CBAreject
I think the Braves can beat the Cards. I don't think we're the favorite, but I believe any playoff team can win a 7 game series. How many underdogs have beaten the Braves over the years? Our offense is really anemic compared to that of St. Louis, especially if Francouer stumbles in the future (which is very possible). A lot of it depends on those guys you mentioned--Smoltz and Hudson. Aside from those guys, Hampton is a big game pitcher (see his postseason stats), so if he comes back strong, we're in good shape. Sosa or Thompson would be a very solid option for the #4 starter. If Smoltz is pitching lights out, we can beat any other team's #1 save the Astros (Clemens) who is the only better big gamer in the NL right now. I don't think the youth is a detriment. I think it's a plus. The only reason we won't beat the Cards is that we're just not as good...but the best team doesn't always win in a short series.
