  1. Funny guy...Russia is part of the Asian Contientent(most Russian's are considered Asian. Just because the leadership has European ancestory doesn't make the country European.) I started to say that it may be a political issue concerning Georgia, Lativia and Lith. since they were former Soviet States/Countries. Turkey historcally can be called part of Africa, Asia Minor and Middle East depending upon what historical time frame you choose. Of course each country could determine which reasonable contientent they would like to belong to.
  2. I think this would be a great idea. I'd watch that all day long. Would Deng play for Africa or Europe? There's Mbenga, Olowokandi,Diop Also there are a decent number of African's who play for European Clubs. Yao, ZaZa, Biendrins(Latvia), Andriuskevicius, Illgauskas, Jasikevicius, Songaila (all from Lithuania), Okur, Turkoglu(Turkey) would be on the Asian team as well. The Aussie team would have some decent players with Bogut,Andersen, Sean Marks. Would the Caribean Island play for North or South America? Duncan and Bell are from the US Virgin Island. Barea and Arroyo are from Puerto Rico. Foyle is from St Vicent & Grenadines. Or do you create a team from the Islands. N. America S. America Asia Europe Africa Caribean Austrailia
  3. I don't post much, but Damn! Are you sure you're an NBA fan? As I look at the rosters of the entire East and the Top of the West, I only see a couple of teams that Smoove/Marvin/Chill wouldn't start on (ie the Jazz has Okur/AK-47/Boozer, so they wouldn't need Smoove/Marvin). Smoove would start on every team at either SF/PF or they would make adjustments. To say that he wouldn't beat PJ Brown/Tyrus Thomas, Mikki Moore, Drew Gooden, McDyess, Charlie V, Walker/Haslem or Jamerison...Toronto would make an adjustment with Bosh! Duncan would play center to have Smoove at PF! Stoudemire/Marion/Diaw or Stoudemire/Smoove/Marion! Dirk at SF and Smoove at PF! The Celtics would run with Rondo/Allen/Peirce/Smoove/KG. Marvin could start for Toronto (Joey Graham...please). Snow/James/Marvin/Gooden/Illg is an imporvement...hell Snow/James/Marvin/Smoove/Illg is better! or Snow/Chill/James/Smoove/Illg! Nelson/Chill/Marvin/Smoove/Howard would run in Orlando. Dude are ya sure you watch the NBA!
  4. This is why Hillary must not become President. I don't believe she'll be able to get it through Congress, I don't even want her to try! My oldest daughter was born in Germany, in one of their socialist hospitals and my wife had to have an C-section. They used a scaple to cut through! They didn't have lasers. When my second daughter was born the same way at Kennestone Hospital in Marietta, I watched the doctor using a laser pull out a pound of scare tissue from the first sergery. He made the statement, "Who butchered you!" The quality of medicine would drastically decline! Our medical cost aren't due to private care it's due to Hospitals working on a 50% or less payment system. This means they expect more than half the people treated will never pay, so the cost is made up in overcharging those who can. We also have the highest medical insurances for doctors and hospital, because our judicial system has given obscene judgements against the medical industry. Our system is already somewhat socialized, due to the free care for illegals, welfare recipents and those who are considered poor. One of my (former) employees wife just had a baby and guess who has to pay the bill...Your taxes! When I offered opportunities to make more money, he didn't want to do it. Speaking of Taxes...My German friends pay 48% income taxes for their socialized medicine and they only made 60K. To hell with that! If the US turnes to socialized medicine I'll be moving my family and my company to another country!!!
  5. For some reason my laptop won't access Hawksquawk, but my Apple and Desktop will...any clues?
  6. 2 sides of the coin: 1. Indeed why would he work out with us unless he just wants to play in the NBA. We have the #3 pick and the best chance at picking him (unless Port/Sea goes against the majority, which could happen). Plus playing in the East would give him more PT against smaller players and a better shot at the post season. 2. If I'm his agent, he's working out for the #3 even if I had not intention of him going there. Sun Tzu teaches mis-direction and the creation of illusion(sp). If those who want him bad enough, feel he will be going to the #3 the urgency must be created and crafted. If Yi and/or the Chinese Govn't just says, "No!" to Atlanta, then Yi's value goes down and he'll get picked lower. Remember the Chinese Govn't will get a large portion of Yi's money. So the higher the pick the more money. The more PT and playoffs the better the endorsements. Plus if I'm advising the Govn't I would want him in an enterprising area with room for tons of growth. The Chinese growth in Atl will increase with Yi here and some of that money will go back to China. The question is, does the Chinese Govn't want to plant a seed in old soil or virgin soil?
  7. He didn't mention anything about a trade and I didn't press him for anything like that. Dakin: I'm sorry you don't like those type of events or maybe just that one, but if I was going to plug a company it would be my own (www.ucfitness.biz). I make $0 from that company, but UC Fitness is another story. I don't post here that often. I want to keep this site as pure as possible and not turn it into a marketing ploy (join my newsletter at www.ucfitness.biz). Shameless plugs are not the way we do business at UC Fitness in Alpharetta Although the feel was like two guys just talking, I have considered that he could be pulling my leg. My style is as such: The complement (getting talent), the common ground (he loves Atl, I'm born and raised), the understanding (people don't always agree with what you do)and then shut up and listen (only speak when a question is asked or the person is winding down then repeat the above). There's more to it but, I get compensated for the entire package. Pixie Dust Baby!
  8. First, you're right I finished the course today (Thur 7am-11pm, Fri 9am-11am, Sat 8am-8pm), so I'm alittle tired and came off strong. I apologize for that. I just finished listening to people getting all their negative attitudes about money/wealth/relationship out and reconsturcted, that I didn't have alot left. Anyway, it was just me and my wife (she could careless). My wife says that, when I engage in conversation with people, I sprinkle pixie dust on them and they open up. He seemed to be on the level...we had just walked into the CNN Center when he pulled my arm close to tell me about Ogden. He did give me that look, like "see people(media/fans) don't know stuff like that". Maybe it's the Marine in me or the teachings of my Grandfather, but for most of the conversation the man shooked my hand firm and looked me straight in the eyes. I beleive him.
  9. Wow! Is it that some of you guys have to find the negative in everything you hear or see. None of you know me personally, but you're willing to call me a lair. I may not post on here like most people here, but I do read this board daily. It's amazing how so many lives are not being lived out to its fullest potential because of the way they think. Some of the responses here are mirrors of the financially broke people I met at the "Millionaire Mind Intensive" this weekend (you can check www.peakpotentials.com to make sure I'm not lying about that event). Look beleive me or not I really don't care, but I like this board and it saddens me when it's reduced to childishness. Anyway, I don't know if it's the media or not, but as he was walking towards me he was very friendly to everyone. Reguardless of what you think, he's an approachable man. And if you want to know more about me: Larenzo Reid, born and raised in Marietta, Ga, 9yr USMC with 3 tours of combat, Computer Science Degree from SW Florida College, CEO UC Fitenss (www.ucfitness.biz), Deacon Board Chairman, Husband and Father. Not to prove myself, because I DON'T have to, I KNOW who I am and don't have to hide.
  10. I'm participating in the "Millionair Mind Intensive" at the GWCC, so this morning while crossing towards the CNN Center, I ended up walking and talking to Billy Knight: (it's after midnight and I have the 3rd day left which starts at 7:55am, so highlights) 1. He's extremely high on Yi and will pick him at #3, depending upon his meeting with the Chinese government on Thursday (they want him on the West Coast). 2. If not Yi, it will be Al Hortford. 3. Conley will not be #3, he beleives that he may be there at #11 or he'll choose Law or Citt (could tell which one he liked the most) 4. IF Oden falls to #3, he'll take him, but Oden has pins in his hip, planter (sp)fichitius and Billy only give him a 10yr career(Billy will take those 10yrs). 5. Hell no to (sp)Hawhls. Slow, foot work and all around bad. Billy actually turned his face up and nearly cursed. 6. No mention of Wright when we talked about acquiring talent...he thinks we've acquired the talent and now just need to add the finishing touches. 7. He loves the city of Atlanta.
  11. I posted this on another thread, but it belongs here! Say no to Gasol or Amare! Why?...We don't need them. Without the injuries this team would have been in the playoffs, period. The entire organization knows that and the league does too. With that being said, BK better keep the #3 and #11. Pick up Yi for $ and future, and a PG because we need one today and tomorrow. Instead of a bunch of teams lets look at the team that'll win the championship this year: Spurs Blueprint One Foundation: Tim Duncan Primary Sidekick (Star): Tony Parker Bench Sidekick (Star Most of the Time): Manu G Role Players: Everyone else(defenders, big shot makers, bulls) Future of the Above: Rookies, 2nd Chance guys, International Draft Outlook: Diamonds in the ruff to build a future around Free Agency: Supporting cast members This is the blueprint to running a basketball organization. Hawks Blueprint (possible) One Foundation: JJ Primary Sidekick (coming up): JSmith Secondary Sidekick (possibley coming up): M Williams Bench Sidekick (Sometime Star): JChill Role Players: Everyone else (SW, Slaim, Solo, Lue, AJ, ZaZa) Future of the Above: Yi, Conley or Critt or Law, others Without many injuries this team will make the playoffs next year and will have the funds to keep key players and bring in others. Drafting will become for the future not for the now. FA will want to come here, because they'll have a chance to win. When I own the Hawks (mark my words)...this will be my plan! 13. The summer before my senior year at Marietta High, we received a tape for head football coach Dexter Woods. It was a tape of this quarterback from Germany, who was shopping Marietta and Warner Robbins to see which school he wanted to play for. The seniors watched the tape to determine if we wanted to help Coach Woods recruit this kid. He was big and could throw, but we all thought that he wasn't all that good due to the talent he was playing against. The kids on the military bases in Europe were small, slow, not that athletic and didn't have the attitude of stateside ballers. We decided we'd help, but didn't think much of the guy. He shows up during summer training and although he was bigger that all us linebackers, we were convinced that once he gets hit by one of us, it'll be over. That summer/fall we "acceidently" hit him a couple of times and he did ok, but we still weren't impressed. Our first game was againt a Westminister (private school)...we destroyed them 41-0. We still weren't impressed. It wasn't until we played a true AAAA team that we realized that this guy was the truth. We won our region and he went on to break all High School/College records in GA. His name, Eric Zier. For semilar stories see: Roy Jones, Larry Holmes and Babe Ruth. These guys played against lesser talents, but their talent was the truth. Yi's post fade away reminds me of Hakeem/Jordan/Malone. Some guys take years to develope a got to/unstoppable move. His timing will be off until the All-Star Game, but after that he'll be blocking shot like Josh Smith/Camby. What will make him great is the system he's in and his mental toughness. That why some players are great and others are average. Fan want this player or that, but in the wrong system CP3/Deron are average. Very few players are baller reguardless of system (Jordan, Kobe, Duncan, Shaq, Chamberlin, Russell, Magic, Bird, Kareem, Walton, Hakeem, Labron, Pistol, Dr. J, Nique)...everybody esle needs the right system. They all have to have the right attitude/fight. Yi's got the talent! If ASG/BK reads this...I'm buying club season tickets if we draft Yi at 3 and a PG at 11.
  14. 1. If Yi gets 20min or more PT he will make the All-Star Game, with the stroke he has. Don't forget about the write-in vote if he's not listed. 2. 3.3% of 5 million = 165,000...10% of that = 16,500(interested) and 30% of that = 4,950 ticket/season tickets buyers. This would be my low end estimate if I'm running ticket sales for ASG...product sales would be a whole different deal $$. This is for the Atlanta market...add visitors from all over the Southeast, plus vacation packages from all the Asian visitors to the city during the season. Yi would be well worth it. 3. As a fan I'd like to see: Law or Critt JJ MW JS Yi running and gunning...I'd probably run a zone defense 2/3 (sub MW with Solo and have a block party down low, nobody will drive on that).
  15. I'm not from China, but I work in Alpharetta/Johns Creek and there is a large Asian Population in this area. He would have a large following here in Atlanta...When Yao played his frist game here, it was packed with Asians...From a business point of view, he would be a good pick.
  16. I did this thing and on the first spin I got us with the first and eleventh pick. They had us with Oden and Law, that would be a great draft. Dream world: The above happens and then Memphis (who got the second pick) trades the 2nd for M. Williams and Salim and we pick Durant. Pkg Lorenzen/Estaban/Speedy for Deke/Bonzi and bring in Kevin Willis. Law/Lue/AJ JJ/Childress Durant/Bonzi Smith/Solo/S. Williams Oden/ZaZa/Deke(player coach)/K. Willis(player coach)
  17. The bb aspect was to only show that the human body has it's bet muscle gaining years near and after 30, regardless of what your activities are. That being said, your activities and diet will make all the difference in the world. If I had Solo all year the 82 games wouldn't make a difference. Running (sprinting), jumping, pushing and throwing fall into the plyometeric relm, which will increase your cardio and vascular system. He would lift weights year round and his diet would consist of 6 meals/day (2 serving of a lean protein, 1 serving of a starchy carb and 3 serving of a fiberous carb) and half his body weight in water. He would gain muscle, not fat and water. Oh and by the way, "body type" one of the biggest myths of weight gain/loss. The difference it makes is only 25% of what you can accomplish. I've accomplish this task with pro basketball players, cyclist and high jumpers.
  18. As a Personal Trainer...a 23 year old putting on 30lbs is more likely than an 18 year old. Your greatest muscle developement years are from 28 to 35 (most Mr. Olympia's are over the age of 30) (steriods can only do so much, genetics are needed) ( oh and I hate steriods0. Anyway I have to say that Solo can easily put on 30 lbs over the next 2 years.
  19. Wow...such a miss placement of CS Lewis. In your view we should tank to get an unlikely franchise changer from the draft. The Logic: There are very few time that a "franchise changer" comes into the league and even then certain parts must already exsist ie Shaq(but it didn't happen until LA), Jordan(but it didn't happen until other were added and experienced, Duncan(he had D Robinson and they were injury plagued the previous year, L James(hasn't happened yet), D Howard (hasn't happened yet), Kobe(had to develope and then get with Shaq), Olijuahn (sp)(had to wait for Clide), Magic (had Kareem and co), Vince & Kid(had to go to NJ but still waiting) Other guy had to develope or move to another team ie Amare(develope and then get Nash), B Wallace (develope then wait for the whole Detroit team), Hell the previous starting 5 for Detroit, Dirk(developed and still waiting), Wade(had to get Shaq), J Oneal(developed and still waiting), Bosh(developed and still waiting) There's more but I think my point is clear Ogden/Durant/Noah will take time to develope in the NBA, they are not going to come in the league like Jame, Duncan or Shaq, but in the near future we should win as many games as possible and when guys like Bosh, Howard, Frye, Amare hit the market we are polished enough to attract them.
  20. I know I don't post much, but I've been to alot of games this year and against Detroit I sat right behind the end of their bench. When Ivey was in the game, Sheed/Naz/Delfino and McDyess all made comments that you have to respect his 17ft and in, and that he's active. I know not many like Ivey, but he plays good D and when given the opportunity he can score 6-8pt on kick-outs. With confidence I know Ivey can do the job as a distrubitor, so I would trade for a big!
  21. Although I agree with you...and correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the court order we're under prevents us from obtaining anyone with more than a year left on their contract. If so doesn't that take AI out of BK's range. Therefore management cannot be blamed. Now if I'm Philly, there's no way in hell AI would have went to a team in the East.
  22. I know that Lo isn't playing as well as he should and I threw stuff at the TV when he missed that dunk, BUT there are other parts of the game that he does that Solo doesn't. Rotation: Solo doesn't get it, Lo does which forces teams to reset or kick-out. Position: Solo is to light in the a.., Lo has enough girth and strenght to keep a guy from getting too deep. The paint is weak enough, but Solo is too green and light to handle alot of min. Now I wonder why Este is not playing. Although he fouls alot, he would do better than Lo in scoring and about the same in position, but less in rotation. Este should be getting the PT not Solo.
  23. I'll be at the game tonight sitting somewhere in section 101-107 (client hook-up) I don't know if this will work but check out my AI trade on espn http://games.espn.go.com/nba/features/trad...18~20~1~30~1~18 It's a four team deal: Atlanta incoming: Steven Hunter, David Lee, Raymond Felton Charlotte incoming: Royal Ivey, Stephon Marbury New Youk incoming: Slaim Stoudamire, Allen Iverson, Ryan Hollins Philadelphia incoming: Steve Francis, Estaban Bastista, ZaZa Pachulia it succeeded on espn.
  24. First I think it's wrong for anyone to critize someones pain, but not their policies...that being said, I also know that you destroy your argument when you call someones faith a "fairy tale". You've lost any chance of them even considering your logic. Most Christians aren't against stem cell research, but are against the way some want them to be harvested. To create a human life (an embroy can only become a human), just to kill it for study or to save someone else is inhuman. Now if the human life dies on it's own that's a different story. For non-religious people, if you're willing to create a human life just to kill it for the betterment of others, then why stop there. Create full adult human clones, to later harvest their body parts for the original (see the movie "The Island"). Why not! A human life is a human life, regardless of affliction. Would you murder babies to cure AIDS (my aunt and uncle died of aids in the late 80's and their life wasn't worth the murder of another life).
  25. Hey hawks fans...I know that I don't post often (actually rarely), but I do read 2 or 3x per day. I wanted to let you guys know that I'm opening a women only gym Monday Oct 30, 2006.
