The Nuggets still are planning to sign a shooting guard. General manager Kiki Vandeweghe said he is "pinning myself down" to make a decision this weekend.

But it no longer appears the primary motivation is to bring in a replacement for White, who averaged nine points in his second season. Dion Glover, who worked out Wednesday and Thursday in Denver, might have emerged as the top candidate, but he isn't someone who would be handed a starting job.

Glover, who arrived in Denver on Tuesday and left Friday, might have risen to the top by impressing the Nuggets in his workouts. Glover, who averaged 9.7 points last season for Atlanta, doesn't figure to command a lot of money, and he might be willing to accept a one-year deal (or two years with the second a team option) because Vandeweghe wants to preserve salary-cap room.

Glover, 24, wants to play for the Nuggets. If he gets his wish, he might want to start. But White will have something to say about that.
