Official Game Thread: Spurs "at" Hawks -- The MLK Day Game!
thecampster replied to lethalweapon3's topic in Homecourt
Bey needs to take a step or two in those corners away from the baseline. His shots are all straight on but short long. It's a depth perception issue.- 125 replies

Bagley on his way to Washington in a salary dump. Kind of sad as this was a low risk move we just couldn't make happen. Only downside (as what it took to get him wasn't much) is he makes 12.5 mil.

I've shared this with the insiders. Take everything I say here with a grain of salt. Its an extension of what is written above. Jalen is the only untouchable on the roster. Not because he's the best but because his cost to production value is off the chart. There is no way to get back Jalen level value at his salary. Trae is untouchable 1a. But its not because he's untouchable. Teams would not give back enough value for Trae. They understand how he limits teams and he's techs/complaining have worn thin around the league and with officials. Trae is untouchable because you'd never get back = value. The team would like to get back a good PF and slide Jalen to the 3. They believe his best value is at the 3 where he can overpower 1/2 of the 3's in the league. The team would like to get bigger (like 10lbs/2 inches per position) and that starts with Jalen over Dre. The interesting name I heard (and I heard several) was Marvin Bagley at the 4 next to Jalen. They think that's the kind of size/fit they'd like and they think Trae can bring out the best in a player like Bagley. The team would be willing to slide BB back into the starting lineup at the 2 if the return on DJ is good. The team would like to move on from Clint for a bigger, longer Center with potential. They would be willing to play OO at the center until the big center develops. Short answer, if you hear a rumor about us acquiring an undersized player, its a lie. Quin wants length/size. He doesn't want another Philly/NY/Miami foul fest with no retribution. I'd be very surprised if we don't acquire an enforcer. Lastly, there is a possibility that for the right player, we spend that John Collins TPE. I really can't say more than that but that's on the table right now.

Wife knitted me a hat after the shaved head. It's really warm. I was nodding off before Bey hit that 3. Wasn't sure I wasn't dreaming.

Horrible hands. I think you have him confused with CC. Bad hands I'll buy. Not ready hands, yah. But horrible hands goes to bunny shot Clint.

Right there. BRUNO 2/3 down the lane, 1 step out, perfect position to smother that. That was not Bruno a few years ago. Someone broke it down for him.

You and I buttes heads on him a few times and for me it was always his reaction time and starting position. He spent more time defensively being drawn to the free throw line and get passed behind. Tonight he's playing step out step in 1/2 way down the free throw line on both ends and cutting off his opponents angles. He's big. This gives him a huge advantage in shot challenges.

If Bruno played front of the rim aggressive like this in his first stop here, we would have never moved him.

OMFG when Jalen is allowed to push the ball up court, his whole approach changes and he becomes a menace.

You mean Wesley Matthew's right? Meth Bogi has had some quality moments.

I have a pocket list of people I'd trade away and for to improve this team that would make people do a double take on the defensive end and I really think that's what the trade deadline will all be about. Getting bigger, longer, better laterally.

I'd really love some advanced metrics or film study around how out of position Bey is on most trips down the court. That guy is pretty beast mode offensively but is one of the worst team defenders I've ever seen. I'd love that breakdown.

On that drive, JJ used the simultaneous hop dribble and did not get called for a travel this time. That's new, that's different and a good sign.- 197 replies

Quote: "There is no reason not to believe that if given starter minutes he can't average 15/8/3 and 35% from 3." JJ stats today: 15.3/8.1/2.7 and 41.5% from 3. John Collins this season: 13.7/7.8/.8 and 37.3% from 3. Collins last season for us: 13.1/6.5/1.2 and 29% from 3. I think the debate is over. JJ probably finishes the season closer to 18/9/3.
