  1. I believe that both have a ton of room to grow! Horford has the potential of being a D. Howard type of player. He's young, big and agressive. Yi has the potential of being a Dirk type of player. He's young, tall and a good shooter. Age doesn't mean much between the two. What Yi is possibly 24 and Horford is 21. Not much difference there. Both played for championship teams and both will get better, now that they are playing tougher teams. What will make the difference is Coaching, Attitude, Training, Team mates, System their in and Heart! One thing that may kill Yi is the pressure put on him by a whole country. Horford has the same, but China's gov't is involved plus the people...Horford just has the people. I would love to see Horford spend the summer with K. Malone and Rodman. I would send Yi to Kerr and Pippen
  2. I'm watching Houston vs Mil now and Mil is playing some good ball. Yi is a lot faster than I thought, but Horford will be guarding Bogut and Smith will be on Yi. Yi is alittle lost on Defense, so if Smith keep moving he'll have a field day with him. Horford should dominate Bogut! Redd and JJ will be the offensive battle! Marv will get killed on Defense...Redd and Mo are too fast, but Law will have a chance to shine.
  3. I take peace in the fact that after Denver got the hell beat out of them by the C's...tonight their taking out their fustrations on the Wiz...Let's make this a trend and follow Denver's path and beat the hell out of the Wiz on Sunday!
  4. the link is up now...it give you the second link to click on!
  5. Earlier today .fr site said to keep clicking refresh if you get the service unavailable msg...I'm sitting in front of two computer and the second link is working (boston commentators). I'll keep tring the .fr to see if their using Hawks commentators. I pray it works for the Washington game.
  6. It looks like the game will be on free tonight at http://atdhe.fr We'll see later tonight!
  7. I'm not saying we'll win the title this year, but we seem to have similarities to the championship version of Detriot. Given a year or two of maturity and I believe we'll be competing at that level. That year Rip was their primary scorer, but any of the four could go for 20 on a given night. Teams never knew which two or three guys would kill them. Defensively they had an undersized center/bruiser grabbing rebounds and a deep bench. Bullips = Law (Big pg who could drive/dish and shoot) Rip = JJ (Primary player who quietly killed you) Prince = Smith (All around player who hurt teams many ways) Sheed = Marvin (Good outside shooter) Ben = Horford (Big rebounder and put back points) Although I think our bench is a bit better, both have/had good role players. Just a thought after seeing how the win over Phx was a team effort w/JJ not having a normal night. If I'm Woody, I got these guys studing tape from that year. They beat the heavly favored Lakers and we can beat the heavely favored Celtics
  8. I don't know if you've been to many games, but most people will show up right before and after half time...it's kind of stupid and a waste of money if you ask me.
  9. Your Pick: My changes: vs Phoenix(L) Win (Horford, Smith, Sheldon should force them into shooting) Fri 09 @ Boston(L) Toss up if we're physical Sun 11 vs Washington (W) Wed 14 vs Charlotte(W) Fri 16 vs Seattle (W) Sat 17 @ Milwaukee(L) Win (We should be able to sweep) Tue 20 vs San Antonio(L) Hopefully they'll have turkey on the brain Sat 24 @ Minnesota(W) Tue 27 @ Chicago(w) Wed 28 vs Milwaukee(W) Fri 30 vs New Orleans(L) I may be at that game and we've never lost a game I've been to! Although I'd be happy to end Nov .500, based on your predictions, I truly believe we can end one or two games over.
  10. I didn't mean for it to sound loaded, but they Mil won. Redd had 27 and Yi was next with 16
  11. Some of you may remember I had that pre-draft conversation with BK and he talked about Yi...and I wanted Yi. I'm not complaining about getting Horford. Actually I think it was best that we picked Horford, but at the time I was chanting Yi/Law draft. Anyway, Yi started off badly (like most rookies), but do I now jump up and down and sing the ROY because of one game against Chi. No, but I am glad to see him have a 16pt 8rd 2st 2bk game. The point is how so many here live and die on player based on one game. There are daily threads about this player and that player that we need based on one game of the last few years I've been reading this board. Now guys like Marvin, Chill, Paul, D Williams and Deng have shown who they are or more than likely will be and that's fine. Then there are those that people screamed about us drafting or trading for Charlie V, C Fry, Foyle, that little midget pg in Denver and other who hasn't done crap since. Other's still deserve more time before we fall al over ourselve like Shelden, Milsap to name two. All I'm saying is give some of these player time and the right SYSTEM and some of them will be ballers. I had always wanted Diop and Chandler when other didn't. If we had picked them up, we'd be the best defensive team period. So give Yi time and teams like Memphis will be pissed off (after the break and next year Yi, Gasol & Darko would be hell offensively and blocking wise, post defense not so much, but that can be taught) Game time
  12. I agree we didn't get robbed, but we shouldn't have been in that situation anyway if not for all the offensive rebounds Det got (that's the players) and Woody not putting in shooter when JJ was being doubled (that's Woody), so there is enough blame. On a positive note, most here thought we'd be 0-2 right now, but we're 1-1 so I'm happy and look forward to Phx and NJ...I think we have a good shot at winning both or a split!
  13. In both games...when we get physical the other teams weren't able to compete with us. When Smith, Horford and Shelden are gansta the other teams have been out of rythem. Also last nights loss wasn't due to Ref's (sorry call, but it happens), Woody or Lue but Det got way too many offensive rebouds and scored on most of them. Take away half of their offensive rebouds and we win with a walk off. Thought: When teams are doubling on JJ, would a line up of Lue, Salim, JJ, Marvin, Horford work? I'm thinking with Lue, Salim and Marvin able to hit the jumpers team may become reluctent to double...now of course I don't like this line up for defensive reasons, but if we can get them out of doubling JJ we can then bring Smith and Law back in. I think this line up may also do well against a zone. You could also go Law, Salim, JJ, Marvin, Horford.
  14. I thought this would be a great big screen intro for Acie Law... ">" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355">
  15. I like that line-up against Dallas and Detroit. Dallas As far as big's go: Dirk vs JSmith - Dirk is a permeter player which is fine for Smith, plus Josh is faster than Dirk. Diop vs Al - Diop is bigger, but has limited offensive moves and Al played well against Oden, so I suspect he can handle a second tier center, plus Al is faster and has better footwork. Others: Harris vs AJ - hopefully the crafty veteran can come out and play, but The Law should get some time (my only worry) Jones vs JJ - no worries at all Stack vs Marvin - He's too slow for Marvin, but hopefully he won't be the crafty veteran As far as their bench we just have to handle Terry an Howard, but they do have to deal with the runnig/defense Chill/Law/Mario and hopefully hot Salim/Chill Detroit: The only match-ups I don't like are: Prince vs MWilliams Bullips vs AJ (Chill/Law may have to get some time here) I believe we will do well against: Wallace vs Al McDyess vs Smith Murry vs JJ Rip didn't play against the Wiz so hopefully he won't be playing on Sunday, but I believe JJ can handle him. I do like our bench against their's We should beat Dallas and Detroit will be tough.
  16. Not that I disagree with his All-Star prediction (I do), but he show's why that system sucks! Shaq will get in totally on popularity and although he didn't put him in Yi will get in on the same popularity that Yao did his rookie year (as long as he remains a stater and averages 12+ points). Business wise I know it creates massive hits on their websites, which equal ad dollars and the idea that if the more popular players are there more people will show up. Plus people are more likely to buy the jersey of an All-Star (I'm sure Joe's jersery sale went up after he became an All-Star) I know you must have fan participation, but some kind of league over-ride needs to be in place...kind of like a judge setting aside a jury's decision. Just my 2 cents
  17. Semper Fi! Devil Dog! I was at Lejeune from 91-93 and understand your pain of no Atl sports...atleast you have the internet.
  18. Although I could take this opportunity to direct you to my brand...since you go to gnc (crap store) I'll say the best bank for the buck is synthia 6...it mixes well and taste good. Really you shouldn't be going through that much protein power...it can do damage to you digestive system. Make sure you're drinking your weight in water since your taking in so much... Oh and you're wasting your money to take in that much anyway, because your body is only going to use so much protein which is usually half your weight in grams. 19. Is tonight's game on TV or Radio and if someone one is going could you let us know how our guy looked later tonight. NBATV is showing the Raptors vs. Some Italian team on DirectTV. I don't know about Comcast.
  20. I would never get wide eyed about this video...if you notice there are some people on the side doing the same thing and when the view opens up one of them is some girl...are we missing out on her too. Drills are just that drills...they're designed to augment or teach basic skills in a sport...at my gym we train many athletes (I focus on football/mma and two of my trainer focus on basketball/golf and another on track/powerlifting/volleyball), and the drills are not the element that separates the good from the greats. Drills help but they are not so defining. Example: During July/August we had two pro basketball players working out together with the same trainer, doing the same things...one is in the NBA and the other went to Isreal. Same drills, Same weight training, same flexibility training, same crossfit training...what's the difference. Natural talent, mental dedication to studing the game, history, medical... Can we please wait until the All-Star break before we determine who we should have drafted. Plus if we had taken Conley their wasn't a decent big left at 11.
  21. Last year a media hook-up of mine got me seats behind the opposing teams bench the same as yours. It's cool to be that close to the players (I picked on T Prince about needing a feeding tube, Naz and Sheed continued to do so the rest of the game offering to get him some food), but when something major happens on the other end you normally can't see if you're still seated. If the players are standing you can't see anything (you won't see the dancers during time outs, if you like gawking at fine women). Anyway it's a good experience, but I would want those seats most games. Most of the time I get tickets for the club seat across court 101-107 (I working on floor seats). Oh, you'll get some camara time...those were the only times my wife and kids saw me on tv.
  22. I don't usually do this, but I was bored waiting for the season and this trade was approved. All joking aside I do like it for us and I think it's fair for everyone. Atlanta: Incoming: Jarvaris Crittenton, Andrew Bynum, Thabo Sefolosha, Aron Gray & Ben Gordon Chicago: Incoming: Sasha Vujacic, Lamar Odom, ZaZa Pachulia, Kwame Brown LA Lakers: Incoming: Salim Stoudamire, Speedy Claxton, Lorenzen Wright, Marvin Williams, Ben Wallace, Shelden Williams Atlanta Lines up: Law/Crittenton/AJ/Lue JJ/Gordon Chill/Sefolosha Smooth/Horford Bynum/Gray/Solo **Two spots left LA Lines up: Speedy/Farmar Kobe/Salim/McKie M Williams/Walton/Evans S Williams/Cook/Turiaf Wallace/Mihm/Wright Chicago Lines up: Hinrich/Barrett Gordon/Vujacic Deng/Nocioni/Griffin Odem/Thomas/Allen/Khryapa Brown/ZaZa/Sweetney I don't believe this trade would ever happen, but it was kind of fun figuring out the salaries and positions.
  23. Realgm has the article from the paper in portland. After reading it I was like, "what the hell Atl"...Roy called everybody and insisted that they show-up. Josh Smith if your read this board (we know some people in the organization do)...that's the next step in your developement! I don't know who works on these guys heads, but I'd ALMOST not charge to work with Hawks players.
  24. I know BK may have faded me to the left prior to the draft with his talk of Yi and others (I do realize that he never mentioned Horford...clue as to the way he thinks, "it's what is not said that may be important"). Recently I added some new trainer to my gym and two of them work with NBA players (a couple of them are still here getting ready for camp), but an assiociate of Bynum was in a couple of weeks ago and mentioned that the Lakers were concerned about his toughness. I suggested he take up boxing or Muay Thai to boost his confidence. That being said we don't need another timid big. Every game I went to last year I noticed that Marvin, Shell and Solo have this timid/fearful look in their eyes. We need a bad azz!
  25. OK...I can understand your point on Lat and Lith and from a sports stand point concerning Russia, but... Geo wise Russia and Turkey are part of the Asian Continent. Some circles of education consider the split of Russia and Ural, but when I lived in Moscow for 3 months most people there considers it the continent of Euraisa (6 continents). Also the EU is not only for European Countries. The charter allows for countries outside of Europe much like anyother treaty organization. For this reason some has call it the beginings of the one world government. Turkey has never been part of Europe during any part of history. For the sake of competition I'd rather see Russia as a part of Asia
