that, I'll know the Hawks aren't serious about winning and just want to sell tickets through the centennial yards project someone here has brought up a few times.
  11. Is this for all games or just games both DJ and Trae played? Cus obviously DJ gonna be in more lineups as he played 2783 minutes to traes 1942....
  12. You cannot say this with any confidence whatsoever; all these franchises' financials are private.
  13. Imo Quin starting CC has more to do how useless CC is with the bench unit. He cannot do anything on offense without Trae spoon feeding him buckets, which he fumbles half the time anyways. IMO CC is basically an extension of Trae on the floor so they have to share minutes, and OO not starting has way more to do than CC's flaws than his own ability.
  14. OO has been adding range to his offensive game every year, he's switchable on defense, he has excellent defensive instincts, and he seems to want to be here -- why the hell would you guys want to trade him? Everyone here constantly clamors for a stretch 5 and as soon as we have one that almost developed, we want to trade him? Not to mention he's elite finishing around the rim, which should not be underrated for a center starting with Trae. All of the above does not even speak to the fact we have him on a ~$15M/year contract. He will very likely be one of the best value centers in the league in the next 3 years. Who would you guys rather have at center for $15M or less? Holmes? Zubac? Wagner? Adams? There is no one. Also, OO didn't get to play in the physical defense second half of the season where he would have been thriving. Selling on him now would be a huge blunder.
  15. I agree with you. It makes sense for them to shop Trae around in either case. If they are actually considering trading him, you have to see what kind of value you can get back. If you want to trade Murray, it's helpful to drive a narrative that you'd rather keep him, to make sure you're getting other teams' best offers. I'm guessing we will keep Trae and get what we get for Murray, but I do genuinely believe there's a possibility we move forward without Trae.
  16. Why would I push for Trae to get traded lol. I'm simply looking at the evidence that keeps coming in... I don't have strong feelings one way or the other with a slight preference to keep Trae.
  17. As this is worded, it has to be posturing. There is no better fit with Wemby than Trae Young... I could see the Spurs FO not wanting Trae for other reasons as he's not your typical Spur culture type of player, but to say they see DJ as a fit more than Trae is wild.
  18. He has sources lol he's not writing fan fic
  19. Another source that thinks were more likely to trade Trae.
  20. I think we already have made the major moves to turn things around, even though we didn't see it in the results this year. I never expected the team to adopt Quin's system smoothly and effectively in the first season -- it took Utah a while for the core players to get chemistry and perform well. The coaching staff we have is very good and we have a great development program in place in College Park. The only thing we have dragging us are some nasty contracts Schlenk extended (unforced errors imo) in Capela and Hunter. Once we unwind the DJ trade, we will be on a good path. Landry has been signing reasonable, if not team friendly, extensions, and he's been making prudent moves. I think we're on a good path for the next 1-3 years.
  21. Snyder is the most influential person in our org right now in terms of roster decisions and the reports coming out are that Trae is being shopped to assess his value. You don't need to rely on that article to know that Snyder is not all-in on Trae as the future centerpiece.
  22. Yes, I know, most here pick and choose the credibility of the article based on how much they agree with what is written. Not exactly a unique phenomenon to HawkSquawk, but that is clearly what happens here. It's actually very intuitive and how thing always work in the professional world. People serve their own interest and being openly negative about someone serves zero self-interest. Being openly positive about someone, particularly a teammate, is very much aligned with self-interest. The crazy thing is quoting a current teammate as a solid source of "is Trae is a good teammate" lol... only an unhinged toxic locker room guy would trash a current teammate. Just imagine if you were asked publicly about a coworker and if they were good or not -- most people are going to answer positively in a very public forum regardless of how they feel about the person.
  23. Heurter complained about Trae (in his own diplomatic way) not sharing the ball, playing selfishly. He was very positive about Collins in the same podcast so the disparity in his messaging on each of them was very clear. I think this was on Zach Lowe's pod but I cannot remember.
  24. "Starting with the locker room, it's no secret there's a serious disconnect between Young, the team's star player, and many -- though some say nearly all -- of his teammates. He is not beloved, sources say, and there's a strong view that Young fails to lead, to understand or care to understand what is required of him, and that as a result the team will never achieve what it should until that reality is fixed." Here is a sourced article from a year ago, if that is what you're asking for.
