  1. Counterpoint is that a 2-for-1 deal could actually end up saving money.
  2. Bogi is super valuable as a bench scorer, and we can extend his career by playing him 20-25 minutes a night. He's a supercharged Patty Mills.
  3. With Bogi - i'd rather let him play out his contract. Next year he'll be on an expiring which will be good. Also, if you let him play it out, Euro guys are much more loyal than Americans. Decent chance you can bring him back on a mid-level at the age of 32.
  4. If you absolutely need to free money, move Huerter. He's young and valuable now, but he doesn't have that dog in him and I feel like AJ Griffin could grow into that role. In his case maybe you could recoup one of the picks that we traded away.
  5. We are barely into the tax with a lot more moves left to make. We've got some pretty big salaries sitting on the bench right now. For me I'm not super into the JC for a vet PF and a pick type deal. If you can package JC with someone else in a deal where we come out with the superior player, alrighty then. Odds of that are dwindling. Ayton and who else?
  6. I'm sure as hell not letting JC go for Ben freaking Simmons. No need to take a risk that big. Ben would have to REALLY be on sale for me to want to go there.
  7. Muscala would be a good, and very possible name for one of the backup frontcourt spots.
  8. What people have always said is the JC wasn't quite at the level to be the #2 guy on a championship roster. But he is a damn fine #3. He doesn't need the ball to be effective, he can do the little things, he can be a glue guy, he can shoot the 3, he can be an electrifying spark plug at times. He's young too and under control for 4 more years. Despite what people may want to think, he's on a solid/fair contract that only gets more and more valuable over time as that cap rises. I like a 3 man core in the front court where you have one guy who spreads the court (JC), one guy who dominates the paint (OO), and a versatile 5 (i would hope Ayton). Then obviously you need 2 more vet backups in the frontcourt and you are set. If we keep John, we need to really commit to him and keep his name out the rumor mill.
  9. There's a time for picks, and there's a time for players. We've been building this thing for 4-5 years. The last time we really bottomed out was the 24 win season in 2017-2018. At that time, the picks were everything, we collected them like gems and turned them into: Collins Huerter Trae Reddish (since converted to protected 1st) Hunter (draft day deal costing picks 8, 17 and 35) Onyeka Jalen Johnson AJ Griffin We whiffed on one first rounder, Omari Spellman who was a #30 pick. Clint Capela only cost a protected first rounder (via BKN) and Evan Turner's matching salary. Steal of a deal. Bogi signed in free agency for 4/72M and is the oldest player in the core - he will be 30 by start of the season. Now we have Murray, who cost us picks (including the Reddish pick), but no core players. !!?!?!?@?@?@??! We stand today with 10, TEN, 10, TEN core players, values ranging from significant (Bogi, Huerter, JJ, AJ) to stratospheric (Trae). 2 All-Stars. Catch your breath - this was a rebuild for the ages. Who said tanking works? They are correct. -------- THAT WAS THE TIME FOR PICKS -------- What in the world can a team like this do with middle to late 1st round picks at this point??? There are no more minutes to be had. Any trades we make from this core will likely result in an even better core player. Obviously we are looking for 2-for-1 and 3-for-1 type deals at this point because we have too many hands, and in time, too many salaries. I was upset that we even made a draft choice this year. Poor AJ Griffin. He has little to no chance here - what's true for JJ is doubly true for AJ. Should have moved that pick for a future 1st. Funny how once you pick someone in the mid 1st round, the value of the guy you get is instantly half of the pick itself. ----- AND THIS IS THE TIME FOR PLAYERS ---------- This is better than getting Joe Johnson. It's better than the Bibby trade. It's better than the Danny Ferry Hawks. There's nothing much to compare it to in Atlanta Hawks history. This is a watershed moment. The summer everything changed.
  10. I'm surprised benhillboy doesn't have a job offer with the Hawks yet. Wait a minute......
  11. The Charlotte pick is possibly worthless, or only worth 2 second rounders.
  12. My guess is it would an Eastern team that could likely supply a (potentially) higher first rounder than we could.
  13. I'd do 3 picks (including the CHA pick) and 2 swaps. Swaps are usually limited in time, right? We do the deal and we'll be good for a long time - not sure the swaps mean a thing. Let me know if that is dumb though.
  14. Josh Hart shouldn't be overlooked here as a throw in - he has better BPM and win shares than any of our current options at SG. His rebounding at the 2 is drool worthy.
  15. If keeping 16, that's where I would look SG. Maybe Johnny Davis is available there. I know we worked out Agbaji.
  16. I'd also do 7 and Hart for JC (if that is possible), and then draft Tari Eason (+DEF, +SHOOTING) who appeals way more than Dyson Daniels to me. That would be a defensive boost, and salary savings. Tari is 21 years old, only 3 years younger than JC - older prospect better for win now (or win soon).
  17. jaden ivey is the next randy moss
  18. If Kevin (+ perhaps the CHA pick) can bring the 8 pick, and 8 + 16 ~= 4.......keep JC and Capela and grab Ivey and let's roll. Unless someone blows you away with value for Capela or JC, this is the direction for me. You can always move JC or Capela later if OO blows up.
  19. I love him too. The options to upgrade him are extremely dangerous to me. Honestly he and Collins, when healthy, are a nice pairing. It has to be a great deal for the Hawks to consider it. We've waited literally forever for a good center and now people can't move him on fast enough. He is not a problem that needs solving IMO.
  20. I like 7/Hart for JC followed by 7/16 for 4 (Ivey), if that is in play. I'd still be concerned about offense at PF, but rebounding would be insane when Hart/OO/Capela take the floor.
