  1. I heard 3D make a comment on the radio that Marvin might grow an inch or two, and when his body fills out could become a Chris Webber type 4.
  2. We have a wanna be GM talking to A Smoove fan, neither one Hawks fans.
  3. I'm surprised that know it alls actually feign humility.
  4. You're still evading. I mean guys that can play, just that. You can go through every roster, just find me a half dozen, enough for 6 teams in the league. I mean legit quality starting NBA centers at 7 feet tall. I'll help, start with Shaq and Yao, go from there. The point is that a 6'10 center is fine provided the guy can play some interior D. isn't Zo 6'10? if we had Zo as our starting center we'd be in good shape.
  5. I agree ex, they have to honor that shot, and that will open up things for Smoove. I think Marvin has a better chance at taking 3s off the dribble, he came into the league at a younger age than Smoove already handling the ball a lot better than Smoove, also he already has the J which Smoove developed this year...I see no problem at all with Smoove and Marvin playing together at the same time.
  6. You evaded the most important questions. How many 7 footers in the league can play? As far as I know 6'10 is about as close as some can get. The league is changing Walter you seem to be locked into some sort of early 90s conception of the league.
  7. Walter tell me how many 7 footers in this league can actually play at the 5? 6'10 is about as close as some can get. Tell me who is 7 feet tall on the Phoenix Suns that can start for them.
  8. if Marvin was doing well you would say it is because the games mean nothing. And Marvin is doing well, in his role. It means nothing because the games mean nothing. Smoove on the other hand is finding himself, and it means something.
  9. At least Boozer tried to play D and can. Al doesn't even try.
  10. We need interior defense much more badly than interior scoring.
  11. I still envision plenty of time for Marvin and Smoove, if we drafted Aldridge it would not be for PF, it would be for C. This team needs big guys that can play the 5 more than anything else.
  12. I was alluding to Diesel's imagining that Al is actually our post player, when he actually isn't, he is another perimeter player, he is like Sheed minus D, which is a pretty flawed player if you ask me, because you're right, Sheed takes too many perimeter shots. Diesel keeps insinuating that we are screwed if Al leaves. It is a fantasy of his that Al is an indispensable player for us.
  13. I like having a PF who can do more than score in the post. What position does Rasheed play for the Pistons? Does Rasheed like to score in the post, and CAN Ben score in the post? Its not important. I'm thrilled that JSmoove, our future PF , can score from the perimeter, as Marvin can from the SF position. They will start together at some point next year, for a lot of games. Probably even the beginning of the season. I hope that both Marvin and Jsmoove learn post moves, as it could be useful, but we don't need Al for that in the meantime. You only want Al here so you don't have to eat words on Marvin, because he obviously will be a player, he just need s a year or two more of the NBA weight program and confidence.
  14. Eh, Preaching to the choir there eh? You and Walter can just have your own Chris Paul over Marvin Williams thread...
  15. What an interesting, unique, perspective Walter. When are you replacing BK?
  16. It is an important reminder that the Islamic world is a lot like us, religious differences aside. Too many people react to religious extremists and stereotype the whole religion and culture. I'm glad to hear it. Remember when the Iranians cheered the American wrestlers? They love parts of our culture. And we often don't reciprocate by loving parts of their own culture.
  17. I agree. I 'm hoping when Chill gets back that he, Grundy and Ivey can play enough to allow JJ to play around 30-35 mpg instead of 40-45. JJ really needs rest. You couldn't tell tonight because JJ had a day off, he still had the flu, but he was on a mission to make up for the bad game he had with the flu 2 nights ago.
  18. 8 pts , 12 reb, 2 blk in 31 minutes, with only 4 PFs. Not bad! if Al or Smoove had showed up tonight we would have won, Al was only 4-14 and Smoove 3-12 from the field. I don't like how Smoove has fallen in love with the 3 point shot, he should be trying to get offensive rebounds and play closer to the paint sometimes Edwards was PATHETIC , only 1 reb in 14 min from the starting center? sheesh...
  19. That stat speaks for itself, but I think it is in fact better than it has been in recent years. I think that the east will catch up in a few more years.
  20. It isn't that easy, because it wasn't just those 3. I think Caminiti was right, more than half of the playes were using. I find it interesting that none of the pitchers are looked at, like Nolan Ryan, Roger Clemens, and Randy Johnson. I think the owners and management are just as guilty as the players are, but of course the players will take the blame before they will, before the fans.
  21. Marvin averages 23.8 minutes per game, Al 37 minutes. The difference is enough to impact statistically while at the same time being not so great as to make a projection impractical. If Marvin averaged 8 minutes per game and put up 3 points and 2 rebounds, you'd have a point, as it stands, you don't have a point, you're just continuing your anti-Marvin tirade against all statistical evidence.
  22. Hate replying to my own post, but to confirm these stats Al Harrington Reb/40: 7.35 Marvin Williams Reb/40: 7.89 Marvin is already better in that area and he could easily catch up with Al offensively, the raw skills are there. There is more Al Harrington Blk/40 : 0.172 (!) Marvin Williams Blk/40 : 0.521 (Marvin significantly better) Al Harrington Stl/40 : 1.157 Marvin Williams Stl/40 : 1.042 (about even) Al Harrington TO/40 : 2.865 Marvin Williams TO/40 : 1.681 (Marvin significantly better, but to Al's credit, he handles the ball a lot) tries to do too much though? Alright I think I made my point, don't want to go too far, but I think Marvin will be just fine.
  23. we need a versatile player who is more effective at the PF position that Al is. If you want rebounding and interior defense out of the PF position, Al isn't the answer. 3 pt % is nice , but we have enough shooters, we need post offense, so what good is it? That is one of the things Al does well, score in the post, and he isn't even being asked to do it. I'm sure some of this is coaching, and some of it is Al, but I don't why in a year from now the production of Smoove/Marvin/Chill/big via draft or facy for PF could replace Al and with it bring better defense than what we have now.. I don't know the stats exactly but I think Marvin is actually outrebounding Al on a perminute basis. That is ridiculous, because Marvin is just a rookie at the same position(s) as Al the 3 and 4. Also ex is right, Marvin challenges shots, and he gets in foul trouble a lot, because he gets no respect as a rookie and also he needs experience in that area, but Al does not challenge a shot, and still picks up fouls, stupid fouls, whereas Marvin's fouls are usually hard fouls which stop a basket, Al's fouls are usually soft fouls resulting in an and 1, or soft fouls which deny Smoove a chance at a weakside block. Diesel you're afraid to see that Marvin could at least replace Al. And I am of the mind that Marvin was drafted to replace Al, because of his pending FAcy. Might as well get something for him. I think BK has put up the smokescreen, his plan is to sign and trade Al this offseason.
