  1. So we gave up Noguera (sic) for little. Payne is just a deferred 1st rounder....Probably in the mid-late teens in 2018 would be my guess. If the Wolves can't reach the playoffs by then, god help em. If we get that first, the Payne trade is fine. Bebe was a mistake. Payne was a mistake that *may* have been remedied. Because he prefers players to be iron-clad cogs in a system that takes time to learn. Look at Hardaway from last season. All the proof you need. Whether it's rookies, or young signees (Baze)....it takes time. No issue with Bud there.
  2. I agree. It's unequivocal that our management/personnel/contracts/etc are all in a much better place than 2010. That's an interesting matchup b/c 2010 is better 1-6 but falls off after that. 2016 rolls 9-10 deep. I'm gonna edit this to reflect more wisdom: 2010 Teague vs. 2016 Teague. EDGE: 2016 TEAGUE/2016 Joe vs. Kyle. EDGE: JJ/2010 Marvin vs. Baze. EDGE: BAZEMORE/2016 Smoove vs. Sapp EDGE: SAPP/2016 2010 Horford vs. 2016 Horford. EDGE: EVEN Jamal Crawford vs. Schröder. EDGE: CRAWFORD/2010 Bench. EDGE - THABO, SCOTT, MUSCALA, HARDAWAY, HUMPHRIES/2016. Coaching/Intangibles: EDGE: Bud/2016
  3. Um, very serious. Nice meme. Nice selective quote, too. Dennis is like Rondo without the douche bag--I know, between Dennis's youth and Euro, it's hard to tell sometimes, but Dennis is a good kid who has a firmer head on his shoulders than Rajon ever did....and better skills and traits in other areas as well. Dennis can be a leader. He wants to be sufficiently involved (ie start/play more than 20 mpg) but I don't think he sees himself as better than any system. Just has a little swag and pride...nothing we couldn't use more of on this team. I see bits of Tony Parker and Rondo in Dennis. Dennis will be an excellent pick and roll PG for years with his quickness and improved decision-making and feel. Dennis has a quickness Parker never did yet some of the shooting limitations seen with Rondo...Dennis's shooting can still get much better though. I think Dennis wants it more than Rondo and is a better human being. Dennis is still so young and raw, brimming with upside. Best case: He has some of the best qualities of both Rondo and Parker without the shortcomings in temperament/shooting you see with Rajon while possessing a quickness Parker did not--Dennis needs to develop Parker's decision-making and savvy awareness...unlikely to ever develop certain intangibles Parker has brought but could be on par with "Parker level" as a best case for his career. Hope he wins half the rings.
  4. Dennis should start whether Teague remains or not. But...we should really attempt to move Teague.
  5. Yeah. Obv, what I meant. Noguiera was not a good pick nor was Payne. Dennis was. We have had the sense at least to move on from our poor picks. Tavares will be more useful than Lucas though we got seemingly little for Lucas. Marcus Eriksson...any good word on that former second rounder?
  6. Dude, Schröder is the perfect fit for the system. He will be a great PG and it will be here. He is not in the mold of a Jaylen Brown (and thankfully because that's not for Budball). Dennis is perfect for Budball. He is made for it. He's 22 years-old, and Bud has got to be licking his chops knowing he will have Dennis to run his system for the long majority and peak years of his time coaching here. Dennis is still raw/underdeveloped but that is to be expected from a young German. He is getting better, will only continue to improve as Bud will demand perfection, and Dennis is the guy to run this pick and roll with 'Sap and Horf. Hopefully, we add another major contributor who can score on the wing and of course another big to combat Tristan Thompson. And whatever else in the draft. Like Tony Parker, Dennis will begin his career as a guy who does not take many three's but his shooting will get better yearly and he'll eventually be reasonable shooter. But early on, it won't and doesn't need to be a big part of his game. He needs to cut down on his bad shots at the rim more than anything. His stroke is getting better and will continue to though. Dennis not having "the will" or his "wanting to be 'the man' over the system" are BS assertions. Dennis does not want to be "the man at the expense of the system" but he is willing to be the man. Has cajones. Cold-blooded. Doesn't freeze up in crunch time. We don't have another player I can say that about. You can't teach it. You harness it and instruct it to find balance with the system...as Bud will do. But, I just have to say, anyone under the illusion that Dennis isn't gonna be Bud's long term PG is under just that...an illusion. We need to get past the if and move onto the "when" with Dennis. We could not be further apart on Schröder, @Diesel. Which is great...just don't be scared or overly hesitant to surrender to the flow when Dennis emerges and enjoy the ride.
  7. Tavares played 8 total minutes in two appearances vs. Miami. WOW.
  8. Dennis is perfect for the system. He is a faster/quicker version of Tony Parker. Give him two more years. Dennis is gonna be a cornerstone for a long time. He is gonna be deadly on the pick and roll and his shot will only get better (ala Parker). Dennis is gonna be a star. No doubt about. He is the most valuable asset the Hawks have.
  9. Bud doesn't make the decision. Bud does. Ressler's not fool enough to fire Bud. So, Bud is the architect. If anything, maybe Ressler wants to give Bud a nice budget. But, Bud does the roster. If he wants to keep Al. and I bet he will, we will keep Al. I see Bazemore and Teague as more than expendable. Waive or trade Splitter. Re-sign Al, sign a good rotational big, sign a bargain vet backup PG, and One good FA acquisition (Bradley Beal would be my first most realistic choice--after Durant, of course) for the SF/SG position. Potentially trade Teague + ____ if something makes sense. If that combo of players plus our draft pick is good enough, then we can challenge Cleveland...and if we are shrewd, we could do that, and we could be that good.
  10. I haven't read but the first page, but re: Dennis, here are my very well-formed opinions and thoughts on the above statements, Re: Diesel's comment, it was not just game 4 when Dennis shined. He lead ALL SCORERS in game 1 with 27 points. He pitched in 5 three's and six assists in that one, too. He's got swag no one else on this roster has. "Conform to being a PG." HUH? Poster @Bankingitbig has got it right in his comment. Anyone who doesn't know it's if and not when Scröder becomes the leag dog at PG is in the dark. I don't know if Hawks'll find a taker for Teague, but if I were Bud, if Teague sticks here next season, I'd play him less minutes than Dennis. Then you let Teague walk. Unless...you find a good trade this summer. Teague still has value to us at $8M...we can't give him away, but hopefully we find a deal where it's worth it.
  11. We can be great with another year of development from Dennis and one marquee FA acquisition (Durant would be a wet dream), but there are others. Cheap vet big to replace Humphries or give him another year. THE END.
  12. They are focused on Sap and Horf and Korver. Daring Teague/Baze/Dennis/support to beat them.
  13. Teague will go regardless is my guess. Trade--possibly draft night.
  14. Ah, so that was what my post was about? I'm glad you can project so accurately the intent behind others' objective comments. Btw, I'm indeed guilty of thinking that Dennis is the future (and Teague isn't) but I wasn't bashing Teague or being "more about Schröder than the team". Kid just happened to have, perhaps, his most meaningful game as a pro last night. I wasn't until I got a substance-less "Sigh" that I even mentioned Teague. I don't dislike Teague and he's better than Dennis at the moment. But, in a year or so, he won't be...and won't be for his career. Dennis is a franchise PG.
  15. What about them? He made a couple of turnovers? What about miserable shooting from everyone else? What about turnovers from Bazemore and others? Did Sap not miss two free throws? Cmaannn. Dennis was our best player...if only for a night and it wasn't close.
  16. I didn't bash Teague. I just said prepare yourself if you're a big fan that he isn't part the of longterm plan. Schröder did have some bad possessions in the fourth. So did everyone else--in the fourth and all game. Geez, give credit where it is due. Dennis was one of the best players on the court tonight and definitely was for the Hawks. Teague is a solid PG. Dennis is a future star and he showed it tonight.
  17. I absolutely would consider playing more Baze (2) - Thabo (3) lineups as well as employing a PG-SG-Sap-Horf-Humphries lineup....tinker and see what works. They're killing us on the glass. Otherwise, we are okay.
  18. Sorry, you didn't give me much to go off with your vague substance-lacking "Sigh". Please feel free to expand your idea and provide explicit ideas. Did some of that hit home a little? I'm assuming "Sigh" was from a place of "I get worn out reading posts that advocate for Dennis because I think Teague it better" Am I wrong? We could look back as tonight as a pivotal game in Dennis's player growth--wish he'd led us to a W.
  19. Al has got to nut up and play big for us. Sap did his part on the glass. Al got outrebounded by Thompson, Love, and LBJ. That can't happen.
  20. Yeah, "sigh"....terrible to see the one player--one of our youngest and most talented--we have who isn't scared of the spotlight or big shot to have a potentially breakout prime-time playoff game. Sigh, indeed. HUH? Teague, crush? Sorry, your heart's gonna get broken this offseason.
  21. Silver lining of the game. 27 points with five 3's on 50% shooting. Whole team collectively shot 37% from the field--that won't last.. You all got to see the future tonight, fans. He's not there yet--just scratching the surface.
  22. Stop. Maybe we get Horf back a little cheaper than we thought. He'll be a Hawk. We do need to add another player. Durant would be a wet dream. Baze needs to walk.
