Hawksfreak
Hawks original SG DerMarr Johnson is doing well after coming out of the Spinal Center. "I'm lucky to be still walking" and yes he is. Great news for us Hawks fans as Darvin meets his teammates today! "We have a group of all-stars,I think this is going to be the best team I've played with!" DHam says with excitment. Darvin to me is the most underated player in the NBA. As the new starting shooting guard for the Hawks prepares to be with his old teammate Glenn Robinson he will experience the life of starting in the NBA. Most people on the site say he can't be our shooting guard,I say HA! People also say he will get ran over,I say HA! I guess some people have forgot that this is then most physical player in the game and with no fear what so ever can do anything for a team. This slasher in college at Texas Tech broke the backboard after a dunk! That just goes to show you this guy means buiessness. I think he is a SG to be reckon with,he will surprise the NBA. Gray Mule
Love your attitude. If dreaming would make it so, you wouldn't have the Hawks loosing a single game this year. Slow down. Catch your breath. Hawks are going to be a fine team this season if we don't get too many players injured but it isn't going to be quiet as good as you have it pictured in your mind. Just don't want you to get things built up too high and have your dream fall right in front of you. The season is still some time away and all these other teams aren't just going to roll over and play dead. Hawks have a long season ahead. They will win some and loose some. Staying in the race is a lot more realistic goal than winning them all. Don't jump overboard. Look at the big picture. If you expect to win them all, a loss will hurt too much. Hawks will have losses. Count on it. Again, I like your attitude but calm down a little. We haven't even got to the exibition games yet. After that, then we face a very tough western swing right away. If Hawks can win half of their first 10-12 games, we will be in pretty good shape. Hawksfreak
It's either going to be like this....... Ham starts at SG or Dion starts at SG to be honest I would pick Ham,but you never know until the season starts and Dukegotgame31 if you read my profile it says that I still follow former Hawks and like then except for Isaiah Rider. Guest
Hawksfreak, sorry to say but there's no way that Ham's starting. While having been on some decent/ playoff teams, simply put, the man can't shoot. He's got a higher FG% than FT% (.544 vs. .496) and shoots a miserable .273 from behind the arc...not what you want in your starting 2 guard, regardless of his energy, hustle, and defensive abilities. Ham needs to play close to the basket MOST OF THE TIME in order to be able to get those garbage points and put-backs. With our front-line what it is, there simply isn't room for another person to be near the middle (part of the reason I'm hesitant about Ira - I really hope he has been working on his shot)...otherwise, JT will NEVER be able to drive the lane...cause (a) all our guys will already be there (b) there'd be no one to kick out to (maybe GR, depending on the play). Jay's article brings up a good point about our needing a three-point specialist off the bench - maybe that can be DD (who knows) or Email...but Ham'll spend time backing up the 3 and occasionally the 4 (6'7, 230 he should be able to if needed against PF's like Walker). Despite his limited range, Ira should start, so that Dion can have more control of the ball/ scoring when he comes in and we need a boost. The two defensive specialists (Ira and Theo) with our big three shooters ought to balance out. I hope.
