  1. I'm hoping the exception is the point. It does give us an avenue to improve the team that we did not have. Still going to have to get it by Ressler though, because any significant use of this TPE throws us right back into the tax.
  2. He had a big steal late that was crucial to the outcome of the game. My hat is off to Trae. Now keep it up young buck.
  3. The main failure is that we were unable to make the necessary consolidation trade by packaging Huerter with other players to net a bigger and more immediate return. We kind of had to deal either Bogi or Kevin, so I agree with @bird_dirt that was a fairly easy call. Losing Kevin most certainly hurt our basketball. We are still awaiting a deal that helps on-court, and it's getting harder for me to really envision how that is going to come about. Then the Suns messed us over as well. It feels like we may have missed a window to taking the next step and now we're at a critical juncture in the development of the Trae Young-led Hawks. It doesn't help that a storm has just come through and moved all the chairs in the front office and even the head coach chair. We're starting again without any obvious direction.
  4. I don't either. I mean i've seen a few but wasn't my idea. Of them i think the only one that I liked a little was the first Guardians, because the little raccoon thing was really funny.
  5. Didn't realize he was this ummm.....concerned...... with things he can't possibly know or control. God is on God's time - hope this sort of thinking doesn't affect him too much. Hope he has his head on straight.
  6. Threezus nails it. JC has been available for the right price and nobody has met the price. That means we value him, but we see a trade through him as a *potential* avenue to make the team better. Not the only way, but a way. Do we have confirmation on what the actual deal was with the Suns? That's the insider knowledge that would tell you just where we draw the line on JC's value.
  7. 5 second round picks mean little to nothing. Very few 2nd rounders turn out to be at the level of Saddiq Bey, and we aren't needing rookies, we are needing valuable players both on the court and in trade proposals. His contract is right, the fit is right. Feels like we got a little better both now and for the future.
  8. It does seem to make sense from both sides.....i'm leaning to doing that deal if it's on the table truly.
  9. I think you always want the deal where you come out with the most valuable player. In that case Ayton for Capela/Bogi makes some sense. We save money which also increases the chance it happens. However I don't think it improves the team overall. Bogi has value that this deal doesn't fully capture to me - bench scoring will be missed. I'm not surprised either way we go on this one, i think it has to be a pretty hard decision to the Hawks FO.
  10. Didn't see the game but the box score indicates that we won the game with the second unit. Trae, for instance, was -11 in the game. What actually happened?
  11. He was much higher on this metric last year. His "TS Add" was top 20 last year. He has not adjusted well (yet) to the presence of DJM. I expected Trae to get more catch and shoots, but when I watch, DJM and Trae just take turns dominating the ball. They don't seem to make the game easier for each other. These shooting metrics don't take into account anything else where Trae brings value, most especially the high assist rate.
  12. If we do say, a Duarte deal, it would seem that would help us build the draft capital required to swing Embiid.
  13. But the scary thing is, by RAPTOR stats, you can hardly differentiate Reddish and Hunter if you put their numbers side by side. Hunter just isn't bringing it on the offensive end, and his defensive reputation exceeds his production.
  14. Remember when we got a first round pick back for this head case? Good times man...
  15. I was right there with you. No risk acquisition with possible upside, so i like it. I mean, it's better than having the guy we dropped, and I can't even remember his name even though it's only 10 posts ago that I read it. Talk about no name! We got the other Cam Reddish level bust now! Right back where we were lol.
  16. I'm extremely excited, but it's July. Another 4 months to wait so don't want to peak too soon. I also expect some growing pains because this is a big change to the way we play - and I'm not sure how Nate will manage it.
  17. It's a concern because he's got injury issues going back to high school. Hope it's just bad luck at this point.
  18. There is a price at which Ayton becomes enticing, but if he's holding for max then that's a hard pass. A 20% discount (~$6M) might get me back to the table. Might. I'm much more into keeping Capela at this point.
  19. Look at these guys in white tee shirts and compare to the guys dripping in LV and ice. Keep us far away from Ben Simmons.
  20. Big O yamming on the foldable chair
  21. I don't get why we didn't pick him over Griffin. I guess it's the class high floor (Eason) vs high ceiling (Griffin) debate.
  22. I like Collins in this role where he would be the #3 guy. I really think it can work. We can hold onto Capela too if there is no clear upgrade for him. We still need a big on the bench that can score a little bit to fill the hole that Gallo leaves, but otherwise I'm pretty excited to see this team.
  23. This post aged well! Nailed it!
