  1. This article, highlighting those players... really made me depressed :help wanted3:
  2. How about him coming HOME!!!! That ol...WIN ONE FOR THE HOME TEAM mentality
  3. PLEASE LET THIS BE THE CASE...... :write a letter: If Heat needs to increase offer to Miller, it could create 1.1 mil in space by pulling Joel's qual offer. :helpsmilie:
  4. Even before Al Harrington came off the market, they saw Anthony Tolliver as a viable alternative. The Bulls, Lakers, Warriors, Jazz and Hawks are also interested in Tolliver. Read more: http://www.realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives/68131/20100713/dallas_will_pursue_tolliver/#ixzz0tfGQe7X5 I hate this time of year for this very reason. These are very reasonable options for us, but no, ASG would rather have a NAME in Shaq. Toliver and Randolph would be solid upgrade over our usual "Vets".
  5. Barnes> Evans plus the fact that he is an expiring contract, do you really want to hold your breath that he stays on our squad?? Yeah yeah I know he can his a spot up jumper, but come on now, we all know how much he is a liability when guarding 3's. Do we really want to take away JJ's advantage over SG by moving him to the 3? Barnes can hit an open jumpshot just as well and plays better D.What if Marvin/Evans gets injured? Who backs up who then? By signing Barnes, you also give yourself flexability when it comes toinjuries/ trade scenerios if Marvin/Evans name is brought up by other teams. With Chill being gone, if someone wants marvin/Evans as a trade piece, right now our hands are tied. If you have Williams and Barnes, and someone mentions Marvin name, I have to think that Sund/ASG will be a lot more comfortable making that move. Please realize that in the pecking order of our players, Marvin name will be brought up as trade bait, and right now we cant make that move.
  6. Are you aware that we only have one SF on our roster, which is a player that most people on this board want to trade in Marvin??? We HAVE to add depth at this position. I would strongly recommend that we sure up that position with adding Barnes. At this point, the crop of SF FA is the weakest of any position that we are in need of(PG/C). I think we will eventually add Aminu as a cheap hometown discounted roster filler. I say if we add Toliver before it become too late, then concentrate on lower priced Centers like Anthony/Mahini/Thomas, then we still can get a low priced pg in the likes of Critt or Livingston and for ONCE we will have address our positional needs. Honestly, the last move I can remember that we made to actually fill a positional hole was the Speedy signing. And we all remember how well that worked out for us. Horford doesnt count considering we still play him out of position.
  7. If the Mavericks are unable to reach a deal with Al Harrington, they could turn to free agent Anthony Tolliver. The Bulls, Lakers, Warriors, Jazz and Hawks are also interested in Tolliver. Read more: http://www.realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives/68131/20100713/dallas_views_tolliver_as_harrington_back_up_plan/#ixzz0tcxst5MK I always notice how the HAWKS are place in order compared to other teams.
  8. I dont know if the CHA trade affects this, but if not then it looks like another one is coming off the board. The Mavericks are close to signing former San Antonio Spurs center Ian Mahinmi, NBA sources said Sunday. Mahinmi (6-11) played 26 games for the Spurs last season and is an unrestricted free agent. He averaged 3.9 points and 2.0 rebounds in six minutes per game last season. Several NBA sources said the 25-year-old Frenchman is ready to make a significant improvement moving forward. If the Mavericks secure Mahinmi, who would at the very most require the bi-annual exception of about $1.9 million, it could be a sign that Dampier no longer is in the team's plans. http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dws/spt/basketball/mavs/stories/071210dnspomavsshort.1d7f170.html
  9. Looks like Dallas is really on the move. I thought Al harrington would be a nice fit off the bench here to add more scoring, but due to shot selection/defense I am sticking to my guns with Barnes until he is swiped up. The Mavericks have targeted Al Harrington in the free agency market and hope to sign him using their mid-level exception. Dallas prefers Harrington over Shaquille O'Neal. 10. SIGN me up. I think 3 reasonable big men for the vet min would be Toliver, Ian Mahinmi, or Joel Anthony. I would even sign all three and put ZaZa out there for lets say for a pg in sessions? Those three big man, a solid point guard in sessions, a solid SF in Barnes is a way better outlook than Shaq + scraps. It's always is very interesting this time of year because you figure you can pick up good solid role players to come here, but its always entertaining to see what city/teams they often end up at. I know I would like to join the hawks.
  11. SOLID :thumbsupsmileyanim:
  12. Once again... name me some suitable upgrades to Marvin at the SF considering the above mentioned factors? Sometimes I dont get the want to trade players on this board. Look at all the contracts given out, and tell me those players or their contracts are better than Marvin.
  13. Self Perception is a MOFO :slap1: :slap1:
  14. Realistically, how many players from this squad can make the team considering the finacial situation? Teague and Crawford have contracts, but with this squad is there room in the wallet for guys like Aminu or Augustin/Hendrix? Basically is this just a pick one and done situation? I know Sund better not have RandMo a roster slot.
  15. Does this make the trade make sense now? I figured that this was the case being we go so little. Hindsight I prob would have made the Bucks deal instead of this one. It would be nice to know what other teams had his value at
  16. I totally agree. A MLE Shaq is a decent price. An overpaid Shaq should not be an option, ticket sales or not. A trade for Shaq should not be an option. I say spend the MLE on Barnes at this point, soilidifying the SF rotation, and get to min sal centers in Toliver/Anthony. 3 solid glue guys is a way better value than one over paid over the hill player. Where does Shaq get off thinking he can only charge US more money. If he was looking for more money all the way around I would probably have a different opinion but just to say... since you are ATL then you have to pay up is ridiculous to think the ASG would give in and become even more cashed strapped.
  17. This is just a proposal by the host correct? It's like 6 out here in Denver and I missed the opening of the conversation. As was mention... Smith brings an aweful lot on both ends of the floor. Sure we need a bonified pg... but do we want a broken down Parker on the decline rented for a year? I would trade 4-5 players before I traded this one for one scenerio. I dont know am I crazy in thinking this?
  18. I whole heartedly agree. I would much rather see us use the MLE on Barnes at this point. and just add Toliver and maybe Joel Anthony for minimum contracts. Is a summer of signing two back up centers and a role player a huge upgrade.. no. Is it a neccessity at this point to keep this ship afloat...YES. I think that would be a solid rotation of players off the bench. No more Shaq talk at this point please. Just get me some solid help. I think those two centers are better than one old Shaq. And with Barnes on the roster to push marvin, thats two SF that can defend.
  19. Thats a suitable replacement for boozer. And without having to send back a player.
  20. I've had my fair share of marvin proposals, most of which never see the light of day on this board, but with that being said I think we judge Marvin on terms on what he should be as a number 2 pick. Honestly he is solid. He defends well. He doesnt take many bad shots. He gets a fair share of rebounds.. etc. Sure he isn't a top 5 scorer. But there are a lot of guys I know I would much rather have him on my squad than. Take a look at the SF Production, and where he ranks. I am interested in knowing all things considered(quality of play, intangibles, team chemistry, contract $$, etc) who you think is a better all around option? Take a look at the players from this list and let us know what you think. http://www.realgm.com/src_playerrankings.php?season=2009-2010&filter=sf&highlight=
  21. 1. If we trade marvin we better get something good in return(not a chilldress situation) Biendrins is ok in my book but what about depth at the 3 after this trade goes through? 2. I do like the signing of Matt Barnes. I think if we have him and Marvin its just as good as Marv+chillz or any chillz+?? scenerio 3. I dont like trading our only points off the bench for Jefferson 4. Hellz yeah... but that would never happen Sy and Serg are not even options to join the team what so ever this year due to the fact they have contracts with their clubs overseas that will not be bought out by ASG. So no go on that scenerio.I would think that the TPE would only work with NBA clubs and not a different league. I dont even know enough about Aminu to even think that an undrafted SF would make a decent first option off the bench. And what happens if Barnes get hurt and we have no depth??
  22. Thanks. I didnt want to have to read through x # of posts/threads on every subject besides the one I really needed info on
