  1. I completely agree about Bogut, I am definately not sold on him. Sure, he might end up being a great offensive Center ala Big Z, but he will never be a defensive presence other than a big body.. His max potential is Ilgauskus, which means we will need a defensive PF, possibly Swift..
  2. question about the lakers pick.. If they don't make the playoff's, but they are like 9th place overall, there is still a chance that they wouldn't be in the lottery right? for example couldn't the pick be about 14th or 15th?.. that's not considered lottery is it? In that case we'd probly get Boston's pick..
  3. I agree with that, but the same point can be made about SG's that couldn't be pg's. Look how much Cleveland improved last year after they moved LeBron away from the PG, just think about how many 2 guards could play PG, not many.. Either way, this doesn't matter, I really think that Chill's shot is getting better, and will continue to get better and he will become a much better SG. I am just not sold on Smoove being a PF until it actually happens, he's just not that good a post up player right now. And like I said, if Chill is blowing by his defender, than they will either switch up and put someone quicker on him, or just back off and force him to shoot, it's just common sense.. and for that reason I don't see it a big difference for Chill, because he CAN guard 2 guards, he's actually a very good defender and has good anticipation..
  4. I agree with your point Diesel, but the difference between PG and SG is a LOT bigger than the difference between SG and SF. On our team, most of the time the two wing players pop out for the entry pass, making the 2 and 3 on our team almost interchangeable. Either way, Smoove and Chill are going to pop out together, and the defense is going to choose who guards who. Remember that all SG's don't guard all SG's and all SF's don't guard SF's, teams are going to match up the best way possible, which means if Chill is playing SF and starts blowing by his defender, they will just switch it up and put someone quicker on him.. Chill will become an SG, plus he has actually been shooting well from midrange lately..
  5. Quote: The only money that they would free up would be that of Dalemberts... The best C that they have. It still makes no sense for them. It's similar to us giving up J-Smoove, Harrington, and CC for Ray Allen... We free up some capspace but only that of Harrington and J-Smoove... two players we like. I agree that they will not make the G-Rob/Daly trade for Walker, but I don't think that it is the same as us trading J-Smoove and Harrington. The reason is because Daly is a RFA this offseason and WE will probably throw a lot of money at him anyway. They could give Walker a shot or lose Dalembert for nothing, but again I still don't see the G-Rob/Daly for Walker deal happening.. And since the article said Philly doesn't have much Cap, what is the highest offer they will be able to match for Dalembert this offseason? Because I don't see any other team throwing as much as we can throw at him..
  6. Well I hope you saw Felton's game last night vs. UConn..
  7. We don't know who our team does better with, Walker or Harrington, because Walker hasn't been out yet!
  8. Quote: i'd take paul over felton because of his court vision but i'm stil on the bogut bandwagon right now... OMG I know you aren't saying Paul has better court vision than Felton! Are you kidding?.. just look at how they play and look at assists, that comment just made no sense whatsoever.. Felton is the much better prospect, he's a few inches taller, stronger and won't be posted up, just as athletic if not more, DEFINATELY a better passer and better on the fast break. He is also probably a better defensive player. The only thing Paul has is maybe a LITTLE more quickness and probly a better shot, but Felton has improved his FG and 3pt percentage drastically this year, he has become a very respectible shooter.. I completely do not want Paul because it's just too big of a risk, and I don't want to use a top 3 pick on a risk like that. Everyone was complaining about being disappointed in Chill's selection, well it'll be much worse if it's a top 3 pick..
  9. I agree 100% with Jsmithfan, Felton is definately the #1 player we need to get with our pick. He is so good on the fast break, and he would have a field day with Smoove, Harrington, possibly Swift and Dalembert. Plus his shot has gotten much better this year, and he is shooting about 45%. He is also about 6 feet and is a lot more built than Paul, which means he won't get posted up all the time like Paul will. His pg ability is just great, he always gets the ball to the open man, and it would just make our whole team so much better..
  10. Peja is 6'10" he isn't playin 2 guard, Smoove will have to stay there
  11. I'm sorry but I just don't think we should risk our potential #1 pick on a 5'9 Paul that consistently doesn't play well against bigger Point Guards, it's just too big of a risk. I don't want to have to worry about if he can get his shot off or not in the NBA. Even if his game translates, he will still get posted up by bigger guards on a nightly basis, that is a given it's not just assumption. Thats why I say we trade down a little and get Felton and someone else. That way I feel we have a better chance of getting someone good, and possibly 2 players. We won't have to worry about if Felton can get his shot off because 1 on 1 isn't Felton's game, he is a great passer and fast break runner who really elevates his teams play, plus he is a great team defensive player and has much more bulk and won't be posted up NEAR as easily. Also, being the player he is he will get many open looks, and he CAN make the open shot consistently.
  12. Yeah it would be awesome to get Magloire for Walker, but I really don't see it happening unless we threw in a first or took on a horrible contract like Mashburn or somethin..
  13. yeah right, whoever made the T.J. Ford comparison couldn't have been MORE wrong, other than them being the same height I don't see any similarities. Ford was much quicker and a MUCH better passer (he led the NCAA in assists his FRESHMAN season), we don't need a 5'9 Paul, his scoring will not translate into the NBA, which means he better be a great passer, which he is, but he is nowhere near Ford's or Felton's level. Felton is built bigger, a few inches taller, is just as quick, and is the MAN at running the fast break, plus he's a better defender. Paul is going to get posted up on a nightly basis..
  14. yeah I think we should draft a PG this year, it's just that none of the bigs are really that intriguing. Maybe Taft just because he could turn into a dominant Center, but that is DEFINATELY not a given. I like Petro but he seems like a younger Dalembert, very athletic and able to block shots but that will be about it for the next few years. If we go PG, I say get Felton, he just seems like a perfect fit for this team. He's athletic, plays great D, is unmatched in terms of running the break, and is such a great passer I really think he could be the next J-Kidd. With the players on our team as we will have Smoove, Harrington, Chill, Donta, and possibly Swift, we will be a fast break team that finishes with dunks and Felton will get them the ball better than any of the other PG's, save maybe Deron Williams, who is my next fav. I'd rather trade down than take a chance on a 5'9 Chris Paul, I understand he is a great player but there just haven't been enough great 5'9 players to warrant a selection that high, and it's not only the height issue, but he's just not THAT outstanding. And he's not a GREAT defender, he will get done up in the NBA by stronger PG's. Felton is a few inches taller and is more bulky and is just as fast, and he is already a great defender. Whoever made the Paul/T.J. Ford comparison was highly inaccurate, T.J. was quicker than Paul, and he also led the NCAA in assists his freshman Season. Paul is a good passer, but he's not on Ford's or Felton's level, and that's what the Hawks need, someone to distribute. When I think about it, I guess I'd rather trade down anyway because as of right now Felton will not be a top 3 pick.
  15. iight go to www.nba.com/hawks, and click "live audio: Hawks vs. Nets", it's right there at the top of the page to the left of the Walker picture, I don't know if that'll work but it might..
  16. dood I put it on 750 for a second and it said somethin about 'after the game' and then I heard them talking about the Hawks.. I think it is on there but I'm not positive.. try once more once 2nd half starts
  17. is this game on tv??.. if so.. what channel?
  18. I completely agree about Felton, him on the Hawks would be soo fun to watch and would just really improve our team, we'd be a fast break team like the Nets were. J-Smoove, Harrington, and possibly Swift would get so many dunks. Felton just makes his teammates soo much better, he will be the best PG out of this draft. He just has that passing ability that J-Kidd and Nash have, except that Felton is an excellent defender and also VERY athletic

    Offseason Talk?

Quote: Honestly, I think it's a better thought to trade away Harrington/Walker and bring in Dalembert/Swift and try to get Redd or Allen to come if you want defense. I agree, as much as I like Harrington, Swift would be the better PF between the two, he is more athletic, would block more shots, and has always played PF and C unlike Harrington. If we are able to get Swift/Dalembert as our PF/C combo to go with J-Smoove at the 3 and Felton at the one, that is just straight Defense that will Run-n-Gun, Felton is actually a great defensive player and all UNC runs is fast break. I really think he could be the next J-Kidd, and he could be with that team as he is such a great passer. Think about all the blocked shots we would have with that team. If we could get someone like Johnson, Allen, or Redd to play the 2 I think we could be a Championship caliber team in a couple years. Even if we don't get one of them, we can still use Chill as a good long defensive 2, and Harrington would still be GREAT off the bench. We would also have many trade options with Harrington on the team and also Chill, Delk. Our starting lineup would be.. Felton FA 2 guard or Chill J. Smith Swift Dalembert with possibly Harrington, Ivey, Lue, Chill, Delk AND Drobnjak as our backups and no really bad contracts. We would be one of the deepest teams in the League and we would have soo many options trade wise if we needed..
  20. I agree completely about Felton.. he's the EXACT kind of pg we need for our team.. we have so many finishers with Chill, Smoove, Harrington, and possibly Swift, that will be a fast break team and that's all UNC runs is the fast break.. Felton is an excellent passer and just elevates his teams play so much, I really think he will be another J-Kidd. He is also an excellent on the ball defender.

    I wonder...

Well then that is exactly what we should do. Trade down our top 3 pick and get a top 10 pick along with another mid first rounder. This will allow us to get the player we need in Felton and also give us a chance to maybe get Petro or someone else. I'd rather have 2 chances than 1 in this draft. With the unclarity of a Number 1, 2, or 3 pick its just not great odds to risk it all on one of them. Right now, NOONE knows who will be even top 5, it could be Marty Andy-somethin, Paul, Taft, or even Bogut. I'd rather just trade down for more chances and nab Felton in the top 10, then maybe get Petro or Gerald Green with the other pick. I really think BK will strongly consider trading down, unless he is EXTREMELY high on Paul and thinks he can get him with the 2nd or 3rd pick, hell we might be #1. It's just that with ALL the great PG's we SHOULD trade down and still come away with a good one (possibly better), and get another prospect mid-first if we can do so. Either way, I DON'T want Taft, Bogut, or Marty, because all are projects and Taft who may be the most ready is kind of short, but if we take one of them it would be Taft, as he could be great in his first year.
  22. This is exactly why we should get Felton. Thats ALL UNC runs is the fast break, which would mean a LOT of dunks for Chill, Smoove, Harrington and Swift if we get him, he's a much better passer than Paul and he is just the kind of player that would get all of our other players stats, just like J-Kidd. Plus he's a GREAT on the ball defender and an ultimate floor general..
