  1. Wish it could have been us. However, Grant is a Texas guy and he may well have preferred the situation in Dallas. He may have gotten to choose. I guess we weren't willing to give a first, but i would have. Our window is now.
  2. Actually I could possibly include OO as available too. I like his game, but without the shooting piece I can find guys like him. Nice kid, good Hawks DNA fit, but probably not special. AJ could be huge though, so it's a no on him.
  3. Ideal scenario is for this Jaylen Brown thing to happen and include Grant in the deal back to us. Then you can happily include DJM, Hunter, JJ, and maybe Capela; while trying to hold on to AJ and OO. I don't personally think JJ is going to be anything special, but the upside of youth (and a bit of good film) gives him value right now that will disappear IMO as he ages and gets more playing time. Same thing with Bufkin - just a replaceable guy so if someone wants him to get this done, throw him in. SG types are the most easily replaceable position.
  4. We shot more 2FG's than any team in the league last year, so one way we could improve efficiency is to pull defenders out of the lane. 60% from 2 is just as good as 40% from 3. There are different ways to be more efficient.
  5. Would love to see it. I'm one who really likes a front court shooter with the gravity to pull some weight out of the lane and open up driving opportunities for JJ, Hunter, DJM, or whoever.
  6. I like if true. Should have "Hawks DNA" (snort) in spades. He competes, has toughness, is a winner, shoots, does dirty work. We would be pretty small if you're going to play him with OO.
  7. I only mean production, body, skill set, athleticism. Put the stats side by side and there isn't much to separate the two.
  8. I'm not 100 on that but it definitely means you're not posting in there
  9. The best insider nuggets at the moment aren't even in this thread. Mods, I would appreciate that if we want to have an insider thread, that it is a locked thread which only can be posted to by vetted insiders. And then have a separate 'reaction' thread for everyone to talk about the rumors.
  10. Soth - does potential trade require the Collins/Gay deal to be completed first? We might need that salary to make something work.
  11. However, i would prefer a similar framework to bring back KAT. Modern ball requires a frontcourt 3pt threat, IMO. I'm secretly hoping for this instead of Siakam.
  12. Would make sense to me. Saves a little money as well short term. Then you would need to use one of our TPE's for a non-ball dominant SG which is the easiest market to shop in. I think our team would be better to move DJM's scoring to the frontcourt where it doesn't take so many touches from Trae. Trae is streaky and needs to get up shots in order to find "it" on any given night. I think that is why Trae's efficiency dropped playing alongside DJM.
  13. bro we needed a salary in that low-mid range that could facilitate certain deals. We have a lot of big salaries and lot of little ones.
  14. If OO needs to start as a C, and I think we are getting to the point as well, then we need a stretch 4 that can pop a good % from 3pt land. For me that would be Christian Wood since it looks like Dallas is not interested in making him an offer. We can use SNT to make it happen. What is the going rate to facilitate a SNT? IOW, what would Dallas want for the trouble?
  15. Unless we need the TPE immediately for a deal, it's better if we delay completion of the deal as long as possible, because you only get 365 days to use that TPE. If we strike out with it this summer, would be good to have a shot at using it next summer.
  16. The trade looks very bad on the surface, but it's a lot easier to make a subsequent deal into the TPE than to try and convince teams to take back JC when most teams were balking on him and his deal. I will reserve judgement on the deal to see what we do with it. If nothing happens, then the trade is a real black mark on ownership and management.
  17. SnT for Vucevic could be a possibility. Lots of possibilities with SnT, with clubs looking to get some sort of compensation for a leaving player without taking on much (or any) salary.
  18. yeah, correct. Am i right that we can not extend the 25.4 exception by sending out additional salary in a proposed deal? Example, could we send out an $8M contract to bring back a $33M player? I believe you cannot do this, but it would be better for the Hawks if we could.
  19. Also Nurkic a possibility if Lillard ends up getting traded and Portland blows it up. Nurkic could probably play alongside OO, IMO.
  20. Of that, I could see taking a swing at Jonathan Isaac, another devalued player who might finally be healthy for this training camp. We could probably bring him on board for picks and still stay under the tax.
  21. So if we are looking for players to trade for making less than 25.4 next year, and limiting this for now to players who are more or less on rebuilding teams, here are some names you can play with: Mike Conley Julius Randle Andrew Wiggins Anfernee Simons RJ Barrett Keldon Johnson Domantas Sabonis Kevin Porter, Jr Jonathan Isaac Jusuf Nurkic Kevin Huerter (lol) Luguentz Dort Kyle Kuzma
  22. Furthermore, if it's not obvious to all, the TPE (key word "traded") can only be used in a trade. You can't buy free agents with it.
  23. Ayton makes too much money (33M) to fit in the TPE, so it can't happen. Ditto KAT. We can't trade out an additional $8M in salary to make it work, because TPE doesn't work like that. There are limited options which will make it tough to find a trade partner. We will be hunting for a deal like the deal that netted us Clint Capela....
