Jwb atl, ga: Are the Hawks going to resign terry? trade reef? trade theo? maybe to Dallas

Chad Ford: I think they are waiting for the market to set a price for Jason Terry. So far, he hasn't been able to get an offer sheet from anyone. Don't be surprised if that changes next week. The word around the league is that the Clippers are considering making Terry an offer. I think the Hawks will likely match it, but you never know.

Brian (Philly): So I read the Insider article with the ATL-HOU trade proposal. I was wondering if there was any chance this might actually happen...? Are there any discussions going on, that you know of?

Chad Ford: The proposal was Shareef Abdur Rahim for Glen Rice and Eddie Griffin. I think Houston would love to make that deal, but Atlanta isn't sure they want to give up on Abdur Rahim just yet.

Scott (SLC, Utah): I can't imagine that Sloan or Miller will want to go into the season with the current Jazz roster. What rumours and/or legitimate possibilities exist for a Jazz roster upgrade? Do you expect them to do something else before the season starts?

Chad Ford: They're trying, but what can they do. All of the top free agents are gone with the exception of Jason Terry, who wants too much money. They can try to swing a trade, but right now there are few teams willing to dump great players just for salary cap room.

None of this is to say Thomas is a lousy coach, or that he doesn't deserve another shot. There's no doubt he'll resurface somewhere, and my guess is it will be soon. This is pure speculation, but wouldn't Thomas be a great fit in Atlanta, where fan interest continues to disintegrate during an off-season in which the Hawks re-hired interim coach Terry Stotts, practically out of desperation?

Atlanta - All this summer we have talked about how Jason Terry is a free agent and we have wondered why the Hawks haven't signed him to a long-term deal. There is another alternative for the Hawks, because they don't have to do a thing.
