  1. I'll say just this. If Cam can legit beat out healthy Bogi for a starting role, then yeah, we're done and we're going to win titles. Pump the brakes on the Cam train though....i was impressed he could made the impact he made in some of the most important games this franchise has ever played. However, greatness is achieved when you can contribute night in and night out, and when you add up the figures at the end of the season, they don't ever say things like 26% 3FG. So, yeah Cam caught a serious heater. But was it just a JR Smith hot streak? Only time will tell.
  2. It's clear to me that we'll just have to pay John whatever we can get away with. We can't upset the growing chemistry on this team. Before this playoff success, you could make your arguments. Now, we must literally pay whatever the market rate is, even if that is max. That's just the cost of doing business at this point.
  3. The dead squirrel he wears on his head slips down and covers his eyes from time to time
  4. The most exciting part of this run for me is being right. Posted this on Jan 21 2020 (last season): Forget about this season, and forget about trades for a center unless you can get a desperate salary cap dump. Get Bruno more minutes. And since we are the Hawks, we'll have the 4th pick in the draft instead of 1 or 2. We will draft Okongwu - his NBA position is most definitely center. Strong and freakish long arms. Then center will be taken care of, and I would keep Bruno and Len (unless we get some nice offers for Len). Then we wait for Cam/Hunter/Huerter to develop, while keeping open the possibility of a big trade or 2021 FA splash for a true All-star SG/SF. Be patient and don't force it. If Cam or Hunter grows into their upside, we may already have what we need. This is the last piece and will be the hardest of all; finding another stud who can coexist symbiotically with Trae. We need to find our Klay Thompson.
  5. I talked about this in the preseason and at the trade deadline. Just the idea that we have significant internal development ahead of us, and maybe we should just let it play out. We have that rare option to simply grow as a team. The more minutes these guys play together the better. I don't see big holes in this roster at the moment. Embiid was a load for us (for anyone really), maybe you might like a beefier option for post defense than Capela at times? We switched JC onto Embiid at the end of the game and it was super effective. Huerter has surprised me and last night made himself a load of CASH. Kid is still developing and I love how many deflections he gets in the defensive game. He was chasing Curry through screens all night, playing big minutes, and still had gas in the tank to get it done in the 4th. He may have just passed Bogi (though i understand Bogi is hurting). King Kong just needs to add muscle and continue to work. He's playing real minutes as a rookie in the playoffs and has looked better and better out there. 15-20 more pounds would look good on him. Reddish, well so far he's a bust and hasn't shown that he wants to come to work. Anything he gives would be a pleasant surprise, but he has passed and lapped several times. Don't know if Lou Will wants to keep playing but I'd love to sign him up for another run. If not we may need help at backup PG.

    Dre

Probably wise to hold him out tonight if there is any question. Always going to be tough to take Game 2, Philly can't afford to lose. That will give Dre several days to really get the swelling out and feel good for a huge game 3.
  7. Duarte seems interesting, but I don't really care. Given where we are, I'd rather we take one of the older guys in the draft or just trade away for a future pick in order to keep tradeable assets.
  8. Respect is earned and not given. If Trae is able to go tonight we might just have a shot at this.
  9. GWU really needs 4+ inches of height on his hair. He really does look small out there, which is my biggest disappointment. I think he'll grow (as a player) leaps and bounds with a real offseason.
  10. I would do Rondo plus our first for Ball. It's better than the Bulls offer.
  11. I'm cool with Okongwu, he justs needs work and a real offseason. He looks small out there....he needs to get skrong and confident. No reason to think he won't get there.
  12. I'm being overly dramatic, let's called it a missed opportunity? Okongwu could be good but a bit redundant. The best case for him is that he becomes starter quality and is blocked from getting starter minutes by JC and Capela.
  13. and get the f*** off my lawn
  14. and on JC - PAY THAT MAN. What else can he do for us to prove he's worth it? Pay him - keep him - build with him. Let's actually have a group of guys that, at some point in the future, have played together 8 years and know each other back and forth. It's what we used to call a TEAM.
  15. We screwed up so badly not just taking the obvious Haliburton pick. My goodness we would be set. Why did nobody consult me or Gray Mule?
  16. I wonder if they would do Rondo and our 1st.....that would probably be fair value on both sides. I mean, we REALLY don't need to be drafting another f'in rookie. We should be trying to get *now* value for that pick.
  17. I tend to agree. I think this is a no go, and I'm not really high on Cam.
  18. I love this post. I mean it's intriguing to get legitimate NOW value for a project like Cam that might never work out. I think Lonzo could play alongside Trae, he's not ball dominant. He could also head up the second unit, or do some of both. Cam is a big net negative on the court right now. Internally, if our opinion is that this kid is a bust, then maybe you make this move. But I would like to see Cam under Nate, and we don't need another dude coming in looking to get paid and be the man. There is a real risk on this move.
  19. We're hitting the longest road trip at a good time, team is clicking. Would be disappoint with less than 5-3. Then we have something like 16 of final 23 at home. We should be good for 4/5 seed barring major injury - which means a legit chance to win a playoff series.
  20. Oladipo if it costs Kevin is a no. Derozan hell no unless rental for cash only.
  21. I didn't know the offers were low....in that case I totally agree with holding. I thought that I heard some teams had legit interest and were possibly making solid offers that were still in-line with Cam's best case potential.
  22. This won't be a popular opinion, but Cam has confirmed already the pre-draft knocks on his drive and desire. I say, if you can get anyone interested while you can still argue "potential", then make the deal and ship him out. Right now his trade value should be higher than expected future value.
