  1. That article is completely fair. The jury is still out for what Woodson is doing. I personally like what he is doing, but Boris Diaw and Jason Terry were definitely good players that could help us, and it is the fault of Woodson/Knight that they aren't here...
  2. I'm not sure Mike Vick will ever have half the offensive line Peyton Manning or Tom Brady have...the Falcons will have to get an offensive lineman for the first time in the first round in a decade to start off with. All that is clear to me KB is that you have Vick hateritis and you don't know sh*t about football
  3. Mike Vick played WELL in the last pro bowl, looked like a pocket passer to me. He outplayed all his probowl QB counterparts in last year's pro bowl behind the same offensive line and with the same WRs they had. Peyton Manning has how many probowlers at WR and O-line? Thank you very much. Let Mike Vick's WRs have time to grow and give him an offensive line before you call him a glorified running back. If he tried to stay in the pocket the way Manning can or Brady can he would get KILLED.
  4. young team had a letdown on the road. the Hawks have played horribly on the road all season, only 4 wins. They are 2 games below .500 at home...they have been playing well 4 out of the last 5 games. You were strangely silent on that, they won 4 out of 5. You only had negative spin. Seattle is a bad defensive team and a good offensive team, we held them below 100, couldn't get the offense together. Our D kept us in the game. Some the glass is half empty. This is the NBA any team can win on any given night , can't have letdowns if you want to succeed. Part coaching, part player immaturity, part personnel.
  5. You come here to diss the Hawks for a loss and you didn't even watch the game, get a life dude, you're no better than the national media types trying to get a rise out of people with negative spin, for some reason negativity sells ( I have no freakin clue why)
  6. if we signed Al to a deal like that we'd have almost half our cap money tied up in 2 players, JJ and Al, neither of which are PG or C...I don't think it'll work
  7. Woody did do a good job..not having Lue kept the rotation at the one simple.
  8. The NFC was just a really BAD conference this year, I think the Steelers will put a hurt on Seattle.
  9. College basketball I thought foul outs occur on the 5th, not the 6th..
  10. 5 points is a big difference in the NBA, even for a bad team such as ours...we have had some close losses...in fact one loss was directly attributable to the lack of the presence of Smith, it was in the game where Woody admittedly had the brainfart where he and his staff "overlooked" Smoove on the bench not in the game. At least Smoove and Marvin, don't forget him, actually try to play D. Al doesn't even try. It is like he is saving all his energy for offense and even that part of his game is not consistent. He has a 10-15 point game for every 20-25 point game.
  11. KB I have watched all the games except 2 and I think it is obvious the team isn't being coached up properly. They have actually regressed, they aren't improving from the start of this season. You can say all you want to that this is a young team and that is why they are losing, but if that was the case, how did this team beat San Antonio and Indiana? They have the talent to win some games in this league it is just that when things aren't going their way they don't know what to do. They play how Coach Woodson looks on the sideline. Clueless. His expressions and comments after games say it all. The Hawks players don't know how to respond to adversity. Most of all, they don't exert effort particularly on defense. They play the pick and roll and screens the same way all the time, never adjusting to what team after team does with that. The players have to be very stupid for Woodson not to come through to them on that mistake which is mental. I think the main problem is coaching.
  12. That was the play of the game for the Hawks I think ex. There wasn't many highlights other than Smoove's over the shoulder dunk and that Marvin block. Marvin is fine on D and we could get more out of him on offense if they were playing team basketball.
  13. I still think our biggest weakness other than at coach though is not having a good shotblocker at center.. our problems on offense are scheme and not so much lack of PG. There isn't enough motion and the guys aren't sharing the ball enough. because guys are standing around passes sail out of bounds...shots are forced up rather than taken in the flow.
  14. I agree with you Diesel, Carolina is tough as nails and I think Seattle is a little bit soft. Heck, Shaun Alexander would go to the bench with a hangnail and no way is Hasselbeck as tough as Delhomme at QB. No WR is tougher and fearless as Steve Smith for Carolina. Still it hurts Carolina not to have Deshaun Foster but I like their chances.
  15. I was at the game tonight. This Hawks team made the Bucks look like division leaders, and they played as poorly vs the Bucks as they did vs the Pistons. It looked like noone was trying. there was an older guy behind me and he said Woodson should be fired, he isn't providing adequate leadership to the team. This guy was a season ticket holder and he said he was told at the meeting that he could voice his opinion to management if he wanted so he is going to vouch for Woody's exit. I only got part of Brandon Leak's talk show following the game on 790 the channel faded out as I drove away from the perimeter. But the first and only 2 callers I heard call in were saying Woody should be fired. I'd like to know if anyone heard the other callers. and what they said. I don't think personnel on D is as much a problem as the scheme. I can't believe I'm saying this. Woody's forte is supposed to be defense. But this team is not defending the screens and pick and roll at all. There is no effort exerted whatsoever. The players look like they are running around like chickens with their heads cut off on D. On offense everybody standing around, on some plays 3 guys on one side of the floor. A shot is often put up after one pass, with no rebounders under the basket. We gave up way too many second chance points tonight and we left Michael Redd wide ass open all freakin night. I have said this before, Woodson has lost the team, they aren't even working hard for him anymore.. the magic wore off after the 4 games following Woodson's reprieve...
  16. I'm now convinced that KB21 has become the anti-Diesel, and that is NOT a good thing! KB21 is the antithesis of Diesel, perhaps the synthesis of Diesel and KB21 would be Hawksquawk's best poster.
  17. I totally agree I think that we need to use the money that it would cost to sign Al on big men that could help us in FAcy particularly Nene and Andersen. We definitely need to improve our defense and I think overall team play on offense would be enhanced with Al's departure as well, we've already seen how a team with less talent last year without Al and Antoine was still putting up close to 100 ppg last year, Chill and Smoove were scoring in double digits.
  18. I definitely think JJ was signed as part of a REBUILD, and not for us to compete for a playoff spot THIS YEAR. I think that is the medium term goal, but this team is still in talent acquisition mode. If we want to go to the playoffs as a medium term goal I think it is demonstrated that AL IS NOT THE ANSWER. He can't play D period, he can't rebound well enough for a PF, his offense is above average and sometimes excellent but not consistent enough to make him a star in spite of his other limitations. On this team, as the #1 option with plenty of touches, he can't score 20 ppg even when having a career year behind the 3 point stripe. I think he has peaked as an offensive player and we already have gone over his limitations on defense and rebounding. Why tie up so much of our cap space in such a limited player? JJ was a good investment, he is an allaround baller. To sign Al at 9 million per yr for 5 yrs or so which is what you are saying would be a huge mistake that would lead us to Babcock type teams that barely don't or do make the playoffs AT BEST, rather than at best a team that might go somewhere in the playoffs.
  19. Quote: Head Coach Jeff Van Gundy: “We left a lot of points on the board today. Free throws and turnovers were problem number one. Number two was our inability to get defensive rebounds and third would be that Al Harrington had a good night. When a team shoots that well you have to give them credit. I’m sure there will be things we look at later that we will wish we could’ve done better.” (Rockets turnovers) “I think their (Hawks) quickness and length has a lot to do with it. They are one of the better teams that we have played recently. I watched them in their last two losses and thought they were real good solid team. I think they are just going through the growing pains of being one of the youngest teams in the league. I like how their team is built.” I thought this was interesting....I don't think JVG was joshing either. What caught my eye the most was that he said "I like how their team is built" and "they are one of the better teams that we have played recently"
  20. Well put, I couldn't agree more. Al is too limited a player for us to pay him the max or even close to it. We need to use that money on a player that can help us on both ends of the court, preferably a big man or pg
  21. KB It looks like Chris Paul will be a star, I don't know about superstar. Lets just hope Marvin is a star first shall we? I think it should be acknowledged how good Chris Paul is, I think that Utah probably regrets passing on him for Deron Williams.
  22. What are you saying Hots, the Hawks have drafted some kids with nice skills! Smoove and Chill are both skilled, Smoove more athletic than chill but more raw, Chill less athletic than Smoove but more skilled. Marvin is very skilled at many things just raw offensively. Salim is a very skilled shooter, not quite the athlete some other guards are, and still needs to improve ballhandling and passing...this is a very young team, the youngest team in the league, which also has an inexperienced coach..the problem isn't lack of talent it is lack of experience.
  23. I would seriously consider doing it. We really do need a PG. I'm not sure we can trade Al for a decent big, there is such a premium on them in the league.
  24. I'll buy that he had no faith in Paul because of his short arms and mediocre height, and Deron because of his slow speed. But not Smoove at the 3... He has said numerous times he likes versatility and Smoove is a player that can play several positions. He wanted another player that could play the 3/4 and he got it... Marvin is Al's replacement, not Smoove's imo...I don't think BK feels the team can hold on to Al economically (I do believe he likes Al though) its just not economical to keep him on this team. You could say this and I would buy it, that he drafted Marvin to motivate Smoove. Yes I'll buy that. What young player doesn't need competition at their position for motivation? Chris Paul has Speedy Claxton behind him for motivation.
