This would also allow us to play more with OO/CC together which we can’t do now because of the lack of other front court depth.

I’ve said it before and will say it again. We don’t need to blow it up and don’t need another superstar. JJ has grown into that role beautifully. We need wing depth at the 2/3 and another big man. I’d give up a first for someone like Andre Drummond at this point.

Official Game Thread: NBA Team at Warriors

The team’s body language is awful and it’s not a sign of confidence for Quin IMO. At this point it’s time for everybody not named Trae or Jalen to go.- 56 replies

Official Game Thread: NBA Team at Warriors

Funny how our defense is even terrible when Trae is out but somehow he gets all the blame for our defense. And there are people who want to watch us do THIS every night with DJ as the point guard?- 56 replies

At this point I’m taking every rumor, including those reported by resident insiders, with a grain of salt. Not to question anyone’s integrity, but anyone who knows anything knows that everything that’s said openly in a negotiation is part of the power play. This thread is nearly 400 pages long of pure speculation and rumors and not one, to date, has come to fruition. According to the media been sellers at the deadline for the last several seasons with us getting fleeced in nearly every deal and have done nothing. Made zero moves. We’ve had deals agreed to in principle that fell apart at the last moment (allegedly). Only the people in the room know for sure but unless we are pressing a hard reset, there hasn’t been one deal discussed here involving DJ (or Capela for that matter) that makes us better in either the short OR long term. If our plan is to compete, we don’t need more youth and draft picks from playoff caliber teams aren’t going to translate, especially in a market where there are no legitimate game changers available. In that market, you tinker, not overhaul.

At this point I just want Hunter gone. I’d trade him for bench depth at this point.

Kuminga unhappy in Golden State. I’d ship them Hunter for him straight up if the rules allowed lol

I honestly had doubts about JJ at the 3 but he’s been sensational these last few games.

Most of these games come down to just a handful of stops. Forrest was huge tonight

He is also the anti-Collins

I’ve been too busy to post this tonight but just dropped in to say Jalen Johnson is the anti-Hunter

No. It’s bad rebounding. Capela had moments but got his lunch taken tonight overall.

I disagree. This has been a good defensive effort but Chicago’s glue guys have created too many extra possessions

Really appreciate Trae’s defensive effort this year. He’s not ever going to get bigger but he has been a pest.

All of these half assed trades being proposed are centered around the idea that 1, Atlanta is desperate to make any deal and 2, Trae is the problem. And that getting rid of Trae solve our defensive issues negating the fact that it also takes away our biggest offensive advantage. This year he also hasn’t even been our biggest defensive liability but some of us don’t want to see that. Two Steps forward, three steps back.

The problem with hero ball and superstar roster acquisitions is how it deprives you of depth. A la Phoenix now. I’ll say it again, SCORING IS NOT OUR ISSUE. Trae raises the offensive floor of any team and we are already top 3 offense and doing it without a dearth of shooters on the wing. Any trade that does not increase our interior defense or length and shooting on the wings does not make us better and there are trades out there to be had to increase both of those things without giving up any one of our core players to do it.

Phoenix isn’t trading Booker. Please stop spamming the board with nonsense

Garrison isn’t an NBA level rotation player under any circumstance unless you are the tanking Rockets.
-
A couple guys I’d be interested in taking a flyer on for cheap that I think would add value to this team Wings - Jalen McDaniels, for our trade exemption and a pair of seconds (not currently in the rotation in Toronto); Robert Covington (has beeen mentioned here); Reggie Bullock (at least can still hit a shot unlike Wes); Jeremiah Robinson-Earl (projection based on advanced stats). Bigs - Nic Claxton (I’d give up Capela for him straight up given he is about to be an expiring. Maybe throw in a FRP

JC’s only mistake is being a player who doesn’t fit the modern NBA. Ten years ago when the league was dominated by legit 4s he would be the hottest thing smoking
-
Or that NY would want Dre over Josh Hart who is Brunson’s boy

I don’t disagree that we don’t want to lose Trae for nothing but the easiest way to keep him is to build a team around him NOW that can compete. The problem is, that scenario you just proposed isn’t a calculated risk at all, just all risk.
